Second apology within a week…
the DbD team just put out another apology on twitter about the issues and backlash that happened during yesterday’s Chandler Riggs DbD livestream. i’m going to be so honest here, this apology doesn’t mean anything. yesterday was the biggest slap in the face not only to the dbd community, but also to its biggest CC Otz. Otz gave a clear cut and working solution to the problems yesterday during the DDoS attacks during the livestream and the devs basically spat in his face and told him his idea was worthless (they didn’t actually do that but that’s what it felt like).
this on its own is bad but opens up a butterfly effect that i don’t think the devs are ready for. with them completely ignoring a harmful idea and solution from their BIGGEST CC basically tells the rest of the community that they don’t gaf about our ideas or opinions. if they don’t trust and take ideas from their biggest, very experienced, kind, loyal and trusted CC, what makes you think they would listen to anything anyone else has to say about the game? It’s honestly sad and disappointing how many L’s BHVR has gotten these past couple weeks because this summer genuinely sounded like it was gonna be peak dbd but it seems we are far, far from peak dbd.
in all of the apologies and responses bhvr gives, they always say “we’re taking a hard look at how we can do better moving forward.” but it seems that every time they never learn or get better moving forward. this needs to be the biggest wake up call over there at bhvr because there’s only so many empty apologies they can put out before the community takes off the rose tinted glasses and points out the real problems on how yall don’t learn from your mistakes.
little bit of a ranty discussion but i had to get this off my chest. it makes me actually pissed because i spent a lot of time and money on this game only for the devs to keep making a worse and worse reputation of their game and how they deal with problems and issues surrounding the game.

This apology is PR to fan the flames and get people to calm down. It's the typical "I'm sorry, give me another chance" bs that happens in relationships. How long until the next apology?
The takeaway from that stream, is stop doing those surveys they send out because it's very clearly a waste of our time.
I would suggest not giving them money either until real change is shown
29 -
we say this every time and when they add a character we like or do a change that was requested we will all forget about it like you always do
It’s disingenuous saying they don’t give af when most of the changes and ideas that have happened coincidentally all came from CC mouths like Otz, hens and Scott Jund
Most of there suggestions were actually taken and made into dbd
-14 -
there biggest worries is licensing. If other license holders see how walking dead was treated they might not want to do deals
16 -
Maybe we should stop forgetting.
DBD, after 9 years of BHVR development, is less polished than BF Labs. BHVR isnt some small indie company, this level of incompetence is unacceptable.
29 -
Just listen to the damn people who actually play the game. Otz had the solution but you refused to listen to these people for some reason. Why even have a fog whisperer program if you don't listen to them?
20 -
See the problem is we don't actually know WHY things are like this at the moment, most people are chalking it up to incompetence but things aren't usually THIS bad.
I have so many burning questions like:
Why did TWD release in the state it did?
Why was the 'map' not on the roadmap and what was with the huge communication issues surrounding 'it's not a map it's a special tile' 'actually it is a map'.
What's going on with the Community Managers and their communication lately?
Not to sound like I'm jumping to conclusions but something's not right. The FNAF chapter, while a bit buggy on launch was pretty smooth in terms of community stuff so what's changed?
8 -
I’m pretty sure no one needs apology.
I can ‘t play the game cause 3rd day my ping is above 200.
BHVR. Deal with your performance and safety of the game, pls :(

Community/veteran feedback ignored twice(watching that Walking Dead guy get cut off when he's just trying to help/have a good time was wild) leading to two apologies and damage control.
I wonder what the common trait is?!
19 -
remember when they told us ddosing wasn’t a real thing?
think its time they apologize for lying here.9 -
We who? Speak for yourself.
I'm fed up with how lazy this chapter was. The quality was abysmal and I have spent no money on this game since its release because this is not a product worth supporting despite my desire to try out the new perks.
I'm fed up with the dev team's egos. All they had to do was kill switch Streetwise in a timely manner or tell us it was going to be fixed soon. Instead they condescendingly antagonized the community because "there are worse things that nobody is talking about."
I'm tired of asking for gentle nerfs to Ghoul so that he isn't as painful to go against when I play survivor.
I'm tired of asking for basic perk balancing. They knew that multiple instances of Prove Thyself, Boons, etc. stacking was an issue, so why is it okay for Vigil? (Answer: it's not.)
I'm tired of asking them to give older perks some balancing attention.
