Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

A fully randomized chaos shuffle would be killer sided

I’ve seen posts asking for full randomization in chaos mode including items, add-ons, killer add ons and no map offerings. That sounds fun on paper but the problem I see with this is exactly the issue we are already seeing in chaos mode.

Killers have built in tactics to win that survivors wouldn’t be able to counter. Tunneling. To a lesser extent camping and slugging. It’s been pointed out repeatedly that tunneling camping and slugging are all tactics that don’t require the killers to run any perks or add ons to be effective at. They’re essentially basekit. In chaos mode already we see that when killers load in and they don’t get perks they feel they can work with, they default to tunneling instantly so they can still guarantee their 3/4K.

The issue is that with survivors perks items and add ons being randomized and no map offerings, survivors are effectively at the mercy of RNG hoping they get perks or items to help them counter this and if they dont, they’re screwed unless they’re higher skilled, higher MMR players, because the killer will always have the upper hand being able to tunnel camp and slug. This isn’t a judgment against those playstyles I’m just pointing out why they would make this imbalanced.

I’d love to see a fully random chaos mode the way it’s being suggested but unfortunately imo I think the way this game is built and the mechanics would make it incredibly unfun to pull off balance wise and you would continue to see what we are also seeing right now in chaos mode: Survivors giving up instantly as soon as they feel they’re in a position they can’t fight back against if they didn’t get perks they can work with.

Most matches don’t have true tunneling and if they already aren’t tunneling it’s very survivor sided as the game is balanced around at least “some” gen regression and with chaos shuffle you’re unlikely to get that regression. Also if it was full random that would help survivors even more as some killers are still addon reliant to function at a normal level.

TLDR: in “most” cases a full randomized chaos shuffle is favoring the survivors. Killers are WAY more perk/addon reliant than survivors are.

So no matter if its fully randomized or not, the game mode needs to get effective built-in counters to "killer strategies". Like all modes. But devs were ignorant on this for years, and we still have to wait whats even happening with those anti-measure that should come later this year.

Still fully randomized chaos shuffle would prevent those one-sided situations with killers running the most advantagous add-ons and maps to cover up for their low skill and sweatyness in a fun mode.

Survivors could be playing with their monitors off and gamer chairs facing the wall and chaos shuffle would still massively favor them from just how mandatory perks are for killer

Turn your screen on, you'll be ok

Yes, with healing perks and iron will… every. Effing. Time.

Hey devs, screwing over survivors isn't funny anymore.

I've gotten No Mither about 3-4 times I think? I've seen lobbies where multiple No Mithers are present - luckily when I play with a friend (only time I play the game mode) -- I haven't gotten No Mither since this new iteration... yet.

---Once, I played with a friend - him and I loaded in with No Mither and the only two to escape. ☠️ It's not common, but it obviously sucks when it happens but that's Chaos Shuffle for you.

I mean, outside of edge cases like a strong 3/4 man SWF on Discord, the game is Killer sided by design. I don't see how more randomisation in the mode would change that to any significant degree. Camping and tunnelling is how a lot of Killers play the game anyway. I will say that as Survivor, I never like to see a map offering in play because I know it can put otherwise chill Killers in a more competitive mood and thus increase the chances of sweaty play styles.

That said, I jumped back into the regular mode after some Chaos Shuffle games with plenty of both and found the experience to be a lot more chill, so there may be some truth to what you say. BHVR give us a silly meme mode to play around with and some of us see that as an invitation to take the gloves off. Short of making sweaty play styles impossible, I'm not sure what else BHVR could do to encourage a more casual mindset.

It won't be horrible killer-sided, especially if the killer itself is randomized too
