Why do some people consider Leatherface weak?
If survivors try to pallet loop this may happen:
If survivors stick together this may happen:
If survivors enter Bubba's basement while getting chased this may happen:
So not only does Bubba have the strongest defense in the game but his ability actually helps in chases as well if you know how and when to use the chainsaw as seen in the first video. The only thing he lacks is map pressure but other than that he seems really strong most of the time.

Because his power is destroyed by vaulting thanks to it's incredible windup and when he does bump something he's stunned for forever.
He's the bottom of average tier because a 1shot is still a 1shot.
Bubba's basement is a meme and gets genrushed like you wouldn't believe.

Because the basement meme is so old and over used now that survivors know you have two choices - get the gens done and leave, or go down in the basement and probably join the guy on the hook.

You said it yourself, map pressure. Being good at map pressure is better than being good at chases imo. That's also one of clowns weaknesses, bad at map pressure but solid at chasing. Different killers are made for different things. Pig and Freddy are the opposite, not great at chases but alright at map pressure. I also find Leatherface boring to play but that's just a personal thing lol

I just watched the first 30 sec of the first video.
Yeah leatherface is a strong killer if survivors dont know how to play, a really strong one if they throw themselves at the hook

What about the first clip? The survivor only tried to loop the pallet once and still got downed (and his team mate as well)

People have already covered the most popular stuff, but here are some other reasons why he's on the weaker side:
- He lacks map pressure- He can one shot, but he can't really move much faster than average killer speed so he needs to focus more on defensive play.
- His saw can be misleading- He gains momentum when he starts to swing his saw, but the speed up doesn't necessarily close the distance in a chase. Also since he's swinging back and forth you can actually find yourself not properly lined up with your target and instead the edge of terrain without noticing.
- Can't fake the saw charge- Bubba commits to the saw and slows down till you release the saw so you get little to know value from cancelling charges. It's better to just start sawing if you bother to charge it.
- Bubba specific addons aren't really game changing- They are just okay in a sea of extremely good addons on better killers. The addons he shares with Billy are better value most of the time and easier to get.
All that said, he still added 3 amazing perks to the game. One of which became meta level tracking point. He could be improved a small bit, but what he lacks gets covered pretty well by being able to setup team wipes. Just right now the game isn't played in a way where that is particularly viable.

The survivor doesnt even know how to loop, he doesnt cut corners, has no idea of pathing and literally walks through a pallet without dropping it and gets chainsawed afterwards
2 -
I think the survivor wanted to see if the killer respects pallets. Not sure, though. The survivors in these clips definitely didn't play optimally but my point is Leatherface seems to be underrated. You make one mistake and down you go. He's got a legit instadown unlike Plague for instance and can end chases quickly unless survivors route perfectly from one window to another.

Any Weak Killer is going to seem strong when facing weaker survivors. Apart from the basement, these are all the result of survivor mistakes.
When a Leather face and survivors both know what they're doing and play at the same level, Usually the survivors will win.

he is considered weak, as he has literally no map pressure at all, is easy to spot, can be heard (heartbeat) from miles away and his power barely finds any use in a chase.
unless you somehow manage to find a survivor in the open, your not gonna get the chainsaw hit. plus, you get heavily punished for hitting an object, while the rev time for the chainsaw is extremely high, PLUS you get a huge slowdown while doing it, but no major speed boost while using it.
he is only good for camping, which has been nerfed HEAVILY in the latest patches.

(just watched all the vids)
where did you get such bad survivors??
seriously... these videos dont rly show how "strong bubba is", but actually how bad these survivors played.
lemme break down vid #1 ("If survivors try to pallet loop this may happen:") for you:
00:00 - 00:19 you spawn in and immediately spot a jane. good for you.
00:19 - 00:30 jane completely ignores the bus window, turns away from a great loop and also does not throw down the pallet, even though you are standing right behind her.
00:30 - 00:32 jane goes down (obviously). claudette just got unlucky there.
00:32 - 00:46: claudette immediately ragequits once she realises she'd be going to the basement. the team is now down one survivor while you didnt even have to insidious camp the basement, leaving them no time to get the gens done.
00:46 - 01:07: nea screwed up the flashlight blind AND let herself get hit twice, while you were carrying the claudette (which made you slower than nea btw)
01:07 - 01:13: you hook jane #1 and jane #2 misses a skillcheck (wouldnt have changed a lot, as you would have seen her with BBQ. however, i guess she was aiming to go for that locker in order to prevent being seen. in that case, why did she only start moving after you already downed nea, instead of going for it the very second you pick up jane #1?)
01:13 - 01:14: nea ragequits.
01:14 - 01:19: jane #1 ragequits. now only jane #2 remains in this trial with 5 gens and exposed position.
01:19 - 01:26: jane #2 is standing in front of the locker she probaply wanted to use to dodge BBQ. she gave up at that point (with 3 ragequits and such an... special team, i am not rly surprised)
01:26 - 01:32: you down her and won.
see? this had nothing to do with how "good" bubba is, but is actually just showing how bad these guys played.
right now im really just hoping this is bait and you werent serious...