I'm tired of my PTB feedback being ignored. Brainless Clown was seen by everyone from a mile away but they still forced it through.
I'm tired of the game getting buggier with every patch with no changes to quality control in sight. You need to read essays worth of guides to find out what broke with the newest update and what longstanding bugs BHVR either ignores or doesn't know how to fix on nearly every killer.
I'm genuinely baffled that the higher ups think that this lack of quality is sustainable, and that the team should just ship broken content and try to fix it later.
If content isn't ready to ship, then delay it. If this is too much to ask for, then you've lost this loyal customer.
The DBD team is obviously spread too thin, and I'm at my limit of what I consider acceptable in terms of how I decide to spend my money.
The Walking Dead collab stream was just icing on the cake, showing everyone the depths of BHVR's lack of care in fixing security issues and listening in a timely manner. I'm sorry that Otzdarva had to deal with such a frustrating and embarrassing experience.
18 -
Giving the illusion that they care?
And I think, we need to show how angry and disapointed we are against them, maybe by some implication into the game, or stopping buying anything
IF they don't want to listen, and considering us as useless except when we pay for something…7 -
And Since the content creator ARE the windows who attract new people in the game, I think THEY have also a role to do by doing something all together against BHVR
2 -
What I've found particularly concerning is how little the community's voice seems to matter. Otz and Chandler were telling them how to literally fix the issue, and they were dismissed.
What does this tell everyone who plays the PTB, reports bugs, leave feedback? What does this tell people who main characters that are set to be changed: Skull Merchant, Myers, Trickster? What does this tell the community itself?
And all of this right after that mess with Streetwise.
19 -
Labor of Love 2025!
Don't even bother….
15 -
This is easily the worst the game has been in 2+ years. Not neccesarily balance or bugs by themself, tho that is not going great, but the decisions the devs recently have been making. I can't remember the last time BHVR made an apology to their community, and now we got two in a week. I have neither bought TWD nor any cells recently and will continue to avoid spending money on this game until things get better.
7 -
Of course they don't gaf about this communities ideas. Pride gets in the way of lots of things. They think they know all the answers, fine. Let them fix it. They don't gaf about the game itself so why would they care about anything related to it? It's just a paycheck. Need far more people at that damn company that actually care about DBD's success and don't just show up to pay their bills. I'd wager the ones with the drive and passion to make DBD a better game are completely outweighed by the "it's just a job" group. It isn't a stretch at all. That's how most companies seem to function so why would this one be any different.
9 -
BHVR has consistently had this problem over the years where they always know best (in my opinion). Something like this is actually good because it takes massive fumbles like this to encourage or even force change. Otz is whatever, I'm a lot more embarrassed for them that they got an actor from the show to be a part of it and this happened.
2 -
It's just sad. I love this game but wth are they doing? The fact that the solution was right there and they didn't give a f… is insane. Even the Entity is starving because everyone is losing hope.
8 -
I want to quote one point here. You say the chapter is lazy? What kind of people would be okay with releasing this "lazy chapter"? You are not telling me the people at BHVR could possible be "lazy" are you? I always figured they were the hardest working people on earth like a good little DBD fan……. -_-

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/453703/second-apology-within-a-week
Does anyone have the post they put on social media? I am curious and would like to read it.
This is all stuff the community has been quite vocal about. Myself included since I showed up 2 years ago. I have written a lot of it off because I was new but I caught on. They have got to address their core issues. Performance issues, Bugs fixes, and most importantly how LONG it takes for them to get stuff down. Months to fix killer bugs? Not cool. Months to fix survivor issues or bugs? Not cool. We need to be way more proactive
3 -
Enough people are logging in each day across all consoles. Why should they change/fix anything when the flow of people isn't changing in any alarming fashion? They'll count on the fact that you as well as everyone complaining will get over this mess by this time next week.
1 -
Where is the livestream? I went on their YouTube channel and couldn't find it
0 -
They delete it
But go on Otz twitch, the rediff is there, by his point of view9 -
@thrive2survive Because we are not getting over it in a week. We are being vocal about it over and over and over again. The community is frustrated and tired of how the game is being presented to us. How long adjustments like bug fixes take. Onyro still has a demanifest bug since Alan Wake. Houndmaster has been bugged since Ghoul. 4 months now. Its ridiculous. We deserve better then this. I am not trying to be harash by any mean but stability….we must find.
3 -
Here you go.
