RESHADE
I just played an entire weekend of DBD using reshade to test the differences… HUGE advantages!!! Playing as survivor, you can judge killers’ distance much clearer and better, looping was a huge advantage as you can see the dark spots of tiles way easier, tiles with walls/fences you're able to see the killers’ stain and loop accordingly. You wont get stuck on small things in the environment (no more toe stubbing), pathing in general becomes so much easier. If you have basic game sense, good map iq, decent camera movement, reshade will make a very big difference in your gameplay. After playing both, I conclude that the advantages of reshade is unfair 100% without a doubt. Playing as killer is completely better as you can spot survivors much easier, you can see from distances that you’d never be able to see without reshade. It makes good players very good players. To say the least.
with 9.0.0 we will have in game Gamma settings introduced, this is a start. Everyone should be on equal playing field. The only visual adjustments that should be allowed are what the game itself has to offer. I hope within the next 2 years (since bhvr takes their sweet time) we get reshade bannable.
it feels totally unfair to play against others who dont have it. 100% advantageous its not even debatable.
try to test it for yourself… load in on midwitch, the swamp, or even borgo… you’ll play much better with reshade. It is totally unfair. I dont know why this hasn't been looked into on a higher level. People who use it make excuses that it doesnt improve gameplay but simply makes the colors more vibrant and easier to watch during streams. The truth is, its a huge advantage. Thoughts, comments, complaints, anybody? Thanks

I agree with you, many people say no, but Reshade brings countless advantages, it's not just something visual.

this post will be completely obsolete with tomorrow's patch, because the game will now have a Gamma system, so now everyone can have reshade, so there's no reason to complain about reshade anymore if everyone has it
🤷
as you said, reshade and Gamma are basically the same thing, so what's the point of complaining about reshade, it's an application allowed by easy anti cheat

As who said reshade and gamma are basicallly the same thing?

Congrats, you discovered that cheating is cheating.

Thank you for congratulating me, be advised you’re missing the point. The gamers using applications such as Reshade, should not be allowed to utilize them now that gamma settings are available in the game settings. And for those who say its the same thing, then why not just use the games gamma settings without filter apps? If your argument is, why complain gamma is the same as reshade…. Ok then so if its the same then only use the in game gamma settings. If you really believe that they’re both the same, stop using filter applications and only use the in-game gamma. Make sense? Probably not lol its okay

Reshade and gamma are not even remotely close to being the same

The main isssue is… how do you ban reshade? Sure, you can disable Nvidia Freestyle quite easily by just opting out, but how do you ban something that changes the monitor and not the program itself, and do so in a way that doesn't intrude on privacy greatly because a. BHVR's securities haven't been the greatest in the past and b. any sloppiness whatsoever opens them up to a major breach of GDPR if any personal information gets used in any way that was not disclosed. And when you account for all of that, a lot of monitors nowadays have ways to actively change settings such as brightness, colour, contrast etc. built into the hardware. How do you prevent that from happening?
If not impossible, it is not financially feasable or reasonable to do. The fact of the matter is BHVR would expend far more resources in trying to fix the unfixable than they would gain by trying to ban a program (when alternatives exist, down to the hardware itself).

I don't think I could play this game without reshade. Idc about its advantages, I just like color. The game genuinely looks AWFUL without it. It's just dead, everything is the same color. And things that are meant to be colorful get drowned out entirely. Reshade let's me crank that up and actually not want to gouge my eyes out while playing.

as a console player its so fun to play freddy on borgo for example and not see anything on basement or in the castle… This game have all colors in the same tone so its hard to differ one green to another…

Yeah I specifically use Reshade to get the better of Killer players tbh. Not sure why more people don't admit the huge advantages it gives you. ESPECIALLY in chase. I can see that red stain from miles away with my good old reshade on. :) I hope it stays forever. I don't see the harm in it if it's helping the more populated side of the game.

Same. I had to boost the light in the game, not to my advantage but because it is SO DARK that I can't play during the day. And everyone knows why you wouldn't wanna play at night lmao
Prior to that, I had fun little filters where I'd add PS2 tracers, deeper shadows, desaturated colors with a stronger emphasis on reds, etc. It just made the game feel more like a horror game.

yea I started playing dbd first on console with my friends, but once I learned it had crossplay AND I could put reshade on it? Never bought a pc version of something faster in my life.
