Clowns can now shut their brains off
Hate to say it folks but with the clown changes gone through clown lost the little skill he had no reason to use purple bottles since they nerfed the duration.
I can now mindlessly throw yellow bottles at my feet and be 15% faster most of the match and even higher if I run haste add-ons and haste perks.
Haste Clowns are upon us. We tried to warn y'all.

With this combined with the fact somebody elsewhere on the forums saying the "go next" prevention system is back without fixing the tunneling bug, the Clown could potentially be used as the ultimate machine in causing many unwarranted penalties to survivors.
Putting something back in without changing the bug is absolutely ridiculous. I don't feel BHVR tested half the stuff. It's disappointing.

Oh and don't forget that Smoke Bombs are also bugged (and have been bugged for four years now) and won't start chase for killers, which means that if you encounter a tunnelling Clown you're basically SOL, or even better, if you're given a party hat by Pig she can essentially chase you to death, because it means her active traps will continue to count down.

I love that BHVR inform more and listen much more to the playerbase than before. I just don't understand why they did not listen this time.
Clown was mostly FINE before this update. Now he's not.

I played against some clowns yesterday and I can confirm that he's not fair. He can use two add-ons and have 17% haste whenever he wants. How did this get out of the PTB and into the normal version without anyone from the BHVR team thinking it was op? I hope BHVR doesn't take too long to nerf the clown, because he's ridiculous.

I imagine them rolling back so many killer changes in the past few updates has management cracking down and demanding results. I can't imagine the amount of dev bandwidth that was wasted on some really weird changes, the higher ups are probably wondering why they are spending money these changes just to undo them.
Them just pushing it through for the sake of it is the old BHVR I know, and I hate it.

It would definitely be upper management wanting to see results from the people who are actually doing the coding.
Or, more accurately, someone higher up is looking at data and spreadsheets and trying to balance the game purely around the numbers, instead of actually taking the time to play the game themselves to see where the problems actually are.
Because, and let's be honest here, listening to purely player feedback is an even worse way of getting an unbalanced game, even more than it is already.

Scott Jund opinion successfully regurgitated. Let's not pretend before these changes that clown gameplay was sophisticated. the vast majority of clowns just spammed pinks and held W to catch up. the real problem is the unwillingness of clown mains to learn to use both bottles for maximum impact.

I ran battery's and Rapid brutality with clowns makeup kit and cheap gin bottle I can maintain 20%-25% Haste for most of the match.
He's genuinely Op now and his skill is braindead as well

It's a really concerning trend. There's not a ton of alignment between killer strength and skill ceiling anymore.

Only people who don't play (or play well) Clown ever said that. The actual complains always were about his identity, playstyle and giga nerfs to purple bottles and related addons. And 3 weeks later, it is evident that they almost completely ignored the feedback they received. Me or several other Clown players warned on the day of PTB release that this rework would lead to him becoming a brainless Haste machine never bothering with purple bottles (which are what Clown is all about and should have stayed about) ever again and that's exactly what happened.

The previous buff to the yellow bottles already made them somewhat overturned, people not knowing how to use them correctly is irrelevant. The only thing they achieved by nerfing one bottle to improve the other is to force the Clown to be played with the brain turned off. The skill expression has been reduced, he is overal weaker and more boring to play as, and even worse to face because extreme haste effects are annoying. What is the purpose of spamming one color or the other? At least it used to make sense to use both bottles.

Played against one yesterday with STBLF + Rapid and it felt like cheating. Granted it was on the new garbage map but Im thinking something needs to be adjusted.

Every killer has a power cooldown or reduced movement speed when use m2 (Huntress/Trickster/even Sprintrap) he was braindread to use killer before now it's even more, only way to win him is to rush gens with best toolboxes which is not fun at all! He needs a good rework and proper power cooldown/reduced speed while m2😊

I think there is no scenario where survivors can win against this combination of current Clown + Haddonfield.
It might just be impossible.

Before the changes you just threw the purple bottles at survivors and the survivors couldn‘t do a thing if the pallet wasn‘t strong enough. Pair that with brutal and bambuzle and survivors couldn‘t do anything.

If I play Clown again following these changes, this will be my philosophy:
No yellow bottles. I refuse.
They said they made these changes because people were using purples too much/yellow's not enough (despite yellow's taking more skill and prep which was the point of them in the first place).
So, I'll never use them then. Just to prove a point.