They've taken down the VOD for the official channels, but here is Otz's VOD, G_birb's VOD, Mish's VOD, and Ghost's VOD.
edit: I also believe there should be a few users on the forums who have the VOD saved, as at least one has said so publically, but I would be wary of downloading anything you get from a random forum member, so stick to the streamer VODs.
6 -
I wouldn't be surprised if Otz stopped supporting DBD after what happened. But knowing Otz, he's too good of a guy and to inveated in the game to dot that.
I would hope they send an apology directly to Otz.

@GeneralV You're 100% right my friend. This makes me not want to report bugs anymore. I did it every week multiple times a week, I submitted video after video, reported hackers time and time again despite how tedious the process is because we dont have a proper ingame report system to help deal with this.
I am very frustrated and honestly disheartened. I try really hard to help the community where I can, I put a lot of effort here on the forums like many of you to vocalize for dbd and ultimately support it…but I am questioning that now. Am I even heard?
9 -
It sucks but it's also a good thing to hit that wall with the game. It's easy to hold out hope but it's hard to see the truth.
0 -
I made the longest thread in the Forums history to try to get BHVR to commit to their promise of console optimization.
Didn't amount to anything.
16 -
It really makes you question what does it even take for your voice and feedback to be heard.
6 -
Why bother being heard? When you're heard, like I was with the Last Stand/Finesse hitbox glitch, it results in worse glitches, like the infinite Finesse glitch. But its okay because infinite iframes on vaults isn't gamebreaking because you can down them in one hit 😁
6 -
Being vocal about issues takes years with BHVR, not days, weeks or months unfortunately... xD
0 -
It's about how they act which matters now. I may be wrong, but that tweet was the first time they have gone out and said the failings were entirely their fault, rather than before when they either turned a blind eye (the DDoS attacks a few years back, which they said they found no evidence) or ignored entirely. For that - and probably against the flow - I am appreciative they have taken full responsibility.
However, what they need to do now is actively change this culture of not listening. When things are going well, they have made a pattern of becoming too complacent. An example was after the period from Ghost Face to Silent Hill, when there was a drop in quality afterwards, especially with the Twins and such. Likewise, the first RE release was full of problems.
They need to take a stronger, proactive stance against cheaters and attacks. They need to put more focus on PTB's and how people respond, and they also need to get back to quality. I would be far happier if they were transparent and put chapters back a month or so if it needed further time to fix.
Basically, I feel they had done well recently and the game was having a good run. I don't get why they lost the passion and care in their work recently. Is it because they have become slothful and lazy with success? Have they had too much pressure from the heads of the company to push out chapters regardless? Has an arrogance developed? Are they under some other pressure? Whichever, it's what they do now.
0 -
Not sure why but I get the feeling some people up at BHVR are extremely petty toward anything and everything they dislike possibly including the game itself.. O.o
3 -
I did not know much about the stream until TikTok start it mentioning about what happened. Honestly, this is probably the worst stream that BHVR has done in years. I managed to watch the stream and it was pretty… terrible. I applaud Otz quick thinking and tried to remedy the situation without causing much disruption to the stream (Good on him). I was completely shocked that BHVR veto his decision and kicked everyone out for the stream to completely fail, when a vaild and soundproof solution was presented by one of their content creators.
Personally, i wouldn't even bother taking the surveys as they truly do not care about the quality of the product they are delivering to their consumers. DBD is in a terrible state where BHVR needs to step back and evaluate on the product they currently have on the market. They should seriously hold back on killer and survivors releases and focus on the quality of life improvements of the game.
If not, at this rate, i'll trust OW and League with better improvements than DBD.
-1 -
I'm tired, I don't give a damn about their apologies anymore, they're just empty words because there's no follow-up, no desire to improve, no consequences.
Taking responsibility is a noble gesture, but after 9 years it's no longer enough; people aren't stupid, this game has been in a pitiful state for too long now, the amount of bugs, errors, cheating, etc... that is slowly destroying this game from within is inconceivable. Myself and other users have had a problem since the release of this chapter two weeks ago, which causes the game to crash every time a trial ends, forcing us to restart the game every time, and nothing has been done about it yet, despite us trying to contact them in every way possible.
I think the time has finally come to take action, instead of yapping nonsense every time, which no one cares about.6 -
Being totally frank, the issue is that we often get breadcrumbed. Countless times over the years, they have listened but it never seems to stick. We'll get one really decent patch and it's sort of like all is forgiven, even if it was preceded by a string of bad patches and followed by just as many.
