"Purple bottle is used more, so we nerf it"
Devs you never played your own game do you?
Purple are used more because it's Clown's CHASE TOOL! You NEED MULTIPLES of it to injure and down survivors in loops, and slow down is just better than speed up in most cases.
Whereas Yellow bottles are use mainly for mobility, just to get around the map faster. 1/2 bottles are already enough. Unless you're really good with Clown, you don't really use it in loops, just because it can BACKFIRE as Survivors can also benefit from it too.
So number-wise purple is ALWAYS used more, and there's no problem to it at all. So why would you feel the need make changes based on the bottle used ratio??

I personally would like to see the data that they used to determine that this was the play to make.. Of course they wont show it. When bhvr releases any "stats" it's never the full picture.

I'm not necessarily saying the change is a good idea - it depends very heavily on how much lower the number is, so I can't say for sure until I've been on the PTB - but I do think people are being a little uncharitable to the reasoning given.
To me, it didn't read as "You're using the purple bottles too much so we're nerfing them", it read as "the value of Clown's power was weighted too disproportionately towards the purple bottles, so we're evening the value out to make both bottles appealing".
I don't think it's as much about the literal statistical ratio as much as it is evaluating how Clown's power is designed and how the bottles are used or not used. I don't think it's absurd to suggest the yellow bottles require a lot more effort for not that much better reward, so I don't think it's insane to proactively weaken the purple bottles while buffing the yellow ones to avoid things getting out of hand.

I said this as soon as I read the rundown. Obviously purple bottle is annoying as hell for survivors, but its basically his only tool to catch outside of just hoping they make a mistake. All this change does is move the power from the slow into haste for himself, doing absolutely nothing to the actual strength or annoyance of Clown..

I'm no expert on how to play Clowm but I do believe that these changes makes him stronger. It's going to be a little bit annoying for people who don't use yellow bottles in chase that much like me for example 😅

They both have the same speed modifier, if I'm right.
Purple Bottle is -10%, Yellow is +10%.
The only difference is the way they can be modified (purple have a much better add-on - Flask of Bleach), and the fact Yellow bottles take time to work and buff survivors in edge cases.

They just buffed some underused survivor items to get them used more and didn’t nerf medkits etc because people used them more, they could’ve just buffed the yellow and maybe given them seperate ammo counts. It’s just weird how they nerf things they think killers are using too much to make them use something else rather than just buffing other stuff to give killers more appealing options for variety
-2 -
Well, yeah, different items aren't part of the same whole.
A killer's power is equivalent to one item, not items in general.
As to the last point, they are buffing the other stuff - they're buffing both Clown's yellow bottles directly, and buffing both bottles by making reloading less of a pain point. The purpose of nerfing the purple bottles proportionally is to make sure Clown doesn't get out of hand, and to make sure that the bottles provide equalised value, not just "killers use it too much so it's being nerfed".
Again, I'm not necessarily saying it's a good idea, I just think the way people are conceptualising it isn't that helpful and is a little bit unfair.

I just see this has clown's skill floor and possibly ceiling is being raised. Should be fine if you're good at clown.
2 -
Isnt that plain wrong? Yes, the yellow bottles are harder to use, but you need both to be good in chase.
A clown who doesnt use the yellow bottles will never be a good clown. So you should invest the time if you want to play a strong clown.
For example: i suck at Billy. Or better said at curving. So i get better results if i never use it and only backrev the chainsaw and use it for mobility. But thats my fault. I couldnt complain when they removed the charge addons and made the killer harder to use. (Well, was a overnerf at that time, but current billy is stronger than instasaw billy).

Yes, you need both bottles to be a good Clown. I said that in my post.
But I'm just totally sick of them going for "it's used more, so it's clearly too good, so we nerf it" route, again, again and AGAIN...

Everyone is ignoring the first 2 lines in the patch but they increased move speed while reloading and decreased bottle reload time, that's probably the real reason for this nerf to compensate for the buffs, they don't really care if you use yellow bottles or not

In fairness, the purple bottle is the most annoying thing about Clown so encouraging the well underused yellow piss bottles is probably not the worst idea. Clown can be pretty strong in chase if you do use yellow properly but I notice very few people ever do.
Not saying Clown is strong by any means but it does seem like one of the better parts of his kit is criminally under-utilised

because majority of clowns only use purple slowdown and nothing more,
behavior and clown mains want to use both, the yellow bottle isnt just for "mobility" its also a chase tool.
im not a clown main and i managed to use the yellow bottle in chase alot more then purple around a 40/60 split,
its still a much easier pick and alot more value to gain, but you shouldnt be spamming it in chase 24/7
this just feels like a complained because you cant slowdown spam onto the survivors anymore, which you still can, just less effective to do so without the yellow.
we still have a ptb comming up, so time will eventually tell if this is true or not.0 -
It's "underused" by clueless Clown players.

My guess is that they will revert the numbers (hinder 15→10 %) and haste from 10 % to 15 %
0 -
My concern is that reduced hindered/intoxication time will lead to way more successful fast vaults against Clown.
Shutting these down was a huge part of his current power level.

Clown is very strong in 1v1, but apart from his antiloop he has nothing. :D he basically force pallet drop, 50/50 but then he has nothing else. All i see Clown using yellow bottle for is carrying to hook.

Well now nobody will play the Clown at all. The purple bottles might as well not exist. The hindered effect lasts for about one second. Old Freddy's traps were more effective.
1 -
do you realize that 10% movement speed difference is pretty much useless for map traversal?
main application of yellow bottles has always been to create massive speed difference between clown and the survivor to shut down a loop
2 -
sounds like a you issue, clown is good and overall got a buff, but yes, focus on the negative and never improve
-2 -
Don't make me do the math on you

Yes and antiloop is the most important thing in a killer's kit. You can make up for lack of map mobility with your own gamesense and skill but you can never replace a bad chase power. And I will say it again, if the Clowns you go against only used yellow for hooking then you never played versus a competent one.

Horrible change. That extra 3 percent doesn't come close to Clown's purple bottle getting gutted. Why does BHVR have to nerf something the same time they "buff" something yet Blight and Nurse are still the way that they are?
4 -
My issue is, looking at the raw stats and value changes, it doesn't make yellow bottles more appealing, it just makes playing clown, period, less appealing.
5 -
I did make that comment before we could see the value changes :P
Now that I've seen them, though, I could live with the Hindered percentage change but I'm concerned about how much less time it lingers for. I could see that being a problem for him.

“Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Someone is queueing as The Clown tonight. Go and body them for a quick ego boost. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am queueing as The Clown."

The only “balance” Clown needed was that BOTH Flasks create a white cloud for 1-2 seconds before the color changes. Then adjust the spread/lingering of his gases via add ons.
If both tonics operated in a similar way the survivors must guess which tonic he/she thinks the Clown placed somewhere. This simple change, especially with old VHS that changed the colors of the tonics, would make Clown a better killer.
Until they do that Clown will always be a mediocre killer.1 -
Clown hasn't been a mediocre killer since january 2021, my dude. And it's on you if your smokes keep getting yoinked by survivors. This pretty much never happens in my matches.
