Did they nerf the trapper recently?

He is one of the killers I never put much time into. Every now and then I play him for a daily or something. I noticed recently that it feels like there is way less traps across the map than there used t be. Did they seriously do that? I don't get how anyone could play a killer with just a few traps laying around that experienced players easily can avoid. Hopefully I just imagined this? I also like using the add ons that let me carry more. Perhaps that is where the change was? They don't count as bonus traps anymore? Did they ever?

    Im not quite sure, but what I can tell you is that the last maps that have bene itnroduced are just really really big which means that your traps are really really far away aswell because the number doesnt scale (pallets do hwoever lul?)

    I suppose it was a bit of both then. I did play on the new map when noticing this. But then I played at the hospital and noticed it even more and thats an old map. I was like ah great a good line of sight map no one is going to step in my traps other than those SUPER obvious spots of grass where no one should ever even be going vs a trapper anyways. Wait theres a ton of vaults...wait again there is a strangely small amount of traps laying around.

    I'd like to see him get some more on the largest maps but not so many that it's excessive, 5 more at a minimum would be nice.


    One possibility that's never been discussed and would actually help him have the element of surprise some is to not have them spawn on the map. Instead he'd be like hag and he starts with a set amount, 10 for regular maps 15 for the biggest maps.


    Once he places one his counter like hag goes down by one and once placed if he runs out of ammo so to speak he has to lose the oldest one he placed. Now if his trap gets sabo'd he can't use that as a refill until the auto repair timer comes up.


    Once that happens he can freely replace it someplace else and the advantage is that survivors don't spawn in seeing traps on the ground.


    @Peanits You're a Trapper fiend what do you think of a Hag like treatment for his traps?

    Yeah that could be a decent buff. Just starting with all of them. Since im a noob trapper I like the lock down one area strategy anyways. Traveling to distant traps isn't so great. Much less setting them and if someone does walk into it. Not like im gertting there in time

    Spawning with all of them would be nice but may incentivize bad gameplay.

    I think he SHOULD be limited in some ways, that is the reason why Trapper is the most strategic Killer in the game by a VERY far margin.

    I think traps should no longer spawn on the map but in lockers, make his default carry capacity 3 traps, make the hitbox a bit bigger and maybe make one of the dyes base kit. We could also talk about replacing the escape RNG to something less BS for both sides.
