They said they were gonna give survivors a whole new item.
(somehow, I managed i read the absolute opposite of what the title said lmao)

They just announced that they've got every target metric for killers. Kill rates are 60% overall, escape rates are level between solo and all SWF overall, and the upcoming phase 1 includes anti hiding for killers and anti go next for literally everyone.

These changes dont compare tho? Anti slugging etc happens throughout the game. anti go next only happens 1 in 10 matches (atleast for me) and the anti hiding only comes into effect at endgame or 2 survivors remaining

They said in stream that they do alot for killers but not alot for survivors so they want to change that this year

To be fair, what we saw wasn't a balance roadmap, it was the content roadmap and updates on the QoL roadmap. You'd broadly expect to see survivor changes at least a little more in that kind of showing.
Any actual killer buffs will just be in the balance updates, as they have been steadily for the last few patches. It's easy to lose sight of that, but it's worth repeating again - something about killers has been buffed in every single patch of year 8, and a lot of that has been pretty noticeable.
They're announcing more system-wide changes for survivors because those are what's needed there, for the most part. Killers just need regular balance updates for the most part, and that's what they're getting.
(Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see stuff like toolbox reworks sometime, which would go in this kind of showing, but I don't think that should be the only thing we judge BHVR's showings on)

There are killer buffs though. The map offerings changes and the survivor spawn update are pretty substantial killer buffs.
Most of the changes shown were QoL changes to make things more enjoyable rather than broad balance changes. There will still be killer balance patches like usual.
As for the new item/item reworks, giving survivors new toys to play with is definitely a good idea because once Springtrap releases killer queues are going to be a nightmare.

How do youn know if those changes dont compare to anything? Have you any insight of their measurements about Anti-Slugging or Anti-Camping? Or the Go next-Prevention? I mean, you surely have some Insider-Knowledge, it cannot be possible that you are just talking without knowing anything concrete.

Anti hiding is likely going to be all game.
Survivors no longer spawning spread out is literally once, but helps mitigate the biggest complaint from killers, meaning early "gen rush".
Anti "go next" helps literally everyone.
And, as someone else already pointed out: we have no details on phase 2, so no one can honestly speak to how it might work or when it activates.

I just don't know what the devs are doing with some changes. They nerfed medkits and healing speeds to help make hits more impactful and increase killer pressure but then gigabuffed Resurgence and released these Orela healing perks that just allow everyone to heal in 2 seconds again. It's back to prime CoH days. Coordinated SWFs are feasting with the latest patch

I agree that the balance is pretty good overall, except for SWF at high MMR. There’s a statistically significant jump in the escape rate there. This shows the unfair advantage of communication and coordination at the higher levels. I’ve been in matches against these kinds of teams (although not super often) and they’re just a curb stomping. I’m lucky to get a couple of hooks before all the gens are done. The only thing that can really be done is to implement some kind of handicap for 4-man teams based on MMR score, or some sort of “comeback” mechanic for killers against SWF teams, but I know it will never happen because people always complain about “punishing people for playing with their friends.” They of course never acknowledge the fact that their unfair advantage is punishing the people who are forced to play against them.

Balance is pretty much fine now except for S tier Killers and super coordinated strong SWFs, which makes sense. The OP strong stuff is still strong. Nurse is still OP and coordinated SWF still can destroy the lower tiers especially at high MMR. But overall the game is pretty balanced now, all Killers feel pretty good and are hitting the target, so now it's time to balance a bit for Survivor side.
My issue is, they still need to balance some Survivor items like toolboxes, give new items (which it seems like they're going to do), remove some old nuisance mechanics from both sides (like being able to drop items to avoid crows and excessive tunnelling at five gens), balance maps, and overall improve the experience for all. Half of that is on the roadmap already.Post edited by LockerLurk on-1
