About the Response to Streetwise
Look, I don't normally like to get into interpersonal drama. I enjoy talking about the game and maybe starting arguments here and there over it.
However, these responses are unacceptable, quite frankly.
Game-ruining bugs should not be a contest! I cannot believe I even have to say that, if something is bugged and ruining games AND people are vocal about it, killswitch it. I am sure there are worse bugs. I cannot believe a company worth hundreds of millions of dollars is USING THEIR OWN FAILURE TO PUSH A WORKING PRODUCT TO LIVE AS AN EXCUSE!
We know that even if the game is unable to be completed normally, ala Merciless Storm, they still won't killswitch it. Merciless Storm had a huge outcry around it, it did get killswitched and "fixed" but ended up bugged AGAIN in the next patch, where it was never killswitched again. Hell, even the Trickster Epilepsy bug, which had REAL WORLD CONSEQUENCES, didn't get killswitched.
Saying that nobody should've been told about the killswitch is really just the cherry-on-top. Other than the fact that we would know about it, just by the basis of not being able to use the Killer, item, Survivor whatever that got disabled, it shows that BHVR views the complaining as the problem, not the actual bug.
Today has been a series of tone-deaf responses and I felt the need to share them with the community.

"No one should've been told about the Killswitch".
I really hope they don't mean paying customers shouldn't be told the reason why their product suddenly isn't working anymore/accessible. Benefit of the doubt from me personally but holy moly.
Probably something said out of frustration though, I get it. Been there.

Straight-up telling us we didn't deserve to know about the killswitch is disgusting. They don't respect their playerbase at all.
59 -
The worst part about the third screenshot is that they used the killswitch on Baermar's ugly sweater, which did not break the game, merely made him completely silent. Games could still be completed with it. By the way, the Baermar anniversary outfit is still locked to play Aestri's sounds instead.

"No one should've been told about the Killswitch".
So… we were supposed to never know why the content we like and paid for isn't working or isn't accessible?
We were supposed to never know about a feature specifically designed to deal with situations like current Streetwise?
54 -
The most generous way of taking that statement in my eyes is basically:
"Players shouldn't have known that the devs can remotely disable things at any point".
Which, is still a pretty bad statement to say to your players no?
27 -
Regarding the point about the game needing to be affected in a way that it cannot be completed normally, how did Nemesis being 130% speed do that? I agree it was an OP bug and I was for using the KS on it, but under the supposed guidelines, how was it making the game unable to be 'completed normally' in any way that Streetwise isn't?

"truthfully, no one should have been told about the killswitch" wow...I'm actually shocked that this is a real message. it's like they're trying to fully destroy their already tarnished reputation, and their relationship with the community all at once. the way they've handled this is so insane to me...all they had to do was killswitch streetwise.
26 -
I agree fully. "No one should have been told about the kill switch" is legitimately revolting to hear given it's literally the only communication we have from BHVR. This game has HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF MICROTRANSACTIONS. The implication that community backlash is so bad that a mod now feels they simply shouldn't have replied is just embarrassing.
This isn't how a company sells and manages a product, it's how a brand tries to minimize damage.
20 -
Right….Like…Doesn't make sense. Paid content shouldnt constantly=Broken Content and Bugs.
4 -
I would like to now state that I was incorrect. Baermar's anniversary outfit actually plays no sound at all.
1 -
"You mean like how you killswitched Nemesis?" -Count, Ace Combat 7
3 -
This company is not great at diplomatic wording.
32 -
This is disheartening, to say the least.
17 -
They kill switched stuff for less. Bhvr is so inconsistent.
20 -
All of their games ended up being a huge fail, the only thing keeping them afloat is DBD, and they can’t even manage that properly.
13 -
why is it my job to punish wrongdoers? if I could report these people i could, but the responses just say to me " if you want something done, do it yourself"
people only do bad things because they think they can get away with it. I might have to take a killer break because my autism compels me to go full Punisher but it's really a waste of time.
I think this is a proper moment for me to yell SERENITY NOW!!!!!
1 -
Not gonna lie, these responses are nearing “it’s really boring to keep talking about colorblind mode” levels of bad.
19 -
Sadly, I don’t think BHVR’s approach to engaging their community is ever going to change until their revenue starts to be negatively impacted. This remains my favorite game and is by far the game I play the most, but I cannot bring myself to financially support it by purchasing DLC content with how they treat their player base in a way that so often comes off as arrogant and dismissive. I have felt this way for a long time but any doubts I had before today that maybe I was being too critical of them were completely blown away.
20 -
She's about to get the famous 'Almo treatment' from the company 😆

