Why the hype?
Maybe I'm the minority here but I just dont get the appeal of 2v8. I kinda hate it lol. I just can't wrap my head around it to be honest. Whats the appeal of being ganged up on by two killers and being double tapped?
I mean, I can see how the chaos could be amusing for awhile but I can't take this mode seriously at all. Its like a party game where you go in and you expect to die,and laugh at how silly it all is. Thats how I see it.
The saving grace, and only reason I play it is because of the 5x multiplayer. Those points are nice. :)
Is 2v8 really loved so much? I'm cool with it coming as an event like the chaos shuffle and stuff tho to mix things up definitely. But as a stand alone match? I dont take it seriously, and im amused for about 3 or 4 matches and im ready to go back to the regular game.

Its mainly fun for the Killers because they can play with a friend. Survivor is miserable in 2v8 and BHVR is not really doing any actual improvements. I mean, we are at the 5th (or 4th?) iteration of 2v8 and they still want to make Survivors play by giving them a msasive BP-Bonus.
And I think even for Killers the novelty wears off. I dont really play 2v8 and always groan if I see that they implement challenges where you are forced to play 2v8. As I said, Survivor is miserable. But Killer is also not that fun for me, especially after that one time where I waited 30 minutes in a queue just to have the other Killer playing as Wraith and sandbagging me the whole game. Personally, I also think that the play while you wait-feature is not really a good solution. It is A solution, but not a good one. Because in the end, if I want to play Killer, I want to play Killer, not Survivor. And apparently there are Killers out there who queue and then try to get out of the game as fast as possible when their wait time for playing Killer is coming to an end to be in the Killer Lobby ASAP.
And, I have not experienced that myself, having to wait for Killers to end their Survivor-Matches as Survivor just increases the queuetimes…
So yeah, people like 2v8, but I think those will become less and less and for me personally it is a waste of time to work on that mode.

It was great the first two iterations last year. It was the fun chill mode with catchup mechanics, so it never felt like a stomp. Then they made it completely killer sided of course and ruined it.

I still think about the time I was juicing a Wraith in 2vs8, and after stunning again with a pallet, I was gonna embaress this man again with ankther vault I knew I was gonna make...
Only for Evan to come flying into my camera from the left side of my screen like some apocalyptic combination of Randy Orton and Bradshaw, and out of nowhere absolutely tomahawk clotheslined the holy hell out of my Kate into a backflip down...
I have never laughed so hard in any game of DBD before or since. That man scared the every loving crap out of me and hit the most awesome down I've ever seen. 🤣🤣🤣

Casual surv players find it less stressful. Nobody notices it when their chase lasts 20 secs.
-5 -
It's the only chance folks get to play killer with a friend
9 -
Two killers trying to get one down fast isnt that effective if survivors split on gens, for me problem is legion.
Chaos shuffle is ok but the items being guarantee and not random (at least addons its just all full of bnp and styptics with instaheals) this makes it into not so enjoyable too its just same again survivors pick best addons and perks and genrush and killers pick best addons and tunnel, slug now obly positive is maps offerings arent guarantee so there will be more variability and not just all badham and erye of crows etc. you cant play weaker killers either without best addons or you will be rushed in 4-5 minutes and tbag called noob thats just it chaos shuffle is just vicious circle.-4 -
I only like it as killer because playing with another killer feels refreshing, specially if you have a friend to play with, but the killer queues are insanely long, I know you can play other modes while you're waiting but playing another game mode to kill time while I'm waiting isn't appealing for me.
Survivor gameplay feels the same despite the class system, just with 4 more team mates.
2 -
I like it I get more survivor teammates and classes while I can also get a killer buddy to slaughter the masses I just wish there was more killer variety
-1 -
I like being able to play as a killer with someone else a lot but I don't do well and survivor is okay except for rubberbanding and getting two tapped

Everyone has different preferences. I personally find 2v8 a lot of fun on both sides. You have to play 2v8 with a different mindset than 1v4. For example, when I get double-teamed my goal is to see how long I can last and I certainly don’t get upset because there’s very little you can do. Usually I only last a few seconds, but I’ve had a few times where I was able to keep both killers busy for longer than that. Not only did it feel very rewarding, but it’s very powerful having 7 other teammates be able to not worry about the killers even for that short period of time.

