Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why do we not get it

During the anniversary celebration why do not killers get that if we all have fun and play the game casually that we all get massive blood point? I've played 3 games today and all 3 are of killers aggressively hooking survivors. Averaging 15k in blood points. If we played casually like last night we would have 260k easy all using out offering for the multiplier. Can we not realize working together makes more sense?

this is why I'm only playing EndTrap for this event; we all get bloodpoints, then you get a spooky surprise at the end.

Farming is so unbelievably boring. I would rather get 50% bp than farm

It's not about farming but having a good time and getting the added blood points as a bonus. Blood points helps everyone i don't care who you are.

I’ve been playing the event every time I log on, and I can assure you it has not eased up at all on the survivor side. It’s still atrocious. I’m just playing it because it’s retiring.

Yeah I’ve been playing with a friend (in a duo), for the event. Why do you say that, is solo having a better time in the event or something?

Friend? It's been just as sweaty and nasty on Killer. This is how events go. Either you sweat and get points, or the other side does and you get no points.

    This is bad event design.

Average event experience in DBD, sadly.

Some players out there really do sweat as much as possible during events.

"Killer, why are you so efficient and not playing the event properly? Be softer, it's for fun and points..."

Meanwhile: 4 toolboxes — 2 with brand-new parts — gens getting juiced right in front of the killer, throw in 2 styptics for variety, and of course 2 flashlights so the killer can’t even get a hook.

    Both sides are sweating hard.

    As always, I guess

I don't think they're suggesting everyone needs to farm. Just maybe pump the breaks if the other side is getting their teeth kicked in. I swear every event brings out the turbo try hards on both sides.

    this goes both ways

and tbh this the only AND ONLY community that gets even sweatier and tryhardy in events

    it makes 0 sense.

its like bloodpoints are gonna run away or something

And hence why I say any event designed around increasing BP by doing the objective is bad event design. Events should not encourage doing the objective harder, they should encourage interacting with the event special stuff. The special hooks, the special gens, the special anything that isn't a sidequest? Should go. I also hardcore think Bloodfeast type bonus weeks should go, just make the game give us all more BP by default or add a multiplier on the end for the score overall. Make the objectives give zero extra points outside the norm, and just slap a doubling or tripling multiplier on the result at the end that goes for everyone playing, that cannot be that hard to code. They did it in Blood Moon so I KNOW it's not hard to do - and I hope it's what they do in future anniversary events. Then add extra things you CAN do for BP, like the Twisted Masquerade totems or getting and using the invites. Those are fine.

You know why they stopped doing the Chinese New Year and BBQ events? Because the way it was designed felt boring and added nothing new besides some stuff to get for points, everything was about pushing the event objectives harder and harder. You know why people seem to enjoy Haunted by Daylight and Bone Chill more? Because the bonus stuff you can do gives points outside of just doing hooks and gens.

Events should alter gameplay and add an event multiplier, NOT make the players want to sweat more.

There’s one huge problem I see here: the players who go into matches to win don’t care about Bloodpoints. They’re not in it for the points — they already have multiple Prestige-100 characters stacked up.

Bloodpoints are always a weird incentive, because they’re honestly so easy to farm anyway. Especially for active players — the exact ones who tend to "sweat" the most.

Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I get different lobbies. I play EU nighttime (after midnight), and in the lobbies I land in, no one is playing for points. And especially during event times, the whole 'hardcore sweating' problem is still a thing — and I fear that the very lobbies where that’s an issue are the ones that’ll keep sweating no matter what.

It’s a nice idea, don’t get me wrong — but I just don’t think Bloodpoints are what actually make people change how they play, sadly. The real sweatlords (on both sides) are just going to optimize the event the same way they optimize everything else.

At least for long-term, active players, it really comes down to the community. People play how they play — they’ve got their playstyle locked in, and they’re gonna sweat through events exactly like they do in regular games.

What might help (just a thought) is limiting offerings, addons/items, or even perks during events — but I know that takes a ton of extra dev work and planning. It’s only really worth it for something like a special mode (like 2v8).

Maybe I’m wrong. But I fear that a bigger BP reward won’t change anything about how people approach these matches.

While I don't disagree with you entirely, my friend, I do think the summer events should return, because I think those are nice.

The statistical answer is that the killer challenges for the twisted masquerade are very Kill based. You have to kill 25 survivors in order to complete the quests and get the same reward progression as survivors. Emotionally, it varies from person to person. Some see the anniversary offerings giving a big boost to bp as a cushion so if they go all out it won't suck as bad for the survivors, taking around 8,000 for an early survivor death to 21,000 and on par with later game survivors and the ability to move on to the next game. And as other comments have said; not everyone gets enjoyment from farming matches. Like life, all we can do is communicate and see the response. Offer an item and act friendly with the killer only for them to hit you? They don't want to be friendly, time to play the game with that in mind. It's a cooperative game beyond just survivors, people will play how they play and that should be respected.

Are people gonna be jerks sometimes? Of course. But the killer who's determined to make the match not fun for survivors are just the same as survivors who spam loud noises, t bag, and constantly go for pointless blinds. People will be people, what matters isn't that they play the way WE want them to and more that they're not going out of their way to make it so you can't enjoy the game somehow.

Killers who tunnel one person right off the start of the game do not equal Killers who just want to kill and get max points in Devout or Malicious: those are mechanics of the game.

BP are fine until you really have no need for BP anymore. Almost all of my killers and survivors are level 10+ (and for the moment I have 0 interest in getting every killer/survivor to 100), with my main few at 100 so for me BP are like ehh 🤷‍♀️

When I'm playing killer in the Twisted event, OR normal mode, I play to win not let the survivors frolic around doing gens, flashlighting me, or whack me with a pallet. I'm also trying to make my way through the remaining Tome challenges I have left since those are expected to disappear within a year.

I don't care about BP a whole lot but farming is a nice, friendly break from rough matches. The concept has been dwindling for awhile though, at least on my end. Chill killers are getting rarer.

The event is miserable as a survivor. I'm doing just enough to unlock cosmetics and whatnot and that's it.

What I don't get is killers who bother to bring cake and then tunnel people out, or slug everyone right away and we all get no points. Just out yourself at the start and bring a personal offering.
