Play this game as Solo Survivor is absolutely miserable and frustrating, u cant do anything in matches. Every match u can see what will do after 10 seconds froms the start and every time u got face agaisnt extremely boring and frustrate situation. Its a MMR problem? what is happen? U face against P100 and million hours killer and your teammates just hide in a corner and wait or simple dont know how make simple things. SoloQ is absolute frustrating.

Survivor mains are masochists, and killer mains love the power trip as much as if not more than Reddit mods.

This game is alive as people enjoy it despite all the misunderstandings and differences. It gives emotions. That's why people play it.
3 -
I still have fun playing both sides, idk.
People say you have to be insane to enjoy the game, but really, once you hit a level of understanding it becomes fun. The real issue is the game takes a LOT of time to understand.16 -
Essentially no competition (every other horror assym is either dying or dead).
Immense variety and rng makes every games feel a tad different (although most of them end in the same boring way, with one person slugged for 4 minutes or until their last teammate gets downed).
Regular content update keeps bringing people back.
Enough big Youtubers/streamers to keep the game relevant even during it's worst periods.
Even if SoloQ is miserable, playing with friends is actually fun most of the time even if you lose.
Popular licenses, together, with more joining as time goes on, which no other game in this style ever had, and likely never will have again.

I love playing both sides. Soloq or not. Just me though.
1 -
True it's really hard and I lose more than I escape, most of the time game decides to put me in a killer sided maps and I hate it😭
3 -
Addiction.
i don't get how it works
people play this game, get annoyed and instead of quitting they keep playing
tho tbh it can be fun at times, some silly survivor or killers can break the mold on the frustrating aspects of this game
6 -
for solo q you have to accept you will die most of the time that's just how it is with current balance… try to shift your focus you're playing to farm blood points and for fun, escape is a bonus

Honestly man, try running my perk build and let me know how it goes.
Dark sense, deja vu, sprint burst, premonition
Those 4 perks and item of your choice will help you, and yeah randoms will hide until u initiate chase for long

I love this game, and despite me not liking one of the recent killers, when BHVR do Q and A's they usually hit some of the nails on the head regading my concern. I love seeing people overcome tough situations and against the odds, just like a horror game/movie plot.
I also enjoy talking to people on here about the game, people come up with a lot of good ideas.1 -
Yeah, I have seen too many "doing gens, u?" in my games lately. Pretty sure @HeroLives can attest to that fact, since we have been playing a lot of duos.
And it usually ends up with me running the killer around until I eventually exhaust all corners of the map.3 -
I think it's gonna stay alive but sometimes I wonder will the game popularity decrease given all the nerfs to survivor side. You still need 4 survivors agains't one killer so if the game becomes too much in favour of one side it's not probably good for longevity.
But at least few things will always keep survivor side alive. It's nice side to take break from killer if you don't play competively. It's the only side you can play with friends apart from 2vs8 gamemode. SoloQ is bad but there are still some good matches which make you go back.

You got it.
A lot of people don´t understand that the passion and rage this game can inflict is a big reason it is still successful.
3 -
what nerfs did survivor side get?
-6 -
Solo queue can be frustrating at times. For example, yesterday I played about 10 matches and escaped 2 out of 10. Teammates were absolutely atrocious - I literally had <100 hour players in about a third of my lobbies.
The non-functional matchmaking system is by far the biggest reason for frustrating solo queue experience. There is zero reason whatsoever that a player like me, with about 2,500 hours in the game and no problem escaping with competent teammates, should be getting matched with literal brand new players. Blame BHVR’s garbage matchmaking system. When I get experienced teammates who know how to play, it’s usually fun and competitive even in solo queue.1 -
there is just something about dbd that just keeps me hooked (no pun intended). It could be that i like horror movies like halloween kills or saw. It could also be me waiting for a certain license (jurassic world/indoraptor).

yes it’s true. Love your build too. Very good 👌

Over the years? Plenty.

Remember how the game was before 6.1?
9 -
Is this a joke?