In my opinion, the game has been declining for quite a while now and I think everyone can feel it. It doesn't mean the game is dying as it can stay alive indefinitely as long as it has a steady flow of licensed content, but it does mean that the game is a one-trick pony and the novelty wore off a while ago. We're seeing a bit more behind the curtain now and these small gestures are often too little, too late. They're the kinds of things they should have been doing years ago, but hubris got in the way of that (again, in my opinion). Now the problems are much bigger and harder to ignore and there's very little solid foundation in place to withstand them after years of neglect.
4 -
It seems that, recently, they don't read anything against them
I see a post later of a person who praise them, or asking them a question about the phase 2, and they responded there, because it was not as negative than here5 -
Probably spending less money on the game. No reason for a company to do something if it doesn't affect profits.

You're correct that content creators are able to influence certain decisions, but those are mostly around game balancing. So it's not like every department in BHVR pays attention to them, I guess because it's not considered their expertise? Like, unless Otz, Hens, etc, have some sort of background or qualification in cyber security, then theyre unlikely to be listened to by BHVRs security team. And i think that's why everything went down the way it did. The security team need to realize that content creators have learned how to mitigate things like this purely because they had no other choice. They absolutely didnt listen to content creators on this issue when they should have.
0 -
Doubt thats it.
0 -
Which part? That the security team likely ignored Otz's suggestion because they felt they knew more about the issue than he did?
0 -
I heard that Scott Cawthon was very attentive to how BHVR handled his franchise, taking part in quality control and overseeing the execution. Basically, anything goes wrong (bugs, issues, BHVR being BHVR) or something is not discussed and confirmed with him—and he withdraws the license, the collab is over before it could be released. I don't know if that's true, but it would explain a lot because since BHVR doesn't give a damn about players and their comfort, I don't believe they worked on the FNAF chapter properly out of love or care or because they even cared about the franchise itself (they knew they could do a half-medium job and FNAF fans would still flock in, wallets open). However, when they're threatened with being kicked out of collab entirely? Nothing to lure fans with, lots of explaining to do? No money to fill their pockets?
I bet that made them extremely attentive to what they were doing and how they were doing it.
5 -
Maybe. It was funny timing when the Streetwise perk was disabled in relation to when it was fixed
-1 -
Breadcrumbed is a nice way of putting it. Whilst I don't share the opinion the game has been in long-term decline, it's got a pattern of failing when it reaches a new peak.
There's one thing which bothers me though: it's been said they "don't care", which I can't get behind because it's their biggest source of income. Ending DBD may end the company. Yet if that is so, why would they take such risks and be dismissive of advice? I get why they may not listen to balance suggestions because some have been terrible by the community. But something like dealing with DDoS and actively ignoring advice on dealing with it with such a simple suggestion as "fill the spectator lobby" isn't clever in the slightest.
0 -
Seems kinda funny we have whole Quality of Life Initiative, but to me current state of DBD is one of the worst in a long time…
2 -
I thought the QOL of life be presented to us was also all about really staying on top of these bugs. Getting fixes for them fast. Patching up efficiently. Instead we are hammered with bugs causing our ability to enjoy dbd to the fullest, and no I am not talking about Jim.
Im talking about hit validations, plagues puke that hits invisible walls or when puke goes through a survivor, I am talking about frustrating stuff like pinheads bugs, Houndmaster, Onyro, perks acting wonky, powers, map glitches.
Fix the stuff that impacts players experience directly1 -
This "game" contains code in places, they themselves have said more than once that the game was/is being made using Blueprint (Unreal Engine Blueprints) to "optimize" development time
There is no code written there, but connections are created between blocks, which is why the game "code" is called spaghetti in the community (Unreal Engine Blueprints Spaghetti)
Initially, the developers didn't plan for this game to live for long, so they didn't bother about building the architecture, but everything changed after the Halloween chapter came out
Which ultimately turned into a snowball (technical debt), which they need to clear out more and more with each patch/update
Let's now go to their website and see what kind of developers they are looking forI don't believe that people actually do all this, but I do believe and see that the developers have constant deadlines, because the release of chapters is put on a conveyor belt by effective managers who prioritize milking
9 -
This. The only way to get change is to stop giving them your money. Don't buy any outfits and let the dlcs flop. They're never going to give a ######### so long as people keep lining their pockets.
