Anyone excited for 2v8 coming this month in August?

There won't be any new killers. Peanits said this in a livestream shortly before the DWD release. They're focusing more on 2v8 QoL things.
But I'm looking forward to the mode. It's my favorite mode.I'm curious to see if the "play as you wait" feature actually works, because 2v8 is the only time I can play killers; I get too anxious in 1v4.
I'm also happy that Legion is getting nerfed and excited about the class changes.

Nah, not really. They've nuked my main Legion for 2 V 8, so… Yeah. Will probably play a few Legion games here and there but suspect the queues will be just as bad as last time and it will break the match making in 1 V 4 as usual.
Except while I wait, now I can play Survivor against all the other over powered Killers that are (in my opinion) a lot less fun than versing a Legion. Should be something positive but then hearing my main is being gutted at the same time leaves a really bad taste, tbh.
Always much preferred Chaos Shuffle anyway.

I just kinda lost interest in these 2v8 betas. wake me up when we have a 1.0 version where we have the whole roster. I don't wanna hear about balance when Oni was given massive buffs for zero reason. just take the 1v4 versions of killers and see what happens.

Not really. BHVR is obviously spread too thin when it comes to fixing longstanding bugs on already existing content in the base game, and now that the novelty of 2v8 has worn off for me, I'm currently quite cynical that they're just going to introduce more tech debt into the game that they won't get around to fixing for literal years.

No new killers? nah man I'm just skipping this one and I doubt that play while you wait will work and sure legion got "Nerfed" but it's not really a nerf more like a buff cause now he'll be getting downs constantly

my main concern is the elephant that's been avoided this entire time; what happens when a match is "found"? do you DC and get a bot? does the game currently recognize this and won't mark it as a DC?

Absolutely, can't wait and I wanna it become permanent right after that but limited to 10 matches per day, I'm tired of normal which was created to handhold killers

Unfortunately there won't be any new killers this time.
I'm still patiently waiting for 2v8 Skull Merchant and Knight so we can get the combo of someone getting a claw trap while being hunted by a guard.

Not really. No new killers, no new classes, just a few QOL updates and Legion + Oni or Blight + Nurse in the same queue = unbereable.

From what I heard it just reserves your spot and waits for you to finish your match then when everyone has stopped playing the match begins

I'm curious as to how the play while you queue function is going to work, especially if you are doing swf with more than 2 people, is it going to cause issues?
It's hard not to be skeptical what with recent issues

The play while you wait feature is only for queuing up as killer since the survivor side has almost no wait time. They have already said you will get to finish your survivor match and your killer spot will be held, and if you are trying to play killer with a friend that you both will have your killer spots held while playing out your survivor match.
This is what they have said (I think on a recent live stream). I agree we should all be skeptical that it will actually work as intended.

Yeah, I mean in the sense that if we will be able to queue as 2 killers while playing as more than 2 players as a survivor SWF

Oh, got it. I'm going to guess that you can't do a 3 or 4 man SWF while waiting in a killer queue but I'm not positive.

honestly the side effect im expecting is survivors having to sit in a lobby for however long with a screen that says "KILLER FINISHING MATCH, PLEASE WAIT" which i think is just going to inverse the issue? idk. on paper i really am meh on the whole feature. if i wanted to play survivor in 2v8 id just queue for that, and with how their other new innovative systems have been going i feel as though theres gonna be a catch we all hate when it comes to live
side note im bummed for no killers. i was really hoping with the lerys leak theyd be adding doctor and leaning more into making some killers more support oriented than just ooga booga quick two tap recon play. with legion and shadow class being nerfed (i dont think itll kill leggy in 2v8 but its a bummer) im just in a meh mood over 2v8 as killer rn, seems like this time we get nothing this variation (which might be deserved because survivors were saying that about last time)

Maybe just for the survivor bp incentives. But ill have to avoid killer till its done due to que times (including 1v4)

Popping in to correct: Play While You Wait puts you in priority queue for a match, it doesn't autofill you into a lobby. It's the killer equivalent of Fastpass but for like a ride that sucks, like Soarin'. The actual side effect would be if you didn't like playing survivor, but this won't effect you.

They'll remedy this with 2v8+, which you can buy for 2k Auric Cells.

Survivor just doesn't seem all that interesting and I'm not crazy about all the sounds going on when you're revealed and Skillchecks like to happen when other sounds do. And then you got the screams of a Survivor being downed and caged. It's just sensory overload.

I don't know, I like to play on the Nurse, and my friend on the Deathslinger
The only problem is that both killers are bugged…
The bug with the Nurse has not been fixed YET (TP back / rubber-banding)
A new bug with the Deathslinger, where even direct ability hits do not guarantee that the surv will be registered
Plus, they are adding a new closed map where the Nurse can just stand AFK, and a Garden of Joy, where textures are not shot through for the Deathslinger0 -
As killer, I might play, especially if friends want to duo. As survivor, probably not. The last one was just a killing field. The teamwork and coordination was trash. Had someone healing me when the hatch opened up beside us. She jumped right in mid-heal and left me to die. The only times I escaped were when I landed myself in a 5-8 person party.

I'm wondering if that would open thr possibility of finding a killer match as you load in...if those survivors normally have instant queues are they now having to wait 10 minutes for their killer?

I prefer the core 1v4 mode, and I am not looking forward to the queue times in either mode, but I'm happy for the people that enjoy 2v8.

Herbs were really good addition should kept them in some form at least. Oni was really fun for me...

Ill play for the quests but after that I'm just hoping queue times in normal mode aren't affected too bad. Keen to see if their 'play as you wait' helps out.

For sure. Hopefully it lets us stay paired between the killer and survivor matches. Which is what I think most killer duos with their buddies would be thinking.

All I can say is if Legion is in this mode I am out.
Oh and same with Oni if he is not nerfed from where he was at in the previous 2v8. Not subjecting myself that unfair BS again
Edit: I see from other comments Legion will be in this mode still so I guess I will definitely be sitting this one out. Have not played since mid way through the birthday event and I think I should stay on a break for the next few months, as the game is broken anyway from what I have seen.

The only excitement that comes from this mode is that Ghoul is unplayable.

Legion is in it but his power is being tweaked to make them less able to hit every survivor with Feral Frenzy but easier to down survivors apparently

I love 2v8, I've played all the releases of 2v8 to death, and I can't wait for another one. I'm glad they're introducing some changes to the classes to freshen things up, but WOW, with new items what a missed opportunity to add a chest searching/item using class.
The legion nerfs are absolutely huge and will extend the shelf life of this iteration of 2v8 even more. Hopefully lead to more killer variety than we had last time. And of course, play while you wait is fantastic and should help greatly with the continued #1 sticking point of 2v8, the long queue times. I don't mind playing as survivor to lower the queue times at all, especially with the bonus bloodpoints. But man, I am really here because I love being able to engage in the killer role in any capacity with my buddies. I think that change alone will make a significant difference in queue times.
Main takeaways I'd like to see if BHVR reads this? More survivor classes, more killer balancing for killers whose power scale with the number of survivors (such as legion and oni), and more events that let you interact with others as the killer in a cooperative way.0