I was talking about recent nerfs (past year). The comment was about popularity decreasing due to “survivor nerfs”, so I assumed we were talking about changes that have happened recently. If we’re talking about all changes that have happened since the game was released, that’s going to be a lot of nerfs and buffs on both sides.
-1 -
No. I assume by your sarcastic response that you can list plenty of nerfs that survivors have received recently. Please inform me. And don’t list things without also noting changes on the killer side. This has to be in the context of net overall nerfs/buffs to either side. Please explain how survivors have received a net nerf vs killer side any time in the recent past.
Or just downvote with no response - that’s the best way to win the argument.-5 -
It's fun if you don't take it serious. Though I do better as killer and think it's easier, I find the role more fustrating. I like survivor because it's harder but it's also as silly as I want it to be. I'm usually laughing at everything, especially when I bring meme perks. And honestly, when you land a good team in soloq and you mesh amazingly with each other, it's the best feeling. Killer victories are too lonely.
But yeah, the MMR is trash. I played a killer for the first time as a trial recently, I didn't even have them unlocked, and the whole lobby was high prestigers. I didn't stand a chance. My killer lobbies tend to be high performers, despite me being a merciful killer with an average kill rate. My soloq survivor lobbies are wildly uneven but usually full of low-performers who hide in lockers and behind rocks. I'll be the p100 and they're all p1-5. It's not uncommon for me to have games were only 2 gens get done and I did both of them alone.

very similar experience here. Many of my survivor lobbies have literal brand new players. Just in the past week I’ve seen at least a dozen with less than 50 hours, and it was not due to lobby backfills. When survivor queue times are instant there is zero excuse for the matchmaking to be this bad. I would gladly wait a minute or two in a survivor lobby to get matched with players closer to my skill/experience level.

Obviously in the recent past survivor has been receiving less nerfs overall, but the comment you replied to never specified recent nerfs and you also didn't share that same idea that in your original comment. Maybe next time be more clear with your message and then you won't have people responding to you sarcastically.

Well heres the thing. A decent amount of people play with friends. We can't really tell how much of dbd is games that are 2, 3 or four mans since the last stats we had of those are from 2017 but the only way you realistically keep going in dbd is either playing killer or with at least 1 other person.
1 -
Yeah I wish I could elect to wait a bit for a better lobby. I'm willing to wait 5 minutes to not have a terrible match.
Btw, do you have this same name in the game? It always looks familar to me. If so, we've probably played together before.
1 -
With the targeted 40% escape rate for Survivors, we veteran players probably die as often as the new players, and that's why we're getting matched with them in lobbies.
4 -
Considering how the queue times for killer seems to be increasing, and incentives have been on survivor for … a few months now? Survivor definitely is in a current state that people have to be bribed to play it, and even then killers are still waiting 5+ minutes while survivor is instant. I would agree it should be cause for some concern. Hopefully the changes in phase 2 will help with some of these pain points but.. I have seen others point to the “anti-face camping” when we thought we were getting “anti-camping” and am a bit worried the anti-slug and anti-tunnel are going to be similar. But we will have to wait and see! Cautiously optimistic.
1 -
Yeah, I think they're only looking to address the most egregious cases of tunneling and slugging (i.e. The first person they see at the very start of the match, ignoring everyone else until that first Survivor is dead, or the four-man bleed out at five gens). They've said multiple times that they don't want to eliminate tunneling and slugging as legit strategies.
So if we don't notice any major differences after these features are implemented, it'll just mean that it wasn't as big a problem as people claimed. The only Killers that would be affected would be the ones who swear by tunneling and slugging from the get-go.
-1 -
That’s a total fair, and rather interesting point. Because if changes to tunneling or slugging are made and we dont see much of an improvement in solo q quality of games, or the wait times for killer vs. survivor, then that does mean that tunneling and slugging were never really that much of an issue to the point where people would stop playing survivor because of it.
At the same time, it would also mean that the survivor role is still very unpopular in comparison to killer even without tunneling or slugging which would be an entirely different cause for concern. It’s almost like a mystery illness and treating the patient for multiple things. You can rule out one cause, which does get you closer to the solution, but it still doesn’t end the suffering of the patient. It will be interesting to see regardless, and any progress being made towards better quality of life is commendable. Here’s hoping!
1 -
Its alive because lots of people including me find it fun, not everything is perfect and thats why this game is so interesting and unique, also if solo queue had better comms more killers would be inclined to tunnel since it would matter even more to get the kill
-2 -
Besides what other people said above it's the only multiplayer game that I can play as Nemesis (more accurately his arms).
Same for my friend who mains Wesker and Dracula (including the "playing with their arms" part).1 -