people made fun of him over liking the Wooden Fox addon, but look at it now /s
1 -
Give FD Back its 4.1.0 ability to destroy items then! If survivors with infinite charge items isn't game breaking, then the ability to destroy said items should bring back at least "some" balance.
2 -
yeahhhhh that "no one should have been told about the Kill Switch" one is oof. I get that it's probably really frustrating to deal with the community right now (or in general really) but publicly complaining about it like that…ouch.
13 -
that's not news
2 -
why I skipped to dlc and I think going start skipping a lot more not even buying the rift.
1 -
The "no one should have been told about it" bit is kind of funny, like we wouldn't notice when something was no longer accessible in game lol
28 -
The weirdest thing is we had THE EXACT same exploit and it was kill switched a year ago, but this year something changed apparently and it isn't game breaking anymore?
4 -
The fact they said "we don't want to minimize player frustrations" (said on forums) and also "there are much worse bugs right now" comes off as contradictory to me and i agree it's unacceptable

I accept those responses, therefore, those responses are in fact acceptable. Myth debunked!
-16 -
Please I am begging you people to stop giving this company your money
11 -
We could ask about those other bugs that affect worse but then they would just send us into making a ticket and we look at Pending Review.

Streetwise does not meet the kill switch criteria.
This kill switch system has been so inconsistently used since it's inception, and they have never clarified what this criteria is.
Whatever counts as "criteria" is apparently highly subjective and surely must involve an element of RNG like "drawing exactly and only the ace of spades from this deck of cards".
There are much worse bugs right now that no one is asking me about that affect this a lot worse.
So what? Kill switch all of them then.
Is there some kind of limit to these things that prevents their use? Does using this feature require 10 pounds of moon rocks or something that we aren't able to easily replace and are highly valuable or something?
no one should have been told about the kill switch.
I'm not sure how they think they could ever use this without people knowing or at least understanding that this exists.
Call it whatever you want: "disabled feature", "temporarily unavailable", or "kill switch", at some point they'd "effectively remove something from available play" and people would ask them to do it again for something else that isn't working.
This is either semantics, or they think we're just idiots that literally have no object permanence. Nurse? Wow, a new killer and it's not even a new chapter! We've never seen this before today!

we gotta killswitch these responses dawg
8 -
How are we still doing this in 2025? Its been 9 years, BHVR isn't the little studio who could anymore we should not still be having these unprofessional responses and lack of action on these kind of bugs. I'm deeply disappointed.
17 -
I am really sad about this entire situation and I'm disappointed that I even have to sit here and write what I'm about to say.
BHVR, please. Take a step back. Ask yourself what benefit it gives to leave Streetwise in the game when it's only going to continue to frustrate your players. If this bug doesn't qualify as "gamebreaking" or otherwise doesn't fit the killswitch criteria, then that criteria should be revised. Again, the only thing you are doing by keeping this in the game is upsetting your playerbase. We understand that you can't fix bugs the same day they're found. That's okay. But it is not worth keeping bugged content in the game like this, and even if it means a few innocent players can't use a certain perk for a little bit, that's far less impactful than leaving an incredibly unfair bug in the game especially when it's localized to a single perk. If you explain why something was killswitched, I promise you 99% of us are going to understand and be happy that we no longer have to play against it until you can get it fixed.
In my opinion, this Streetwise bug falls in a similar category as the bug from a couple years ago when Geographical Readout (SM addon) stacked with itself repeatedly. Did Geographical Readout make the game unplayable? Technically no, but it sure did make the game feel extremely unfair and frustrating to play, hence why it was warranted being killswitched. The same thing should apply here, and the same thing should've applied to Merciless Storm when it was bugged too.
I don't really know what else I can say, I've gone from confused, to dumbfounded, to disappointed in the span of a few hours. Please reconsider your stance on this topic. Disabling the perk until the hotfix is the correct decision in this case, and in the future, please don't be so hesitant to use this feature for similar issues. You spent the time developing the killswitch in the first place. If the vast majority of the community is telling you that something should get killswitched, it's probably a good sign that it's causing frustration and that it should get killswitched. Please listen to your playerbase.

