Why are Blood Amber, Crimson Stamp and Potent Extract Visceral add ons?
all 3 of these visceral add ons give a good effect on paper but the downsides heavily out way the “buff” you get from them.
lets start off with the Blood Amber, this addon gives you and the killer wall hacks on each other when you use the key. this is already a balanced effect since neither you or the killer feel cheesed in chase. but then you look further and notice the addon gives 2 massive downsides of reducing the number of base charges on your key by 2 and reduces the duration by 6 SECONDS. that means if you don’t bring the blue addon to increase the duration by 2 seconds, you only get 4 maximum seconds of aura reveal from your key per charge, (and that’s only with the skeleton key. lower rarity keys are much worse with this add on). why would anyone want to bring this addon let alone a key since they’re still kinda useless outside of niche solo q situations??
in my opinion they either need to reduce both downsides if they want to keep the mutual wallhacks or keep one of the current downsides (probably charge nerf) and bring back old blood amber where only the survivor sees the killer’s aura. without one of these 2 suggested changes, this addon is useless and a waste of 5k bloodpoints.
Now onto the Crimson Stamp. This addon brings a cool effect of a mini wiretap that can be used during chase if the killer is within 8 meters of the beam of light. but then again, the downsides heavily out way the actual effect. the reduced number of charges is fine but the reduced aura reveal duration is what really kills it. base kit, the beam of light duration is 16 seconds with a 32 meter range. this add on makes it so the beam of light duration gets cut down to only 6 seconds. i’ll admit that if you had 16 seconds of wall hacks at a loop that would be pretty OP but 6 is just not good enough for a visceral addon.
in my opinion to buff this, i would remove the number of charges lost and reduce the beam of light duration to only 5 or 6 seconds (currently 10) or if the devs want to keep both downsides, then increase the range of killer reveal to 12 meters.
audible sigh, now let’s talk about the Potent Extract addon… This add on has gotten 5 nerfs since its PTB version and i don’t even know how it’s still Visceral. Fog Vials themselves have been nuked and this addon just makes them even more useless. you only get a minuscule of 5% increased opacity with a whole 50% less duration and 25% decreased size. if someone played the game for the first time and seen that the highest rarity addon for an item gave those numbers, they would probably laugh and never equip that add on.
in my opinion, if they want to keep the current version of Fog Vials (2 uses maximum), they need to completely remove both downsides of this add on and revert the opacity back to 10%. if they were to increase the number of base charges, then i would suggest keeping ONE of the two downsides and then increasing the opacity to 8 or 10%. in its current state, nobody should be running the Potent Extract add on let alone the Fog Vials in general.
these are my opinions on the current state of these add ons and what i would do to buff them. if you have other suggestions on how to change these, i’d love to hear what you have to offer!

I agree, the new Visceral/Iridescent add-ons are all painfully outweighed by downsides.
Blood Amber is the easiest to fix, just remove one of the downsides.
Potent Extract has currently no reason to have downsides. I would buff it to 10% and remove the duration nerf.
And lastly, Crimson Stamp is bad, AND backwards in terms of not sticking to the niche of maps. I would just rework it to show all generators and also show their progress via aura intensity, like Fuming Mixtape does for example.

I think Crimson Stamp is balanced. Especially considering the bloodsense map has 8 charges and there's a green add-on to add back 2 more charges. It's a bit tricky to use but you can totally counter killer mindgames at some loops and it would be very difficult for them to know that it's happening.
I agree about Blood Amber and Potent Extract though, downsides are just far too much.1 -
now that you put it like that, Crimson is pretty balanced. i think they could buff it slightly by increasing the duration of beam of light to 8 seconds and it would be perfect so it would be a 50% duration nerf and not 62.5%.

Because Iri addons at least originally was meant to be a play style altering addon type like how with Oni's bloody glove you can lose out on blood orbs but you get aura reading on the survivor so I guess the idea was to let survivors bleed for a while then pop your power to use the aura reading to the fullest. Now most iris are just straight up buffs to the power.
Wish they kinda kept up with that thought process but eh.0