-
Pretty much. Survivor always fights for the hope they'll get to play even to the detriment of their own time and energy, while Killer wants enough power to dominate and takes it personally if they don't. Sweaty SWFs fall into the latter too.
4 -
Yeah, the information floor you have to be at to have fun is really high relative to other games. It's not mechanically demanding at all, you just have to have enough learned and stored game sense. When you've been playing for years it's easy to lose sight of that. The new player experience must suck out loud at this point.
But I also enjoy playing both sides a great deal (and yes, solo queue) most of the time. I definitely have moments, even when I'm playing well, where I ask myself why I am doing it.
But as far as how to have fun in DBD over the long term, there are two ways, imo:
- Play an S/A-tier killer or in a 4-man comms squad and sweat your balls of to negate risk of losing
- Don't take this unserious game seriously, and play for the lulz
2 -
Couldn't say it better myself, you nailed it.

All of which have been entirely justified. Deadhard was problematic, 5 second DS was problematic, Made for This was insanely problematic. A lot of maps were ridiculous. Medkits are still the strongest item after being nerfed heavily, it was justified entirely (even if killing the identity of the different medkits kinda sucks).
Can you give me examples of survivor nerfs that you feel are entirely unjustified or unfair?-7 -
Can you give me examples of survivor nerfs that you feel are entirely unjustified or unfair?
Well, my friend, a few immediately come to mind:
Adrenaline nerf, DS losing its 5 second stun, most map reworks (Coldwind realm in particular), introduction of new tiles to the game, Iron Will nerf, Self-Care nerf, Balanced Landing nerf, Distortion nerf, and the gradual deterioration of the stealthy playstyle, although that also affects stealthy killers, so I am not sure if it counts.
There could be more though.
6 -
Licenses and new game modes are what is carrying the game. The game got a massive influx of players from 2v8 and FNAF. Nothing to do with the actual quality of the base game.
1 -
I enjoy playing both sides. Most of my survivors matches are either soloQ, or Duo.
You just need to have correct expectations and don't take it seriously.-1 -
We simply HATE playing in 1st person because of that.
I want to play Nemesis, not his arms!0 -
Adrenaline and DS were both objectively overpowered and are still both extremely strong (DS debatably being S-tier). Adrenaline was particularly unhealthy as it just incentivized reckless injured genrushing, it wasn't in a third of all builds for just no reason.
Most maps have been reworked to not be ridiculously safe for survivor, even Coldwind has good survivor maps like Fractured where there's a lot of pre-droppable safe pallets.
Iron Will is almost entirely the same now, with it simply being limited by exhaustion, which with how powerful the effect is (especially in chase for holding W away from a tile) is warranted. I will agree the original nerf was stupid and killed the perk, but it is now in a more healthy spot.
Self care at 50% allowed you to heal at a 100% efficiency rate, as instead of having 2 teammates occupied in one healing action for 16 seconds, you occupy only yourself/1 person for 32 seconds assuming no perks involved. If Self-care was 50% with the currently available healing perks it would devastate the meta, as that's only like 16% short of medkit healing speeds.
Balanced Landing I don't recall being nerfed, outside of it not reducing your fall stagger permanently, which is entirely justified and needed to happen as it simply opens up way too many possibilities in infinites. If the map design was more sound and accounted for this maybe it would be fine, but at the same time having every map accommodating for 1 perk is also impractical.
Distortion's nerf single handedly made aura perks 10x more common as their viability skyrocketed. I agree the perk is useless now, but I was seeing 2 distortions every game on average, and even a quad aura reading build couldn't break through the tokens regenning constantly. It should be adjusted from where it is to a better spot in between.
Stealth is dying as a playstyle because is impacts gen efficiency, most survivors don't care to stealth anymore because they aren't afraid of the killer/afraid of chase. Why hide when generally my teammates will do gens if I'm found and chased?0
