Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Freddy Rework

How do people feel about it. Do you think he's a lot better than what he was and do you think he's fun?

His pallets are bad. They take way too much time to activate mid-chase and entire idea of switching powers over and over doesn't go well with him. Survivors can easily stay out of dream world, limiting his pressure severely.

He is still rather a mediocre M1 killer with rather gimmicky powers.

I like him better than what he was for sure. Mostly because pallet explosion hits are SO satisfying to get. 🤣

The survivor always has the oh crap what hit me face afterwards lol

He is lot better than before but dream paletts arent that strong if you dont have map like rpd where on every strong loop you can palce it there and in narrow way around loop force survivor to get hit, what I dislike with this you can place them only on few loops on some pas early game. His teleport is good and his counterplay is preatty easy just take clock. He is much better than before in terms of power, more fluid and active gameplay now he is solid b-tier.

Im worried for him because his design still fundamentally remains pretty passive and basic yet very strong nonetheless.

his killrate was basically top 1-2 in the game.

really hope devs dont axe him

I think he is strong, very well rounded killer toolkit wise. I don't know if I'd change him honestly, he has a lot of interaction and is fun to play too.

He’s a noob stomper as so many still don’t seem to understand you can teleport to healing survivors if one’s asleep.

It's definitely an improvement, and I like the approach of adding Dream Pallets- You can just keep playing him with snares for a straightforward playstyle, but dream pallets do provide extra strength and take more work to get the hang of.

It'll always be a bummer that release Freddy's ideas weren't really salvaged into anything (I personally think the aura reading couldn't exist in the game in a healthy way, but I liked the idea of applying sleeping being a true inconvenience and being mandatory before attacking Survivors, in exchange for being unstoppable in the Dream World, that's an actual adaptation of the character) and that this can't really live up to the ideal of Freddy Krueger in DbD, but I think it salvaged the previous rework about as well as it could've.

Overall, I feel like the Freddy changes went in the wrong direction. Obviously no one can deny that Freddy needed changes, this is pretty much undeniable for anyone who played as Freddy or against Freddy from 2021 to 2025. I don't think he was the weakest killer in the game, but he couldn't be left the way he was.

However, the changes made to him failed to help him with the fact that Freddy was in a boring, uninteresting state with nothing unique on his kit, and he had been in that state since July of 2019, a fall from grace when we remember he was once the most unique killer in the game. That was the primary concern, or at least it should have been, and the rework didn't fix it, it just replaced the uninspired aspects of his kit with different but still uninspired aspects, which just happens to be based on other killers than the previous.

I'm happy for the new and remaining Freddy mains out there who are enjoying his current state and having fun with him. Freddy mains deserve the best, they always have. But unless there is another major rework or a "DBD classic 2017 / 2018" event, I just don't see myself playing Freddy that much anymore.

I would absolutely love to go back to the original Freddy. He was so fun to play against, desperately trying to wake up mid chase. I remember times where I am being healed in the middle of the map by a friend who is awake, saying "you need to miss a skill check NOW he is here", and him lunging at me, right as they miss a skill check on me. Gave the full feel of how the movies were, when awake you are safe.

I get people moaned about him being weak etc, but at least he matched what he was supposed to be and that is what I loved about him. I loved playing as him too. I haven't played him for years now

What should have happened before they reworked him was give us a Design Preview like they did with Trickster and Skull Merchant. This would have given us a chance to give feedback on him. An opportunity to see what works and what doesn't.

He isnt super strong he is somewhere in b-tier which is good and his killrates dont let the bhvr stats to decive you, they released killrates when he was fresh with his rework, always when new killer comes out or is reworked his killrates go up because survivors are finding the ways to counter him. Then killer will drop a little overtime like wesker did ( devs can change some numbers in his power or other killers get rework that makes them stronger plus new killers with strong kit like ghoul, dracula). Freddy has always had one of the highest killrates in the game both from nightlight or bhvr stats, reason for this is his mains are good with him same thing with sadako people like Onepumpwilly or whats his names are very good with her and can get much stronger team than avarage Joe, another thing is he is one of killers with not easy power to face for beginers same as sadako, pinhead, etc. so this doesnt make them op.
