Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Escape milestone quest is lame.

Distortion was killed because of "rat" behavior so why are we highly encouraging survs to play like one every match now? Making escape be a milestone quest is only going to make players be more selfish with an even bigger disconnect between solos now.

New survivor milestone quest could focus on:

1) More Teamwork. (safe unhooks or protection hits)

2) Killer Interactions. (being hit or chased)

3) Side Objective. (opening chests or interacting with Killer's belongings)

4) Bloodpoints. (literally just bloodpoints)

Any one of those are more realistically possible to accomplish in most matches like the other decent milestones and are more useful to the team than just trying to escape. These kind of quests also don't take away from potential end game plays which most people aren't going to attempt when they can just get escape progress.

BHVR could just change the quest to “Escape the trial after all 5 generators have been repaired”.

That would stop survivors from excessively hiding all match, and hoping for get hatch as the last survivor.

I agree with this, it wasn't a good idea to make escaping a milestone for Survivor. It's as harmful as "hook everyone in the basement" or "knock down [x] Survivors" or "Kill the Obsession [x] times" were before, in that it encourages harmful and unfun behavior to complete a challenge. That isn't fun, it feels bad.

I would RATHER see dailies be used for playing certain characters in a round (not for doing certain tasks as them necessarily, but that could be an option in the future!). Then have Milestones be for completing simple tasks like repairing/kicking generators, totems, hooks, chase time in seconds, healing/injuring Survivors, stuns, anything OTHER than Kills and Escapes or worse yet, Moris and Hatches.

No more requiring harmful playstyles to complete quests, no more encouraging griefing to complete quests, no more unfun "you must play in a specific way and do a specific number of things IN ONE TRIAL" to complete quests. No more. They suck and they are not wanted.

However, I do wanna see memory shard and some glyph challenges come back - those were fun. Not all glyphs though. We can throw the Orange and Pink ones in the garbage bin I think. The rest are just fine and add to the game without sandbagging your team or negatively affecting your game to do it.

I'm curious where you got this info about "moving away from escapes for MMR purposes", and if that means they are also moving away from kills for MMR purposes. Remember, not just Survivor can be SoloQ. Killer is also almost always SoloQ, they just usually have the advantage in a round. SoloQ sucks for everyone.

It's possible I misspoke about stepping away from just escapes counting for the upcoming mmr changes since we don't have the full details yet but I was under the impression that they are going to making some changes at least. They spoke about it in the latest stream?

Either way though, I still believe long term challenges shouldn't be based off escapes. I don't think Killer's would appreciate if there was a challenge that required them to get a 4k every match and if they didn't, they got no progress.

I think it's completely acceptable for the number of escapes to be lowered.

My real issue is people that are completely fine with challenges like "break 5 totems" or "complete a bunch of green glyphs", where survivors sandbag their entire team by wasting large amounts of time with stuff that doesn't help survivors win games…

…but a challenge to actually win games is considered toxic. It's like people would rather sandbag their teammates than actually try to play the game for reals, because sandbagging their teammates is much easier to do.

I didn't have too much trouble with this and I never play like a rat, I would rather fun chases and die than to hide and rat it out for a meaningless escape. But as above, it seems the sheer number required is too high for normal people and I guess I am not the typical player. Someone who can only play a few hours every weekend is probably going to have more problem with getting 55 escapes over concerns of rat plays

Agreed, it encourages anti-altruistic and selfish behaviour. I've not stayed to try and help get others out since the rift opened, once gates are open im out because im not risking my progression to help others.

It will also take a long time and people who don't play much will suffer with this milestone. 2v8 is the only thing that'll help but i didn't even want to play it to begin with…

It juts boils down to one simple idea: Requiring people to winstreak to progress efficiently is a really crappy milestone for EITHER side. Requiring people to stomp-win at all is stupid in an arcadey tag game about running from a slasher villain.