Reposting this post I put on the Subreddit here so it has a better chance the Devs see it.
As someone who is a bit of a Clown main (only behind Bubba for my top played Killers), these new Clown changes are a monumental failure. The original intent of these changes was to encourage Clown players to use both sets of bottles more actively, which on paper isn’t a bad idea, but the execution of these changes are resulting in the exact opposite of the intended outcome. For starters -The Hindered Linger now being only 1 second is a massive blow to Clown’s purple bottles, especially considering current Vigil and how it’s in the meta, making the 1 second linger only 0.5 seconds very often. -Combined with the nerf to hinder being only 14% compared to its previous 15% is quite noticeable, causing less use of the purple bottle. yes it’s only a 1% difference but in a game like DBD, 1% can make all the difference between if the Killer gets a hit or not. -Now the major changes, to the yellow bottles are completely borked. They allow Clown to go at Mach 10 speeds, especially when combined with haste perks like Play With Your Food, Rapid, Batteries, etc. and the 1 second activation for yellow removes the skill required to get real value out of yellow bottles as well, as now it’s easy to just throw a yellow bottle directly in front of you instead of planning and landing the bottle a bit away so you reach it as it turns yellow. This makes the Clown’s play style go from a more tactical play style to one that’s pretty brainless.
And with how good yellow bottles are now, and the nerfs to purple, most Clowns aren’t using purple bottles basically at all now, leaving us back at square one of one bottle type being used far more than the other, though this time arguably a lot worse, as even before these changes most skilled clowns agreed that yellow bottles were actually quite good and should be utilized. That’s even one of the main takeaways from the big thousand plus page Clown guide.
So my advice to BHVR, is to revert most of the changes back to how they were in live before this update, and to only keep the changes to VHS Porn, Cigar Box and the bottle reload change, as Clown was in a healthy spot before this update, and now is becoming a problem for the games health.

They did him bad, real bad now his yellow is good to be spawned and then purple, purple is crap now the 1% nerf isnt the issue the real issue is the hinder basicaly works only in purple smoke (and no they didnt make purple smoke spread further increesing its range that would be to smart for them to do) so when survivor runs from purple he is just after 1 second which is nothing 100% speed and yellow can still be aplied for survivors to. Normaly I didnt agree with everything from content creators but now scot jund claimed clowns will tunnel more and theres nothing surprising abaut that killers with no mobility and weak power (mainly chase/antiloop oriented) tend to do this more because their time to get across map to get new chase with survivor who they know where he is is just huge time waste for them, its much more rewarding to patrol around hook. Now clowns will just pick addons for yellow like that which makes 17% speed buff and will be more tunneling Idk what was bhvr thinking this changes will bring.

Thats terrible philosophy more likely you dont want fallow what they want you to do and thats use more yellow but now there realy no point to use purple (you will use them on loops where you used before yellow same way to set up speed and hinder and then get the survivor ) they cant slow survivor down when he is out of smoke before the hinder ligered sor 2 seconds after he left purple smoke now its second which is nothing and vigil is now meta your slow is best on loops where you can keep survivor in one place drop yellow near or under you hit purple where you want to slow him and push him to get that hit. You should now just play only yellow because theres no real point playing purple now only in few scenarios and they will just cost you more time like it did with yellow. Devs want him to be more strategic with both bottles but thats realy hard to do because holding w is good even against clown and is super time consuming to play both bottles on every loop, now its much better option to use just yellow and have in mind survivors can get speed from them too.

I just think it's really funny that Skull Merchant got nerfed into the dirt because of her conditional haste (a tiny 2%? based on each recent scan) and moderate hinder (-10% after the third scan) and yet clown basically gets 15% and more worth of haste for free.

This is a shame. I don't play as Clown much but I find him to be one of the few physically intimidating characters and I always like going up against him. Good Clown players who use the right bottle at the right time always impress me. Sad I'm just going to dread him now. Hopefully they'll repair this.

My theory is that they do test things, that the devs probably take notes and point out the issues, but that they're pushed to get new content out anyway. The tagline of "new feature added" in the patch notes is likely more important than whether they work or not.
Unless I'm totally wrong and someone can point that out to me.
