Not only are there more chests to pull between nothing and something, this is a non-serious game mode. Anything that happens in non-canon. You also can't bring anything in with you so those items are only for the "serious" game mode.

I don't want an Apprentice Vial I got because I opened a chest and didn't leave it in search of something way better. I definitely don't need it for 1v4. That was the point of Fog Crystals. 2v8 only. Oh well. Another people-pleasing mechanic when that was the last Killer and Survivors' release.
