Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Implement an Actual Player Blocking System

As far as I know, blocking someone only prevents you from interacting with them in the post game chat.I want the option to fully block certain bad actors:

  • Toxic killers (excessive tunneling, slugging, etc.)
  • “Sweaty” killers using full-meta builds/playstyles that give solo survivors little to no chance
  • Problematic or unfun killers (usually the Kaneki types)
  • Bully squad survivors

So that I never have to play with them again. If the game isn't going to do anything to control the massive behavioral issues in this game, then they should give the player the power to never have to play with certain people ever again.

Imagine a DBD world where all the worst survivors and killers are stuck playing with one another while the healthy community members flourish in their own bubble.

I have said this for YEARS. Even if it became a rank reset situation, If I face someone in that season who is a PoS (and I can think of MANY streamers who play like absolute dirt bags.) I should be able to click block and not see them for the rest of the season. Force me to paly with them once per season, that is fine, maybe they will grow as humans and improve when they start realising they have to wait longer for games because nobody wants to play with them.

I would love this. I can block all the compies that treat pubs like it's DbD League

    Ok... Then can I block:

    Bully squads

    Gen rushers

    Comp teams

    Survivors I don't like

    And other "bad actors"?

    According to your logic yes

Good, honestly, killer is an utter failure to what is otherwise a fun game. They should be refunding people and taking it back to the drawing board.

This is literally the only game I've seen with such caveman social features.

lol fair point. They’d likely have to reset blocks on some cadence but it’s definitely possible.

I wonder what the queue time would be like for people who are simply good at the game. Theres a streamer who hasn't bothered using perks in 5 years. Should his queue times tank simply because he knows how to loop? Im sure the killers players he goes against would find competent survivors frustrating.

Overwatch had this problem there was a sniper player who was so good everyone blocked him and his queue time was hours long

Hell yeah! Then we'll finally be able to block every live streamer or anyone with a TTV/YT/KICK on their name so they can never make monies off of this game ever again!

Goodbye Otzdarva, Hens, Tru3, Negoose, LillithOmen, Spookyloops, OhTofu, Ardetha, UltimoBushido, WhiteNoiseDesign, Linxy, NaymetiTV, Zet0r, etc! Hell Even Monto, who's recently come back after a long hiatus for the Springtrap Chapter and anniversary event! We don't need any of them posting video's of themselves shamelessly profiting off of this game!

This idea is Brilliant! The Trolling of these moochers will be epic! Give the community the power to directly destroy their livelihoods! Not even the Hackers have been able to do this, despite how hard they've tried for years! How come this has never even been considered before? BHVR needs to get on this ASAP, so the community can finally put an end to these content Profiteering streamers once and for all!

I played against that guy before. Recognized the name. I just straight up didn't chase him and went for his significantly worse teammates and won

So basically you just want yourself to have fun, but nobody else is allowed to have fun because they have to go extra easy on you so that you have an easy escape or easy 4K every match? Got it.

The devs have just built a system to force survivors to remain in all games because as long as the killer is having fun, nobody else matters.

So when I suggest that if I am going to be forced to stay in games, I should be able to say I'm not playing with this person more than once this ranking season. I should have that option. There are multiple bad streamers who stream nothing but them camping and tunnelling every hook. Why should I have to be involved in that?

How about we start showing the killer name in the lobby? So I can avoid these people. I should have some choice over what game I am going to be forced to stay in.

Yea, let's do the most brain dead implementation of this feature we're talking about in this post; it's the only way your sarcastic comment has any grounds. Like why would we implement it in a way that let users block players they've never matched up with.

lol yea okay that's what I want. You sir are toxic; have a good weekend.

This post gives big LTG vibes, games where the avoid/block mechanic is present normaly it is used against people who just are better than you or tilted you in some regard. The other type of them are genuinly problematic players/griefers but dbd has no voice chat and you can hide post game chat so those people are easily ignored.

There is a lot more to being someone you don't want to play with in DBD than the voice chat.

Being camped, tunnelled and slugged repeatedly by the same person because they are a PoS is a prime example of this. They aim to ruin the game for players, why should I have to play with them? Maybe if their pool of available players kept reducing over the course of the month they might actually make an effort to play the game for enjoyment rather than to ruin it for others, or maybe they will just leave? Surely that is better for the community than all the people leaving due to being camped/tunnelled/slugged each game.

Stop thinking we have to protect poor players. Survivor is the queue that is super quick now, there is an abundance of killers. We can afford to lose the toxic ones.

Alright, I'll be serious then, since you obviously don't understand the consequences Illustrated in my "sarcastic" response, let me spell it out for you:

This discussion is the exact reason why the devs blacklisted MLGA for PC players before the dedicated servers were established.

"MLGA is a mod that shows you the pings of people in your game lobby. The idea is that if the ping is too high you have the chance to dodge that lobby in order to not get stuck in a laggy/ unfair game. It also has a feature that allows you to add players to a list and tag them as either "blocked" or "loved", so you can avoid certain people who play in a way you don't like."

MLGA was being heavily abused by players blocking others and essentially rigging the game so that they would only play against players of lower skill than themselves. BHVR recognized how abusive the ability to block players was being, and rightfully Blacklisted MLGA in Easy Anti Cheat so that no one would be getting blocked anymore. This was back when DbD was still peer to peer connection, and MLGA only worked for that kind of game. However, despite its Blacklisted status in EAC, some players still figured out work arounds and were able to continue abusing it, and BHVR were forced to start banning players caught using MLGA, all the way up until the Dedicated servers were set up, which finally made MLGA useless.

The worst part about it was the effect it was starting to have on the Fog Whisperers/Streamers for the game, as they found themselves frequently trolled by being added to many players Blocked lists, forcing them to wait longer and longer just to get into a match with anyone, and costing them what essentially was/is their lively hood. It's because of this and the many other functions of MLGA (including only favoriting or "loving" inferior players so they could relentlessly bully them), that BHVR heard the outcry from the player base at the time, and made the right call to ban MLGA.

The Bottom Line: MLGA was a tool that allowed DbD players to do exactly what this post is talking about, and it was such a problem for the DbD community that BHVR took measures to Blacklist it, and even outright banned players for using it.

@KeefCheif what you're asking for is essentially the same thing as MLGA, but integrated into the core of the game, by the developers, who already Blacklisted that program because of the damage it was causing to the DbD community, and you think they'll actually consider this suggestion? ... Good Luck.
