Will Play while you wait even work?
I'm gonna be honest I don't think so it's still vague so we need more information, will play waiting only apply to 2v8 only? Or can we do 1v4 as well? If so I doubt it'll be able to attract people to the survivor side. Will I able to double queue for the same role? What if both queues are super long?
Furthermore if it reserves a spot for a person and someone just takes a really long time to finish a match won't it increase wait times?

I worry it will make the killer queue hours long, because everyone will want to queue.

I mean, in general it should work. Because you would have Killer players who can do something else while waiting and also you would have Survivor players who would make the queues faster for Killer.
It is a fix and a decent one. But it does not really solve the Core problems of 2v8. Plus not everyone who wants to play Killer in 2v8 also wants to play Survivor. (And I dont know if they make it that you are automatically queueing for Survivor or that you can decide if you want to queue for Survivor while waiting for Killer)

It’ll be a nice fix. It’ll help queue times for killer, and also give them something to do while they wait. I would mind making some BP while I wait haha.
More than likely if you are playing Survivor and it’s now your turn to be killer. If you’re in the middle of a match, you will get yanked, a bot probably will take your place.2 -
Dragonball Breakers has had this system for awhile. The game is unsurprisingly not as popular anymore, but even when it was, no, it didn't speed it up.. Maybe BHVR has some secret methods they're going to implement in the background. We just have to wait and see.

I mean idk if it will “fix” anything as far as q times but I wouldn’t mind readying up as killer then playing survivor until my ticket number is called.
3 -
The important detail is what happens when the player's killer queue is ready? Will they be immediately replaced by a survivor bot? Because forcing survivors to deal with more survivor bots, just so killer players can have a better quality of life, might not be good for queue times.
I also really don't understand why BHVR is putting so much time and effort into making the killer's player experience so much fun in 2v8, when the killer queues are already too high. It's like all the stuff killers want in 1v4, get added to 2v8, then we wonder why so many people want to play killer in 2v8?
For example, Nurse feels horribly clunky to play in 1v4, regardless of how good she is in that mode. But she feels amazing to play in 2v8 because they gave her so many buffs in the 2v8 mode. Of course I'm going to want to play Nurse in 2v8, because it's the only time I get to play Nurse where she's actually fun to play as.

Coffee, they want to make the Killer queue times better because everyone wants to play Killer in this mode, but gives up and just plays Survivor because EVERYONE wants to be Killer. There isn't enough Survivor for all the Killer though and many people just give up and wait for the event to end, or give up and go play 1v4.
The AVERAGE player just wants to be able to play the mode. And many people who normally don't, may want to try Killer in the mode. That's always been part of the issue. This is the only mode you and a friend can play Killer together.
-1 -
A major part of the issue is that many of the killers are way more fun to play as in 2v8, regardless of whether or not there is a teammate. BHVR should just remove all the 2v8 killer buffs, and see what happens to the queue times. (Maybe the underperforming killers can keep the 2v8 buffs since they need the extra help).
2 -
Doesn't that destroy the whole not wanting bots in matches if it just yanks you outta the match?
1 -
Hard disagree removing the buffs would do nothing to effect survivor enjoyment survivors have said it themselves it's core issues
0 -
I mean not really? Killers don't want to play survivor they want to play killer like now they are just gonna go off and do something else in the meantime it's a decent solution but I doubt it'll be enough to fix queue maybe at most shave 1 to 2 mins off
1 -
I think they said it won't kick you. Your killer slot is paused until the survivor match is over.
1 -
Oni and Legion being way overpowered for 2v8, isn't a core issue with 2v8?