I've always preferred Chaos Shuffle to be honest. The 2 VS 8 Survivor experience is just too samey for me. I get the impression BHVR think new Killers in each iteration is adding variety for Survivor players, but getting two tapped by a Blight / Wesker or a Trapper / Huntress is all the same to me. I want new classes. The changes to guide are neat I guess, but they're still the most boring class and I still won't be playing as them all that often. I would have preferred a new class based around crafting items like flash bangs, chem traps and blast mines, though I appreciate much of the dev time was spent on the play while you wait feature this time around.
The only reasons I play 2 VS 8 Survivor is while I'm queuing to play Killer or to grind for BP. Even the Killer aspect has lost some of its luster for me. Legion got some nerfs that have sucked the fun out of playing them a little. Playing an absurdly overpowered version of the Killer is a big part of the appeal for me. It was such a blast to zip around the entire map to try for that elusive final hit down but they play a lot more like 1 VS 4 Legion now.
Don't get me wrong. It's fun for what it is. But it doesn't have the variety of Chaos Shuffle to keep it fresh.

do you have a friend to play killer with
if not then you wouldn't understand but if so then try it out
-2 -
It's pretty bad I just played for bloodpoints, and I finished grindy milestones like escapes, gens, healing… need more killers almost all games are Legion, Wesker , Oni, and need more classes for survivor
1 -
also never understood it at least for survivor. Just extremely annoying to play
4 -
- The chaos
- Shake up from the norm - a lot of people do not want to continually play the 1 default game mode thats been around since the beginning and will also be around after 2v8 leaves
- The class system - a lot of people like it over 'perk builds'
- Allows people who would normally not touch killer to try out killer knowing they will be getting some help from a teammate
- The fact it isnt taken as seriously as 1v4, its just a fun party game mode
- Not as frustrating in loss, regarding both sides
- Constant action as the match progresses - pressure from both sides
Just some reasons IMO.

I totally don't get it at all. I can loop the hell out of a killer and then the other one just pops up behind me and whacks me (I did manage to outdo a double team the other day though and that was quite satisfying.) I only play it enough for the Quests, and the killer queue times are too high for me to wait for that role.
And there's a reason they're so long. If the killers are both just barely decent, it's a slaughtering field.
I will say though, I used it as a stepping stone to start playing survivor because I didn't feel like such a burden on my team when I screwed up. Its all chaos anyway. In that way, I think it's great to get an idea of the role without much expectation.

I'd say two things on the survivor side that I prefer:
1: Games don't seem to grind to a halt nearly as much. Once the killer gets the upper hand in 1v4, usually after an elimination, progressing the objective feels impossible, but the game might also last a long time (basically, I don't mind the loss, I do mind how annoyingly long it can take). It creates a feeling of being stuck in the game.
2: It doesn't seem as luck based. 1v4 feels like it is frequently won in the lobby screen. Killer camping? Well, I brought Reassurance (or, more likely, I just took it off). Getting tunneled feels either unfair or an automatic win depending on if you brought an anti-tunnel build or not.
1v4 has had some of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming, it also, by far, has had most of the worst. It feels like I'm searching for those rare games where the stars perfectly align. 2v8 I don't think ever matches 1v4 at its best, but its far more consistently 'good' than 1v4 is.

Bro, its a 2v8 and im still dying on hook. Lmao! You can't make this crap up. Like... there's 5 people left and im actually dying on my second hook in matches. Its hard to fathom 😅
1 -
Idk, I have a blast trying to mindgame 2 killers at once.
Obv you can get wrecked quickly, but there are moments I've been able to evade 2 of them at the same time for a good amount of time, and it was honestly kinda fun.-1 -
I have to say tho. Without the play while you wait, I'd have never played killer at all. This is what... the 3rd or 4th time we have had this? And ive yet to play killer bc of the wait times. So thats pretty neat

It is fun to play killer with someone else.
2 -
Boring game mode
Detest it even with a friend playing killer.
Played about 6 times since it first appeared.
2 weeks playing something else works for me.
-1 -
Only reason I even play the game mode is the bloodpoint bonus as survivor. I never really cared about the mode. Might do some killer matches but its not really that fun to me.

