Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

So, okay I very much was in to minds of Casting of Frank Stone (and yeah this is based on opinion) I watched one of my fave YouTubers play it, and no it isn't CaseOh :D I very much did not like what I saw/watched. Bare in mind I have played Until Dawn, The Quarry, I have also played all The Dark Pictures Games, I have loved them all, some more so then others. But, the very thought of DBD sort of inspired theme game, I struggled to get on board with, very much saw it and was like nope. But just played the new silent hill 2 and was needing a new game, I thought so okay lets play ten Earth pounds, play it for the Hubbie who had more hope in this game then I. I am going to say I am very much enjoying and loving this game, it's like those other games I have played, the journey and decisions. It's like a Goosebump book where had to choose things etc, so yes can go back in the book but not the game, I can say I am very much enjoying it, I very much hold my hands up and say I didn't give this game a chance but now I am very much happy too and love all the Easter Eggs and things related to DBD.

    I also enjoyed TCoFS.

I didn´t have very high expectations and got it reduced around christmas.

It is a bit slower paced but i liked the last chapter. Also i liked the ending even if i got a bad one - but it worked.

Also i heard a lot was cut from the game. I bet this would have been better if they could finish it correctly.

I am getting to a point in the game where I am getting a little confused lol, still enjoying it, so far I have gotten just one person killed and for me and my record in these sort of games it's a miracle lol

I like the concept, but the execution left a lot to be desired imo. The plot just didn't land for me at all and certain elements that could've been stronger left me feeling really meh. Though to be fair, I am kind of a snob when it comes to story writing.

I played though TCoFS recently too, mostly because it was on sale. I wasn't even sure my PC would run it, but I gave the demo a go and surprisingly it did! In the end, the game worked ok except for the very long pauses loading stuff between scenes (and I also had to make it look like an Xbox 360 game to get a smooth framerate).

It was enjoyable, but I would have been a bit disappointed had I'd paid full price, because it felt a little bit unfinished. Like there was a lot of planned content missing or something. And I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much if I wasn't already a DBD fan.

Without spoiling anything, I also felt like the story was very much the set up to a planned DBD chapter. Like a playable bit of Tome lore. I do still hope they consider making a full chapter one day (or at least give us some of the Survivors as skins).

I pretty much got everybody Killed on my first playthrough. I'm sure you'll do better than that.

Stan was the best part of the game

What I am finding as I am playing the game is, with people randomly dying due to fates changed, it isn't the same as Until Dawn or other games I have played, I have felt like I have had two choices to flee or save, hasn't been much of a prompt and aid. It is feeling as I am playing like some people are meant to perish no matter with the story. The storyline, as I am playing isn't as strong as some as I have played, but I haven't deleted the game so that is a positive, I am still enjoying things, but I can see a few things others have.

Okay so my final thoughts on this game. I very much enjoyed the very first half of this game, it had potential, I very much loved Frank Stone, his design, both alive and ghosty type thing, I could see it as a skin on DBD and would hope it would come (can understand for reasons if not) Yet, as I played the game and from when christine got sucked into a vortex, things…..went a little south for me. Also please these are my opinions, I would love to hear others experiences, play through and endings etc, I felt like no matter what, everyone was going to die. There was only 3 times in the game I could either save someone, or haul ass, and it felt like no matter the option the result was death, even some choices I felt like it didn't add, or do anything much to my storyline. Like when I gave Stan the necklace, if I kept it what would of been different? The storyline began strong, I cana nd could accept the rest of the storyline and how it linked to DBD. I wish this game had many more options, like most of my characters fates and choices didn't really addanything to the game, also what was Stan's reason for been there? or did I miss something? I also felt the ration of story to game was not well balanced, also what happened to the baby? And what was the reason Augustine for actually wanting to release the entity?

sadly it felt too poor when you have previous experiences with games in the same genre, like life is strange, until dawn or the quarry. Personally it feels it have the same quality as "man of medan" or anything from the dark pictures production.

Man of Medan……yes, but I did like the rest of the dark pictures games.

I can answer a few of those questions.

    BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!

DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER if you are still interested in playing the game!!!

The story only makes sense if you understand that the world of Frank Stone (and by extension that of DBD) is a multiverse of different realities that the Entity can draw its sustenance from (as you know, Killers and Survivors for the trials). That's the reason why Augustine was able to build an archive full of hundreds of different versions of Murder Mill (including T-shirts from a reality that saw a "Murder Mine" film instead), each presumably containing Frank Stone's spirit , and each taken from a different universe following a different set of events. The 60's, 80's and 2024 events are actually all separate realities. The Sam in the prequel chapter is not the same Sam we meet in the 80's or in 2024. Jaime is the baby Frank is attempting to Sacrifice in the 60's chapter BUT even if you fail to save him, he'll still appear in the 80's chapter because that's a different reality in which Sam was able to save his life. It's also the reason why what happens to Bonnie in the 80's chapter isn't the way things turned out for the Maddie of 2024. A lot of this extra stuff can be pieced together further from journals, books, letters etc that you have to find, so if you weren't able to find them all, then it would be easy to miss a lot of these details. I kinda felt like it didn't really matter what happened to the 80's characters for this reason (because who am I to say that all of them dying horribly wasn't what was meant to happen in that particular reality?).

Also, Stan is the best guy to give the cursed necklace to because he's the only character you cannot save at the end of the game (Stan had Robert's part of the Film btw, in case you missed that). Though it's still possible to get Maddie to the campfire if you have her wear it, you just have to make a different set of choices to avoid being hypnotized by Augustine. As far as I gather, Augustine's plan was to curry favour of the Entity by giving it Frank Stone as a powerful Killer and offering up the world of 2024 to feed upon (I gather this backfired and the version of her that we see sacrificed at the end now serves the Entity as a Survivor in the Trials).

Anyway, hopefully that helps the story make a little more sense to you. There are some lore videos on YouTube that go into a lot more detail.

I hate to go against the grain but I thought it dragged out too long, was incredibly slow paced & everything only starts going crazy/people start dying towards the end. If I could rate it..

    Beginning - 3/10

Middle - 1/10 (most boring part and also sadly the longest)

    Towards the end - 8/10

I think it was a weak addition by Supermassive and I enjoyed any of their other games a lot more. But I'm glad others enjoyed it & got their fill. It was just a weak entry for me. Can't wait for their next one though!

Have you played other games like Untl Dawn, The Quarry and the Dark Pictures Anthology, I loved always the entrance to those games, my least fave though was Man of Medan, wasn't my favourite.

Oh yea totally! I still gotta do a playthrough UD (been putting it off sadly) but played through all the Dark Pictures & The Quarry. Favorite one for me was House of Ashes, just liked the whole storyline/plot. The Quarry was really good too. Probably in the top 3 for me.

I purchased it a few months back when it was on sale. Still yet to play it.

It was fine. Not amazing nor a GOTY contender, but I did enjoy it overall. Madison was the most relatable character for me and I felt sorry for her situation. The tale did become a bit over-inflated though, but as an individual tale it was a fun addition.

The true crime was done by BHVR, who proceeded to not make a chapter on this. The Trapper skin was a bit of a copout. At the very least, they could have made a Killer-only chapter, with perhaps the house as a map. The survivors I'd be fine to see as legendary skins, although it would have been nice to fully-realise them.

What saddens me most is that I recall years back that one of the devs said something along the lines of the survivors and killers we play are the ones who ultimately survive the nightmare, out of the untold billions who did not. This means all those people trapped never made it out. Poor Madison.
