2026 killer reworks
According the the dev Q&A on Reddit we have confirmation that 4 killers will be getting reworks in 2026
Trapper, Myers, Trickster and Skull merchant
If someone can confirm from BHVR. I already know SM and trickster isn’t just number changes there actually full scale reworks
Is Myers and trapper getting completely rehauled?? Or just a rework like singularity and doc where it’s the same but better?
It’s funny they said trapper cause they said they would never touch trapper cause he was the “Mario” of the game. The starting character to get the feel of the game.
Im not complaining Trapper getting buffed/reworked is great as long as he’s stronger and not braindead
What do we think of these

Why do they need a fullscale trickster rework? Wouldn't just making it 4.4 and returning main event back to what it use to be the best solution?
Skull mommy and trapper I get.

my bet is that trapper gets his 2v8 buffs.

The Skull Merchant's rework is the one I'm paying attention to, especially because most of what we've heard so far hasn't been good.
The two design previews were, in my opinion, really bad. Not only they presented a killer that would be boring to play as and against, but also completely erased her identity and replaced with dash and mid-range M2, things we already have more than enough of.
The reassurance came from the fact that the design previews were, well, previews. They were not final, they could be subjected to changes and, most importantly, could be used to collect feedback. From what I've seen, Skull Merchant players were clear when expressing their dislike of the identity erasure, even in discussions that happened after said previews. However, when the future of Skull Merchant was mentioned in the Reddit AMA, the response wasn't exactly promising.
They mentioned three things: "Retain trap playstyle", "Remove passive lethality" and "The Buddy Drone".
"Retain trap playstyle". This one is good and there are no negatives about it. Preserving the trap playstyle is extremely important and I was happy when I read it. The other two, however, are far more concerning.
"Remove passive lethality". This one is mixed. When I first read it, I thought it was a contradiction. Because trap killers have passive lethality, that is the point of a trap killer. The active part of their playstyle is setting up and creating your web, and this web of traps they create passively acquires results. This is true for Trapper and Hag. Trapper doesn't manually control his traps to go around the map chomping survivors, and Hag doesn't move her phantasms until a teleport is available. These killers have passive gains, that is how it should work.
However, here there is a possibility that they meant something similar to her original design. If you recall, Skull Merchant's drones originally exposed you and applied the claw trap, but they didn't injure you. If that is what they mean, then it is okay.
"The Buddy Drone": this one is, by far, the worst of the three, and easily the most concerning. As of the moment this post is being written, the only information we have regarding this feature is the second design preview, where the Buddy Drone was exactly what she shouldn't have: ranged M2. I believe I speak for most SM mains here when I say that, if we wanted to play a M2 killer, we wouldn't have chosen Skull Merchant. There are plenty of other killers with projectiles and ranged M2 attacks. Skull Merchant shouldn't become another one of those.
I strongly believe this drone companion should either do something else entirely or, ideally, never get added.
I don't think she should become anything other than who she is. And the preservation of identity, especially in a killer that was treated unfairly after the first rework, is of extreme importance. But we have yet to get a third design preview, and for now we just keep wondering what, exactly, they will do to her.

I do hope they keep the myers ability and add another one which is him putting like a mirage of him that stalks and haunts in tier 1 form.
I also dont mind them fully reworking tombstone iri addons.
I mainly play vanity mirror or scratched for the sneaky jumpscare downs.
Like his stalk ability is what makes him FUN and obsession mechanic which he birthed to the game.
His stalk makes you feel like you are actually hunting the survivors unlike other killers (apart from ghostface)

Since editing is still broken on forums:
Myers deserves another unique ability to him that helps him stalk all across the map

They will ruin stalky boy.

There's a good chance many of these will get delayed and not release in 2026.

as someone who never plays 2v8 what is those buffs?

Basically just haste when setting traps lol. very much a cheap bandaid fix and not what we should get at all, but it did give Trapper some mean zoning potential.
traps can act basically as "touch n go" pads for a quick burst of speed

Trapper rework - after setting a trap gain 100000000000% more haste

Tbf it was SM and Trickster that they said were 2026. They gave no ETA on Michael's other than saying they'll have info on it soon. They gave no ETA on Trapper's at all.

I hope the trapper one would not be the classic way he recieved buff till now and thats just make some addon basekit, same with mayers hope he will get some chase boost in tier 3 because tier 2 is perfect and after his last buff tier one is ok (its faster to get out of it to tier two). Skullmerchant needs whole rework and trickster I hope they wont butcher him so he will be op on lower wall loops and in the open and trash on higher wall loops.
