What's going on?
Can someone please explain me how "removing the strategic part of the game as a survivor" a QOL change?
It's obvious that seeing a fellow survivor hiding in lockers the whole match is a pain in the a** (and should be punishable), but still… I'm moving around, trying to locate gens, trying to avoid tri-gen without using one slot for Deja Vu, and I'm AFK? I'm leaving tons of scratch marks, moving from quadrant to quadrant, and I'm AFK? If I deem necessary to hide in a locker to force the Killer to look for me in that specific area, I'm AFK? No, seriously? SERIOUSLY? Do you guys even know what AFK means?
Dude… I'm getting crows over my head by simply looking around to avoid tri-gens. Deja Vu is great, but I'm definitely not using it in every match. I get crows even when I'm trying to locate a fellow survivor (that's in a chase) to try and help him/her, to try flashlight saves, flashbang saves, protection hits, etc.
Seriously… what if a Killer tunnels someone so hard that he/her manages to take that person out of the game and there's still 4 gens left, and he's chasing someone else… how are we supposed to win that match or even have high hopes in finding the hatch if we have crows all over our heads? Some matches are like that, unfortunately. If that wasn't the case, there would be no need for a mmr revamp (which has been announced already, if I'm not mistaken).
Seriously, guys, I just bought my Geralt skin… and now it's either "find 3 people that wants to play in comms and treat the match as a championship semis" or "play solo and accept that you are going to lose most of your matches because the actual mmr is not enough and keeps pairing you with people that just started the game" (or "drop the game until everything has been ironed out").
Can we achieve some balance here, please? This is definitely not QOL.

Personally? I don't think people should be punished for AFKing or going next. It's about as punishable as Killers that want to farm or any player that wants to meme. It's just part of the game. This system is too one-sided and it's micromanaging gameplay to the point that it's actually not even worth playing at all.
I'd rather see something like the scaling difficulty from 2v8 be worked on as a basekit comeback for both sides. Things that move the trial forward as opposed to adding more stress to players.

For me, it's kinda like Behavior is trying to make DbD as competitive as possible (LoL competitive level). Take away the strategic part of the game, the whole "hide and seek that becomes a tag" vibe. I like this vibe. We're facing a killer after all. It shouldn't be removed.
For main killers, they probably find the whole idea of "locating survivors" boring as f… but it's part of the whole "killer-survivor/victim fantasia".
The way things are now, I'm pretty stressed to the point of quitting a match because my team mates are hiding in the corners of the map while I'm on the hook. Someone said that, now, you have to play 20 matches to "remove 1 penalty point". Let's say your internet connection went down for a few minutes and you d/ced… 20 matches. Then you get really stressed and quit a match. +20 matches. Dude… most matches last for 15 minutes or so. Now I have to spend 10 hours playing the game (not counting the loading screens, lobbies, etc) without quitting to "remove my penalty". If, by any chance, my internet connection faulters again… probably a whole week playing or face a 30-day ban. Obviously the 24-hours-rule was better.
What is going on? It's as if as soon as the clock hit midnight, all hell broke loose.

I agree. It's what the heart of the game is, after all.
These new changes are about as anti-player as you can get. I'd much rather DBD be more like Smash where the game is developed casually for a casual audience with enough leeway that other players can make it into a comp experience if they so please. Otherwise, we're left with this experience that feels like playing Monopoly with someone that keeps changing the rules.

Killers always complain about gens popping too fast, so they introduce a mechanic where if you are not on a gen the game thinks you are AFK… so Gerush for the win?

If that is the case then there shouldn't be a DC penalty at all, and when they have killswitched the DC penalty games are a disaster, because everyone just immediately DCs as soon as anything bad happens and not a single game actually goes to completion.

The only game that punishes you for not doing Objective. As if losing and MMR drop wasn't enough.

because developers think stealthing is a problem when it is not.
all they needed to do is add a collision loss for 3 crows and make the abandon button work for killer after 10 minutes the match has started.

The crow update is awful. Collision loss for 3 crows was needed to fix body blocking, so that one's a good change, but that was it. BHVR already gave the killer the option to abandon after 10 minutes of no gens being done, so that helps with situations where survivors hold the killer hostage.
In terms of survivors who stealth and avoid objectives and teamwork, the proper fix is not to micromanage players in the match. Just change the reward system. A hatch escape is 9.5k. It absolutely rewards survivors for taking the easy road of letting their team die. The BP for both hatch escape and a gate escape should be based on participation. Look at a survivor's emblems, see if they were useful to their team with Lightbringer, taking aggro while other teammates were still alive, getting safe unhooks and healing. If the survivor did nothing during the match then they get rewarded nothing for escaping.
It'd be nice if the matchmaking system would keep track of those survivors and put them into other lobbies separate from those of us who actually participate in gameplay. That would be amazing.
We're all still going to get bad matches, that's going to happen no matter what. And we'll get teammates who stealth around because they're new or because that's what they want to do even if at the end of the match they escape and walk away with 2k BP total. But if BHVR doesn't at least change the reward system, all those players who stealth around for hatch are just going to figure out how to trick the system by tapping gens. I'm not guessing, I've seen some doing it already. I've also seen some players who just let themselves gather 3 crows and hope the killer ignores them since they're not doing anything (and yeah, the killer has ignored those players).

In 2021, I probably would've agreed with you. But in the current state of the game, the balancing doesn't allow for very many trials that don't end in steamrolls or bottlenecks. It's really a question of time management and autonomy.

What map you on, Lery's?

Totally agree. Happy to sign a petition for them to revert these silly changes. I have to miss 5 skill checks to die at the end of a match to let my survivor friend find the hatch*

completely agree

tfw the hide in hide and go seek is considered toxic

The AFK system is a bit messed up

Adk should apply to people who are actually afk or hiding in a corner doing nothing when no killer is nearby...
Go next prevention is good, needs adjustment but good. You shouldnt be able to just cripple your team for any number. Of inane reasons

Yeah it's a mess. I often run Small Game and love hunting for hex totems. Now I'm getting crows while marathoning around the map.
I, too, have spectated on people who abuse it by hiding until they get a crow or two, doing a gen just long enough to make it go away‐‐then hiding again. So it's not even helping with the cowards who wait for their teammates to die. I have zero tolerance for those players regardless of what side I'm playing, but this is not the fix.