Does using this feature require 10 pounds of moon rocks or something that we aren't able to easily replace and are highly valuable or something?DbD once had a surplus of moon rocks, but then they put Nick Cage in the game and their stockpiles have yet to recover from his demanded payment.
This is the thing I'm wondering about. What has to be done to activate the kill switch? Like when people ask for patches to come quicker, there's actually an answer (that they need to go to consoles for testing a few days before being released). What makes a kill switch a nuclear option? It's broken, badly, turn it off.
We've never seen this before today!I like to imagine they just try and 1984 us.
Perk disappears
"What happened to Streetwise?"
"There is not, nor has there ever been a perk known as Streetwise."
Perk comes back.
"Hey, Streetwise is back."
"Streetwise is, and always has been, part of the game."

Streetwise is broken. Period!
Tested it out with @HeroLives in a custom match, and I can confirm that it definitely BREAKS toolboxes, to an extreme degree.
A regular brown toolbox has 16 charges, or roughly 18% worth of a gen's progress at 50% increased repair speed.
A brown toolbox with a socket swivel add-on increases the speed to 80%, but you still have 16 charges.
Now, a brown Streetwise toolbox will have 28.8 charges, and from what I can tell, these charges stacks multiplicatively, when you do the chest swapping bug. Not only that, but it also counts the add-ons you are getting on the toolbox too, and stack them multiplicatively.
So, let's say you swap the item 10 times in the chest:
This brown toolbox will now have 288 charges (3.2 gens worth), and a repair speed of around 270%
If that is not killswitch-worthy, then I don't know what is.4 -
This content has been removed.
-
It… shouldn't count the add-ons multiplicatively. Do you have video of you instantly completing a gen from these custom matches?
0 -
No, but I really wish I recorded it.
The gen was literally done in like 30 seconds.
Next time I get online with them, I will record it and make a post about it.0 -
If you had gotten the Engineer toolbox, 30 seconds is the normal speed.
0 -
I know I'm not playing until this bug and the SB bugs are fixed. And the vault bug. F it. F this game.
3 -
It was a regular brown toolbox with a socket swivel add-on (from using Ace in the Hole), not the engineer or mechanic's toolbox. And no, the +100% box does cut down the timer to 45 seconds if you have no add-ons, but endless stacks.
Normally, it only shaves off around 9 seconds worth of progress, if you don't run charge add-ons0 -
I'd test it but I don't have anyone to do so with :(

You have me….

Hop on for 1 custom?

Yesterday had kinda chill game. Until three gen was done at the same time in minute. Being on 0 progress before
It was the only game there I decided I won’t tunnel people at all and spread max hooks.
4 people escaped with 3 people being on death hook. Only Dwight had decent chase and gifted me some pleasant emotions from that game. Others…
Guess what perk they had?
At least they had fun teabaggin me I assume. I just laughed from absurdity tbh. Just because I’m usually not kind player on killer, and as soon I decide being chill I usually get such teams :D
1 -
Commodius with socket swivels did not speed up the gen to infinity when I stacked it.
Can confirm that it isnt stacking addons.
0 -
Would like to report that no, the addons do not stack multiplicatively, and yes, I did subject a pub lobby to this.

Boom!

Game is chopped and devs are morons are we really surprised anymore? They have proven this almost every year. Then we forget about it in a couple months when they come out with a statement and some compensation blood points, and then they do it again.
The only way to fix this is to add more licenses. More more more. More licenses. Greed greed greed. More survivor buffs and killer nerfs because player base is 4:1.
My favorite killer, Freddy, has been bugged to the point of being unplayable since the FNaF PTB, and this bug comes from the fact that they "fixed" a bug with him that update that didn't even exist, and ended up making him more bugged. Also, this is the only game ever where people will defend exploits like these. Not even the lizards in R6 or CS will do that.
I think I will go back to playing Outlast Trials. They take time on their updates but they do not come out like this. I look at TWD update and I'm absolutely astonished at how this got pushed to live, just look at everything wrong! That metal beam still being there in the offering screen means that literally NO ONE booted up a match to test ANYTHING!-4
