Dead by Daylight deserves a proper next-gen update

The game has been moved to Unreal Engine 5 however this has not brought along many improvements.

I know this is nitpicking but I have noticed a slow decline of minor graphical settings, things which I do think most people won't notice.

The major one that has jumped out to me since it happened is low poly models being used frequently at longer distances - this is easily noticeable using any aura perk, you'll see either killers or survivors as blocky characters (low poly).

Another setting which would be much appreciated would be a resolution scale - using things like DLDSR breaks multi-monitor setups.

Not even touching on the fact that Unreal 5 enables so many new graphical features - raytracing, lumen etc. None of these features are being utilised despite the engine upgrade.

I think the root of the problem is their unwieldy 2016 coding that limits so much of what they can do, despite an engine upgrade. Jokes about how easily it gets broken and is super bug-ridden come from this. The fact they even have a vertical limit of around Dracula's bats and no more is completely concerning, and hampers killer design.

Graphically they greatly reduced or removed elements like fog and swaying grass for performance reasons. All platforms the games is on, including the Switch, are capable of running the game much better but have difficulty digesting that coding. Even PC players with very strong machines notice this as DBD is an unusually voracious gobbler of resources when running.

What most likely is needed is a fresh recoding of the game from scratch, or an actual DBD 2, neither of which is coming sadly.
