How would a shapeshifting killer work?
If DBD were to ever add The Thing or the creatures from the Mandela Catalouge how would they work as SWF would be able to counter them. I honestly dont see a workaround BHVR could pull off to make them work against SWF, they would only work if all 4 survivors were in soloq.

Yeah comms would wreck any mimic killer idea.

Easy, make the shapeshift NOT the main power, judt a little gimmick, it would be like nightfall, so you give them a good chase power and add a shapeshift gimmick.
That way once the good players know how not to get fooled the killer doesnt become useless.

this is why I shill for Parasyte; survivors figuring out the neon Claudette is an imposter doesn't matter when her face opens up and slices you up.

honestly i feel like it would have to be like a passive power or just something extra to that killer a small bonus not a main power, i could actually see like making it so when u got max madness from doctor he looks like a survivor on your team would be kinda funny would kinda add to the chaos he can create with his power.
but comms demolish anything that is based on information in the match.

Its enough to just not have a terror radius while looking like a survivor thatl get u close enough to attack, swf or not. Take skull merchant when she uses her drones and is conpletely silent, the only reason youd start running is because you see her coming, now you have to think about it and have someone call out that theres another of that survivor, but by the time you notice them they are alredy getting close enough to strike.

I also always think the thing might just be able to constantly change forms like dracula because it has no reason to hide as a survivor like in the movies where the humans were armed with flamethrowers ready to rush in and burn it whenever there wasan alarm.

Pod people.
This was a rough idea I had a while ago, but the concept is every time the killer strikes a survivor with a basic attack, it gains a pod token. It can then go plop down a pod anywhere on the map, and the pod hatches in 40 seconds with the skin of one of the current survivors you hit. you get up to 3 pods to place, and 3 pod people running around. The pod people's only objective is to go to the gens with progress and sabotage them, draining progress at .5c per second as they're "working" on them. They can work alongside real survivors, but they basically slow the progress substantially, which easily outs them. Survivors can attack a pod person and destroy it after a small time consuming struggle without taking damage. Pod people can also run in to "heal" a survivor, but instead, inflict them with Broken or some other nasty status effect for the next 60 seconds.
Here's the fun part: The killer can also transform into a survivor, and act like one of the pod people, even sabotage gens, but if a survivor tries to attack them or gets close enough, they can do a basic attack while disguised to secure an insta down.
Basically, the survivors have a 1 in 4 chance of guessing which of the 4 extra survivors is a pod person or the killer, And even with team callouts, it becomes difficult to decipher which is which unless the killers movements make it obvious. As icing on the cake, the killer has a cloaking ability so that it can scan and copy a survivor without being seen, once copied, it's revealed as a survivor, and moves at 4.2 m/s, only slightly faster than the average survivor. I'm sure you guys can think of situations in which this would be very useful for some choice sneak attacks, even against an SWF.
In other words, 1 lone shapeshifting killer = instant callouts by swf
1 killer + 3 Fake survivors = Confusion, and mistrust of allies, even with team callouts, because they don't know which one they can tackle down vs. which one is ready to pounce them for an insta down.

It wouldn't.

It wouldn't work as a primary power against swfs but a secondary one would be okay. Might get you close enough for a hit or down. It would still be alot more oppressive against solo players though. It'd get you a guaranteed hit/down against them.

Honestly, I think there’s actually one other license killer that can fit in this role and that is Gabriel from malignant. and ask for how a shape shifting killer would probably work, the idea would be to go undercover as a survivor to sabotage objectives rather than blending in.

I get where you're coming from but my recent experience in 2v8 where I've accidentally hatcheted my partner Nemesis's zombies as knee jerk reactions more times than I'd care to admit I think we might be surprised how well it works.
The trick would be to center the play around the initial confusion. It wouldn't hold up for long but it would buy you a moment or two of not realizing what's up.
That said - it would be a miserable experience for survivors. Like what would the counterplay be for anyone not on voice comms - just avoid your teammates at all costs?