Should have stopped watching after the first 30 sec, "survivor trying to loop", yeah thats how it looks when a rank 20 survivor tries to loop for his first time
2 -
I'm currently playing purple ranks and the past 10-15 games didn't look much different so perhaps that's why I'm starting to think Leatherface is strong. Everytime survivors make a mistake I get the chainsaw hit ending the chase immediately. I used to main doctor who can generate some map pressure but rarely ends chases quickly so that may affect my opinion on Leatherface, too.

@Yamaoka Tbh, every single killer is really viable against average survivors. Leatherface can be destroyed by slightly above average survivors easily though.
Also, you are not running with bad addons. Beast's marks is one of the best addons for leatherface and although chili is a meh addon, combine with high speed, acceleration speed might come in handy. Leatherface is not a bad killer when you equip carburator + primer bulb, he actually becomes an upper mid tier killer. A lot of people take the base power into consideration when they place them on a tier list.
I suggest you to play leatherface without addons to see his true potential against at least above average survivors who know how to use pallets and windows.

I 4K consistently with him, but up against above average survivors he will likely lose.
0 -
@Delfador Average survivors? well that depends what you understand when talking about average.
When I talk about the average player, I assume that he has gathered knowledge of the basic game mechanics and knows how to loop, how killers work etc.
An average survivor with this knowledge will demolish leatherface in a chase, he has no tools to deal with a looper. Every window and pallet completely denies him

@Master Average survivors can loop but they fall into mindgames easily, can't assess your skill and movement patterns, can't foresee what you are going to do or not capable of understanding your way of playing. They just know how to loop, use pallets and windows. Of course it is enough against a killer who doesn't even know how to play jungle gyms, TL walls or shack etc. but it is definitely not enough if you are playing against somewhat competent killer.
If you are getting demolished by average survivors, you have to be, at best, average as a killer.

In those examles you're clearly facing potatoes. There's no way you can chainsaw more than one people if survivors have a functioning braincell (even in the basement, yes), and avoiding the chainsaw is extremely easy with the help of just a little obstacle to circle around.
Since the Hillbilly exists imo there is no reason to play LF.
0 -
I've mained Billy for a while as well but Leatherface's chainsaw appeals more to me due to the aggressive way of just swinging that beast like he wants to destroy anything in his way. That's like the only reason I prefer Bubba over Billy even though I'm way better with Billy.
0 -
Defence doesn't matter if he struggles to get one down on a surv with at least one active braincell...
He's not that bad but he's far from good either.
1 -
There are no mindgames in a loop where you can see the killer at any time. Look at the 30 sec of the video, was that a mindgame? lul
1 -
Master tier level Bubba's a force of terror, they know how to path well when to cut corners, stop chases etc. They will generally destroy everything in sight but like the swat team 4 man swf groups are extremely rare.

From a character-wise/personality-type standpoint, Leatherface is my favorite Killer. He's sooooooooo cute. lol I like how he runs with his bvody all stiff and his tantrum is adorable, omg. I want him as a pet.
HEEEEEYRRRRRRAAAAAAUUUUUUUHHHHHRRRRUUGGGHHH!!!!!!!

Well Leatherfaces defense isn't even worth bringing up when Devs punish you for it so now he literally has nothing that no one else got that hes even allowed to use.
0 -
The shack doesnt even last 8 seconds? Yeah maybe if it is run by you... lul
0 -
He isnt, but weak players play him. Thats why he is considered as a weak killer
