Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

The whole "not bringing an event offering" thing

I want to start out by saying that I do bring coconut scream pies to trials. I think it's cool because it's an event and I want to participate. But I understand some people, for whatever reason, don't bring one. Maybe they don't have any. Maybe they're saving them up. Maybe they're saving up they're bp or not leveling their characters for whatever reason. I really don't know. I know some people are rather upset by it.

Especially some killers who express the desire to tunnel those who don't bring certain event offerings. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not against tunneling at all, especially when it's down to 2 gens and you need map pressure. You do whatever you have to do. But deciding, from the get go, who you're gonna tunnel based solely on your belief that they didn't bring an event offering is a little more than what I feel comfortable with as killer.

I do question if it's fair to those who DID bring the offering. Having a teammate being tunneled, especially if it's a hard tunnel early in the game, can be a miserable experience in it's own right. Because it pushes a 1v3 early and forces good survivors into a kind of "hero Olympics" to try and save their doomed teammate, leading to having to take protection hits and forced hook trades and a whole bunch of other snowballing brought about by the tunnel. Less experienced survivors, of course, will be even less equiped to handle the tunnel and what would have been a prosperous event for everybody will quickly devolve into a curb stomp.

In the end, everyone is going to play however they want. I just wanted to bring up that whenever negative stuff happens to one teammate generally also effects the rest of the team. Given the nature of dbd being an asymmetrical game where four people are playing together.

Unless the killer directly told you it was because of not bringing an offering, this is purely speculation. If this is not from your matches, then I'm curious as to where you are getting this idea.

I've had games where the only survivor that died was the one that burned the bp offering. Should I assume the killer was targeting them? It's absurd to give these odd motivations to a killer killing a survivor when thats their role.
