How is the new rift going for everyone?
I thought I would put this discussion out there so we can see how far people have gotten in the rift after the first week of the new system. Obviously there has been a lot of complaining about how slow it's been going and I want to see exactly how slow that is. Also obviously, since everyone plays a different amount of this game with a different amount of time, I'm expecting some wildly different answers to come out of this.
For example: After a week of the new rift, I have completed 28 tiers and am now working on the 29th.
Compared to before I feel like that's a similar pace to before because usually by I want to say Tier 15-20, I run out of challenges from the first tome level and I would have just been leveling up by experience transferring to rift fragments by now. Although it's really hard to say. It isn't lost on me though that a main reason I'm this far after a week is the milestone awards where I'm getting closer to the end of each and after maybe another week or so, I'll be out of those to do and the pace is going to slow down a ton. Currently the lowest steps I'm at are for the Repair Generators and Escape Trials challenges where I'm on Step 6 for both. The highest step I'm at is actually for healing others and I'm at Step 9 for that. Everything else is either step 7 or 8 which is pretty far.

Currently at 51 and waiting for the new weeklies

The menus are just confusing. It's hard to tell where I'm even at.

Already at tier 40, done all killer milestones. Its seems super easy for consistently playing players and hard for casuals. But at least if you wait till last minute you can stack weeklies

I'm tier 15 atm which is about where I'd be normally. I've done the weekly and the every daily and some levels of the milestones. I'm not worried about finishing it with the extra help we'll get from the events and what not and I enjoy being able to do multiple things at once.
I am a bit concerned for people who come into this late though. Missing out on the daily and event extras might make this new system a bit of a slog compared to before.
This is assuming everything stays exactly the same though; I imagine they'll increase the values a bit. Personally, I'd love for the weekly fragments to go up 5 each week with slightly increased difficulty. This would let you hit level 100 by only doing the weekly and milestone stuff.2 -
Tier 7.95
I got a free tier 1 for a reason I can't remember, then I've played exactly 4 matches over 4 days to knockout the dailies so far.
Hoping that none of the weekly rift pass quests expire once the next week rolls over and I can just do them all retroactively if I forget to play or get busy with something else for a while.

Based off the PTB, the only thing "Weekly" about them is that they unlock weekly. You should still be able to do every challenge. The only challenges that expire after a certain amount of time is the dailies. You can't stack those. Maybe the challenge that says "Get X amount of rift challenges this week" expires after a week based off the wording, but I think it just means the challenges have to come from that specific week's challenge pool.

Tier 14.
New system is garbage.

I'm on the third page about halfway through - it's definitely faster than the old system. But I'm also not playing every single day, I'd probably be further along if so.
I tend to grind out Survivor stuff to finish them off, then play Killer the rest of the month fairly casually, and that's how I've been playing here. Been stacking old Tome stuff I didn't bother to finish on top of it for more BP gain as well. I really actually like to play for the challenges and Quests, it's a better healthier wincon to me than just playing to win all the time.
I like this new system but I strongly dislike how hard it will be for super casuals and newcomers to catch up⦠it feels like you need to play a lot consistently to do well.

Around tier 13 I think?
Not really sure.

Rank 11, i'd call myself casual player playing an hour or so every other day, feels much slower as i'd expect to be about 20-25 doing all/most of survivor and killer challenges in rift 1. I see it all coming down to the locked weekly quests holding all the major points which is holding me back for now, and when more are unlocked i could easily see it shooting up.

Currently on tier 21. Have played very little survivor but a bunch of killer matches. Can't say I really like this new system, I'm not even keeping track of what quests I have and it doesn't even matter since they are all so generic there's no need. I'm finding out that, though some of the tome challenges were a bit annoying, most times I enjoyed having some specific challenges that required me to play a specific way :( now it's all "hook people" "kick gens" "break pallets".

rift? i never even looked at it yet

New system really sucks.
I have zero incentive to play more than one match a day, because that's all it takes to do the daily challenges. Since passive Rift progress has been gimped, there's no point playing when there's no challenges available.
'Complete three generator skill checks'? Wow BHVR, pulling out all the stops here. For 2,500 Bloodpoints too? I can get a whole brown Medkit for that!

I hate it.

Weirdly enough, they actually didn't get rid of the passive gain, it's now 5 shards per, not sure if it's still experience based or just every round. I actually know this for fact because I was at 95/100 rift fragments for Tier 36, accomplished no goals this last round, and now am at Tier 37. Honestly I thought at first they got rid of it to.

only like tier 14

I think I am at level 17+ and I play almost daily but only for like 1h. So not bad.

I am nearly at tier 40 but I don't think I will get this ones premium pass as I don't like flowery cosmetics or many of the survivors they are on and I don't care about killer cosmetics at all anymore.

I don't like how you don't get any rift fragments through EXP anymore. The milestones are limited, and eventually you'll run out, and then you won't be gaining any rift progress outside of dailies and weeklies, which will feel bad. And right now, the split between dailies, weeklies and milestones quests is about 40 levels max from each, which is not generous enough. If you're aiming to get level 100 you are pretty much forced to do dailies and also make sure you get all the milestones on both sides maxed, which many players won't be able to do. If you happen to miss some dailies here and there, it'll suddenly be impossible to reach max level without paying extra which is not good.
Yeah you can say "Level 70 is enough" but before you could comfortably reach 100+ by just doing some tome challenges and a few event tomes, plus play some normal matches. You weren't forced to check in every day.
I'm sure they'll tweak it to make it decent, but I feel like at least the dailies need to be buffed to at least 35 fragments so you get a full level each day instead of a little less than half. Also adding back rift gains from just gaining EXP like before. Then the rift would feel reasonable again.

