Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

About matchmaking

So first of, if I remember correctly, the matchmaking is specific for each killer right?

I'm trying to do my achievements and currently doing Nemesis, I have not played him at all, like maybe 3 matches in total as of typing this, yet I get matched against Survivors Prestige 1000 with 3000 hours ABSOLUTELY destroying me (mainly with flashlights) to the point where I actually just want to DC.

So, I'm not sure if I was just incredibly unlucky or if the matchmaking system if basically non existent.

I understand that playing Survivor is basically 1 character and there are not many new players, so you will never have an even playground as "new" killer but at least a little bit of balance could be considered when picking the players for a lobby.

Unfortunately it was just horrible luck (likely the result of backfilling).

It's easier to see it when watching other experienced people do "Hardcore Survivor/Killer challenges" but as a rule of thumb, the first few matches will be very easy then after a few escapes/4ks the game will quickly adjust.

Keep in mind that although each killer character has a different MMR, the game isn't going to assume your a brand new player every time you swap to a killer character you haven't played yet. You dont start at the bottom each time.

The matchmaking is effectively non-functional. I’ll get 8,000 hour comp players one match and then someone with 20 hours the next, win or lose it doesn’t matter. BHVR can tell us that it’s supposed to work all they want, but I can tell you and show you from what I see every time I play that it doesn’t.

“Hardcore challenge” I’m blowing absolutely raspberries you see some the most absolute smurfiest smurfing in all of smurfdom going on when I watch some of these from some -not all- content creators. I’m not saying I’m better at the game, I’m just saying I know smurfing when I see it.

When I'm playing a new Killer for the first time, I know I'm going to be in for a bruising. I don't even think about winning, I only think about learning.

Once you have a single Killer that reaches a certain MMR threshold, all your other Killers will be brought up to an MMR where the system expects you to play every other Killer reasonably well. I think this is silly, because learning how to be a Legion or a Ghost Face means absolutely nothing in preparing to play as a Huntress. Between a lot of Killers, there are often very few transferable skills besides the very basics of the role. I've found the only way to fix that is to eat a few losses.

I've been trying to adept my Trapper for a while now and I can feel the MMR yoyo from difficult opponents to easier ones. I lose until I start winning again and so the cycle repeats. I've gotten pretty close 2 times, but hatch escapes denied me. There are also all the times that MMR doesn't function because of player number differences and backfilling (which let's be honest here, is really most of the time).

The matchmaking is all over the place. I recently tried The Knight out for the first time in a trial. A trial. I didn't even have him unlocked. I was just trying to figure out his abilities and it gave me three p100s that smashed me.

In an opposite scenario, I played Trapper for maybe the fifth time to get a Quest done. I expected to do pretty much nothing during the match but screw around and it gave me people who not only seemed new to the game but new to any game. I dead stooped in the middle of chases and gave them multiple opportunities to rebound and they just kept stepping in my poorly laid traps.

I realized I'd forgotten to put on the perk I needed for the Quest and did another match, praying for pros because I just felt icky. But nope, terrible people again. I pulled back and farmed at 2k cause I felt bad.

this always happens, literally didn't touch huntress for almost a year?

    and i got 4 100P swf

i think when u don't play the killer for a while the mmr resets to the highest and starts going down or something like that