I gotta disagree with you on the nurse statement. Just me personally though. Nurse in 2v8 requires really good blinks and a far less mistakes than in 1v4 for me at least. I can play nurse in 1v4 without perks or add-ons and just vibe out where as 2v8 I gotta lock in every match.
0 -
I guess but I am not sure how else they will do it? Who is gonna take my spot if it’s my turn to play killer and I am in a match as survivor while I wait?
0 -
I sure hope so, because something has to be done about those queue times. Survivor 2V8 simply isn't as fun as Killer and it doesn't look like BHVR are interested in changing that. I know I'm only playing for the extra BP and because I think there's no point queuing for regular DBD when an alternative game mode is live.
Why would anyone queue to play with the same increasingly stale Survivor classes when 2 hot new gigabuffed Killers get added to the mode with every iteration?
0 -
You're saying 1v4 Nurse without perks or addons, feel better to play than all the above stuff that 2v8 Nurse gets? For reals? I just can't with this conversation.
3 -
Don't forget that she additionally has pretty much constant aura reading.
0 -
That's a valid concern.
Getting yanked out of a match because the queue found a lobby for you to play killer sounds awful for all parties involved (unless you're getting pulled from a really bad game), so I really don't want that.
1 -
It is wild to imagine that the answer is forcing killers to play survivor rather you know, making survivor fun and interesting to play. The devs are way too scared of offending killers it seems. It's an odd approach that deserves looking into why is fun factor such a low priority for survivor role.
-1 -
I enjoy playing survivor :/
1 -
Yeah. I play 2v8 Nurse with Enforcer, which means that line of sight breakers are often useless against Nurse.
To be super honest, I think the actual 2v8 Nurse issue is there are too many killers that want to go lone wolf with 2v8 Nurse, because they think she's an S-tier killer that doesn't need any help chasing survivors. Meanwhile, if the Nurse does try to help their teammate, they're getting so much free aura reading that it's so much easier for Nurse to hit survivors as a team player than as a lone wolf.
0 -
That's good, but it's a bit obvious that most people don't.
2 -
If you talk to the minority here than yes. I don’t think you’d have the amount of survivors that we do have including myself, if we didn’t actually like it.
-2 -
Three possibilities (edit: that I can think of, I'm sure there are more)
1: It doesn't let you into survivor games when you are close in the queue. As a random example: let's say there are a 1000 killers in queue when you join, if you pop out of a survivor game and are below 250 you can't join the next queue.
2: Once you get to the front of the queue, the position is there for the next available game. Basically the system calls for 1, if they aren't there is calls for 2, if they aren't there it calls for 3, etc. So if you get to the front of the queue while in a survivor game, you get the next killer slot that appears when you exit the survivor game.
3: The queue creates a holding zone and an active queue. The active queue is where the system is trying to match people based on MMR and other considerations (even though MMR basically becomes irrelevant in this mode). Holding queue is just waiting for spots to open up in the active queue. While in the holding queue you can play survivor, not while in the active queue.
Option 2 would probably be the easiest to implement.
1 -
I think the queues sort of speak to the issue. 2v8 there are just factually too few survivors and too many killers. How ever much specific people enjoy it, most don't.
1 -
The problem is that is doesn't have to just be 'most', it has to be a substantial majority, or killer queues will explode. It's one of the big problems for DbD modes (and asyms in general.
1 -
The devs have stated over and over this wasn’t the case though statistically on their end..They had mentioned we still have the same overall amount of survivors playing it’s just that we have a huge influx of killers rolling in. (Consider that people that don’t play for a while and only come back specifically for 2v8…Literally one of my friends hasn’t played dbd since the last 2v8 just to play killer with me)
-1 -
Whatever x amount of players that like survivor is far outnumbered by people enjoying killer. I think this is proven by killers queues being almost infinity. So, it's not just this forum.
1 -
“Whatever x amount of players that like survivor is far outnumbered by people enjoying killer.”
Respectfully - I am going to disagree on this.
-2 -
In 2v8 I love it. In 1v4 it leaves a lot to be desired. I really wish we had alternate win conditions.. Generators have caused so many of the people I play with to put the game down, due to the objective that is Gens just being boring and not fun to do. It's like watching a load screen.
0 -
To be fair a lot of the people are only doing gens. They hardly ever take chase or get altruistic in anyway so they just sit on a gen which is very boring.
1v4 needs more love for survivors for sure. Soloq needs a buff, survivor perks (certain ones) need to show up, example Jane’s perk solidarity or deliverance.
Survivors need more items to work with and overall perks need to be freshened up.
2 -
The problem is being chased is the most exciting part of the game, yet it's the hardest. Something could be done to make Generators more exciting. Different mini games, other than just the same circle.. Make Great Skill Checks feel more rewarding. Anything… It's very bland. The people that they should be making things like Generators appeal to are new players.. They are not doing that for whatever reason..
The people who have been playing the game will keep playing no matter what they do for the most part.. Waiting for someone in that company to say "Hey I have lots of good ideas on how to KEEP new players playing the game!" Hasn't happened yet obviously.

I literally stated for me my guy, I'm well aware of her "buffs" in 2v8 as well as how strong she is in general I've spent a tiny bit of time with her. There's a reason that on paper she sounds outstanding but you rarely see them in 2v8. How you feel about playing nurse is your opinion and it's valid. I just simply disagreed with you based on my time playing her.
0 -
Then wouldn't this just inflate queue times for both sides? If you have a long match the other people already ready wil have to wait longer
-1 -
What if they brought in the bloodgens?
0 -
People complained huntress and wraith/ wraith and blight were OP in the first and second iteration Devs haven't made any balance changes in all the iterations so your gonna have to accept there gonna stay like that
0 -
How is Nurse not fun in 1v4 but fun in 2v8? What did they even change with her?
0 -
I enjoyed that. It'd be nice to get away from Generators though… Years of just Generators when that REALLY doesn't have to be the only objective..
0 -
I can't really see what they would do other then reskin them to be something else
0 -
They'd better have go-next prevention in place for the next 2v8, because I can foresee people in the "play while you wait" queue running straight to the killers to get downed so they can leave the game ASAP for their free killer game ticket.

It don't work like that