Tier 46-ish? I completed almost every milestone.
I still don't understand why rift pass is made infinite.

State of the game feels so bad I'm barely motivated to play, so I'm at only level 12.

I've played 17 games since the change and I think I'm up about 15 tiers. With 3 months to go I'm not worried about completing it

I'm about 35 tiers in and I really don't like the new system, it almost feels like I'm not even doing challenges. I miss the specificity of tome challenges rather than "do this thing you do every match 5,000 times".

Tier 13.
I dont have a reason to play after finishing week 1 challenges and dailies.

I don't like the new rift system.
Why don't I like it? Here are some reasons:
1.) The actual rift is hidden inside the quests
2.) How are new users to know that they need to go under quests and all the menus in there to see what their challenges are? The system is not cohesive.
3.) The challenges are way too basic (e.g., Escape a Trial, Hit survivors X number of times, Hook X number of survivors). They contain none of what made the previous challenges fun.
4.) The "challenges," or whatever they are now, are slowly doled out to users through weekly, daily, and milestone quest challenges.
5.) Milestone Quest challenges are revealed in steps instead of all at once, or as separate challenges.
They essentially increased everything bad about the Rift system by 1000% while removing everything that people liked about it. I hope they either adjust the new Quest system to counter my complaints or just bring the old system back. I haven't heard anyone screaming from the rooftops that they love this new system. In fact, all I have read are complaints.5 -
The fragment amounts need a buffβ¦. Progression is too slow for casual players.

confusing

Boring honestly. Also it seems everyone is sweating their ass to get escapes or kills (not a bad thing because solo queue games seemed better)

Why did they nerf passive so hard? π

38, but about to run out of the Milestones; I can see this grinding to a near standstill when I do.

Winning comment right here. I love the weather out so much right now. It's been pool day after pool day after pool day, but that's kind of off topic.

Great question.

I'm at level 40 something (46 maybe) almost done most of the milestones all past level 6 anyway,
Haven't bought the rift, I have the cells but honestly this is the 1st rift I won't buy, I don't really like any of the cosmetics at all, certainly wouldn't use any, & I think the new system is god awful, drip feeding me new challenges every week that i'll complete the same day is tedious, the milestones suck, not having any incentive to play other killers or use other perks like the tomes did just leaves me questioning why bother π€·π»ββοΈ
I will finish the milestones purely to see how easy they are, but this is another misstep in my opinion along with the colour changes & other stuff nobody asked for.
Without drastic changes i'll certainly never intentionally try to get through the next version of all this junk.

I'm at 15 and feel like at the rate I going, I should be able to make it beyond 70 levels without having to grind for it. I'm not even playing all that much, just a couple of hours every other day.
I don't think I'll be buying the rift this time around though, despite actually liking a lot of it. There's nothing for any of my mains and / or the cosmetics are not really my style. In any case, I like new system and overall think it's better, even if I'll miss the uniqueness of the Tomes and the ability to go back in time to complete them even after a rift has long been closed.

I think new system might be great for new players, but it seems just boring to meβ¦
Also rewards suck so much, not really worth even opening it to check what am I supposed to do.1 -
This Quest system is so boring. I just wanted a couple tweaks to the Tomes, not a complete rework that throws the Tomes in the trash. Unless BHVR scraps this and brings back the Tomes, I'm not sure I'm going to stick with DbD.
The milestones suck for anyone who mostly plays one side or only plays casually. I don't play killer much anymore, and when I do I really don't want to be killing. And I'm not really having fun as survivor: if I get to the end of the match I don't want to offer up a mori because I need the escapes. This is killing my enjoyment and desire to play. The normal gameplay loop gets old fast, it was changing it up and memeing that made it fun.
The paltry amount of Rift fragments rewarded for playtime/XP is frustrating as well.
I'm at tier 21. For the most part, I play a match a day to do the dailies, and then I turn it off and ask myself, "Why am I still bothering?" I guess I just want to see if BHVR realizes this boring, unrewarding (in terms of fragments, BP, and any sense of accomplishment) quest system is another step towards a generic mobile-game looking product. Which is a bad thing. Does BHVR think people paid for a PC/console game but were secretly hoping for a free-to-play mobile game?
Anyway, to me the Tomes gave a certain sense of accomplishment. Even when the Tome challenges were annoying, they did change things up. And I love the Compendium. The only thing the Quest system does better than the Tomes is completing multiple challenges at once, which after a week of playing the game I can say doesn't matter much. Turns out, it also really kills any sense of accomplishment. Huh, looking at it that way, I guess everything about the Quest system is worse than the Tomes.

The more I play at this rift system the more I am concerned about FOMO for casuals and for people who do not play every day, I do NOT like giving items or badges as a substitute for the tome entries you can do any time you want. Those should be permanent options, not time gated.
