Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Will endgame builds be a viable meta?

WWill Endgame focused builds ever be a viable meta for some killers? With the new springtails perks and remember me, high mobility killers could really jump around the gates. It might never be S tier, but might be B+-A-?

Endgame builds have the advantage of almost completely ignoring gen rush, as long as they get the remember me done. This might counter gen rush hard on some killers.

They can be good if you kill one or two survivors before completing all gens then they are strong.

    Unlikely.

The problem with End Game builds is that if survivors still have plently of hook states left after the gens are finished, they can easily outlast the timers on end game perks. If you did well during the match and survivors are almost dead at the end of the game, then any other perk that gave value during the match likely could have gotten you to win without reaching end game.

Endgame builds never work for me plus the picture is supposed to be a tongue in cheek joke.

Endgame builds have their niche place in DbD, but they're verrrrry niche. The main problem with endgame builds are that they have a low time limit to stall survivors from leaving the match, in which the killer has to finish them off. If all 4 survivors are around/alive and have more than 1 hook state left, it's incredibly difficult to pull off getting all the kills before the gates open and they leave, especially for standard-low mobility killers. Even High mobility killers can only deal with 1 survivor at a time, and if it takes a bout 20 seconds to chase/down a survivor + 10 seconds for hook/mori time to net the kill, and another 30 seconds to find and initiate the next chase… by the time you get 1 kill, and start the next chase, the doors will be ready to open. On top of that, the best perk for endgame build, BloodWarden, will be immediately assumed by the survivor team the moment they notice the effects of any other endgame perk or killer behavior, which will render it useless since all remaining survivors won't open a gate until everyone's unhooked and within escape range of the gate (basically half the map in most cases).

Springrolls new perk punishes survivors for 99%'ing a gate instead of opening it, but that's only gonna affect newbies, since good survivors all know that 99%'ing the gate gets more people killed than not, so it won't even affect them. Basically, Like Bloodwarden, the moment the survivors notice any endgame shenanigans, they will render the perk powerless by simply opening the gates. Even the most funny Rancor builds that have the potential to net multiple mori's endgame regardless of hook states, typically net only 1 or 2 kills at most before the rest of the team leaves.

Endgame builds can be unexpected and funny, but ultimately pretty useless.

Endgame builds are already viable on some killers in my opinion. As long as you still try during the early/mid game I mean.

Rancor (Decent info after every gen + an (almost) guaranteed free kill on someone when final gen is done), Remember Me + No way out to heavily delay gates. Rancor also gets rid of the obsession to guarantee slower gate speeds

4th perk could be a number of things but NOED is probably the strongest since Blood Warden is inconsistent and survivors actively play like every killer has it, that goes double if they see you have other endgame perks. Terminus might be a good pick for Plague since every survivor will cleanse once the final gen is done and it counters the fountain heal.

Though, a build I like is rancor + remember me & no way out and for a 4th I use 'Hex: Wretched Fate'. Basically if the obsession spends all game hiding and doing gens, they can enjoy the nice 33% slower penalty.

Full endgame builds might become viable but as you said probably never S tier.

Running a half endgame build (NOED+NWO) with two slowdowns or other non-endgame perks is actually already viable and very strong.

I don’t think exit gate regression fits super well into most endgame build ideas, which are usually focused on stopping the gates from progressing at all. That perk probably won’t see much use except in niche cases like a trapper gate guardian build.

Maybe not unless you are Singularity, but I'm sure it'll bring some fright back to dbd.