The distant cage spawns and the overall chaos seem to make people forget to go get people. You've got to hope you have one or two people on the team who've chosen to be the uncagers.
0 -
I play medic and I mainly rescue and heal from cages some of these cage spawns hurt though on certain maps are so big and they spawn on the other side of the map and I'm having to go on a great journey to save you I need a sprint burst or something to cut the journey time down
1 -
Yeah the massive maps make it hard, and by the time you get there, the killers are there too.
1 -
Yes!! I've noticed this, and haveactually almost did this myself since this post. (Been playing all day) so I take this back. 🥶
Still annoying tho

people say that chase is thr most fun part of dbd; therefore, 2v8 is double the fun.
1 -
So far, I'm having a great time. Of course, as a survivor you will die most of the time, but the points make up for it. And as for killers, I like the idea of teamming up, for my matches, me and the other killer have worked together pretty well.
1 -
Lol
-1 -
I played more survivor this 2v8 due to the play while queued system. About 2 survivor for each killer match. Not once did I feel miserable.
1 -
lmao sandbagging wraith for a team mate? That sounds like the type of team mates i get very often as survivor in 1 v 4 which is why i dont really like survivor role. My experience as killer in 2 v 8 was much the same, useless team mates like a sulking legion sitting in the corner on the map becuase he was teamed up with a trapper instead of oni. With that in mind, i found survivor better in 2 v 8 because there are so many people it makes the useless ones less noticeable. in 1 v 4 if i get 1 or 2 useless team mates it shows very quickly in the match.

Enjoy it, playing either survivor or killer, fun mode only thing I didn't enjoy was some people take the gamemode too seriously and rush generators or get a bit too kill hungry for you. It is a bit unpleasant whenever you played the weaker side killers and some of the maps are a bit too easy to work with like the Ormond map is rough unless you are facing against super new survivors, mostly cause of all the unmind gameable pallets makes it really hard vs the survivors who know how to play lol.
I don't know what some people are talking about it being the worst of the first 2 iterations when the only times it was bad was when you got paired with newer survivors or selfish ones. Which happens even in 1v4 mode. Easily will continue being a fun gamemode for me and I hope they continue adding it and add more classes. But I guess this community just wants to find stuff to complain about, which is fair enough some things truly never change.-1 -
I haven't played 2v8 mostly because of the wait and also I would get nervous at messing it up for the other killer because I'm new. The idea does appeal to me though. The idea of playing around with other people and seeing what killers work well together.
0 -
honestly 2v8 is fun to mess around. I usually get out I would say 8 out of every 10 games or so. Survivors are actually the over powered roll. The problem is, the MMR is not accounted for so you get a mix of people. Also since it doesn't count towards MMR ppl usually just mess around. If you get a full 8 man Swf though and everyone is pretty decent at looping and gen pressure, you will win the game fast! Killer's won't usually have time to do anything. if you coordinate with healers if 2 healers are always close they can pull off insta heals easy. if you have 2-3 scouts that pay attention you will never run out of pallets. Then of course have your best loopers run escapist. Engineer was just crap this time around and no one should have ran it tbh. I ran with a 7 man swf (usually 8) a few times to see how fast it goes. yeah games were going like around 4 min with only a few hooks and 8 man outs lol. Again though most people just go into 2v8 just for fun.
-1 -
To me, 2v8 was massive fun. I play both sides equally, but normal dbd just isnt fun anymore. In 4v1 you get tunneled out as a survivor, while as killer you either stomp the team, or get stomped in return.
2v8 was strange in that regards, because i usually would win both as killer and as survivor. My survivor games mostly had 4+ people escape, while my killer game usually had 4+ kills.
Also, as survior i almost always maxed out in 3 bp point segments, and as killer you were always close to the 40k.

Playing killer when you both know what you are doing is amazing and fun, I am not gonna lie. It's somewhat refreshing.
Survivior gameplay on the other hand is boring, repeatetive, nothing exciting never happens. (reason why we have 500% bp all the time…)
0 -
It's simple really….
Every system they have is….turned off….including my brain.
No stupid mmr, no going-next penalties, nada, nothing (sure no pipping either but idc).
Just…pure…unfiltered…..chaotic fun…..as it should be.0 -
Funny thing is, I actually get more escapes in 2v8 than I do in 1v4 (as both sides… I escape more often when playing survivor, and I get more survivors escaping when I am the killer.)
