I’m sick of seeing pain res and deadman’s switch every single match.
Honestly I don’t like playing survivor much I don’t really enjoy it because I see the same perks on killer every single game and it’s annoying I understand that’s the only and best gen regression perk there is but why don’t the devs nerf other gen regression perks like call of brine pop eruption or something.

Same, when survivors used the same perks every round they made a massive deal out of it and did a whole update based on "shaking up the meta" which they said applied to both sides. Yet when killers use the exact same perks every single match (DMS + Pain Res + Dead Lock + Grim Embrace + Corrupt etc) it's completely ok despite being so predictable and boring for survivors….
It's such a boring build for killers to bring for themselves as well I much prefer fun builds like undetectable builds and stuff but it's always the sweats and blight players who need it the least that end up bringing these meta builds. Really unfun and can see people not playing anymore because of it I'm personally also sick of it but killers would moan if devs did anything because they're too reliant on perks for kills and to them wins>fun.

Don´t worry.
If you play longer you will get more meta changes than you like.
And you can bet that with the next shake maybe these perks disappear but that something way worse may arrive.

You pretending you don’t still see Dead Hard, Decisive Strike, Windows of Opportunity, and exhaustion perk, Off the Record, Deja Vu, Prove Thyself, Resiliance all the time?
When survivors are running other stuff it’s because they’ve had some other good options like Finesse, Shoulder the Burden etc not because the other perks got nerfed to be useless; which is why it’s rarer to see things like Pop Goes the Weasel, Eruption, Ruin etc as they got nerfed to be basically pointless to bring as the value they provide is so low.

I played 4 games of 1v4 yesterday and saw a grand total of 1 perk not dedicated to regressing, blocking or slowing gen progress. It was Nowhere To Hide. Even the non gen regression perks people are using synergise with the regression. I escaped in 3/4 of those games and it was still miserable
I far preferred the games I played like a week ago where I lost but the killer recognized that the killer win con is trying to hook survivors 3 times each and not trying to damage gens 8 times each
-1 -
Why are you surprised by this? Killer has very little perk variety because it all gets gutted by complaints (or for no reason at all) or they arent really useable on most killers to begin with due to design or killer design. And the good perks require conditions that are favourable to survivors (spreading hooks) or are contingent on the killer needing downs and hooks. Meanwhile survivor gets huge passive value from many perks with no interaction needed that can also combo with others perks for great effects and has a ton more viable perks and therefore perk variety than killer.
Killer literally isnt allowed nice things. Im surprised our last few meta perks havent been gutted yet tbh.
Let's not forget survivors tend to run their most reliable defensive/chase perks non-stop and you see them every game as well.
Nothing will change until survivor gen progression is actually balanced so gen regression isnt a practical requirement and then killer chase and utility perks need to be buffed. Survivor is in an infinitely more healthy internal perk state than killer is.

Because they're the only viable slowdown perks. I also get irritated about these perks when I play survivor, but I understand why they are being used so much. If they nerf these two perks, there aren't many slowdown perks left for Killers.
10 -
You can bring whatever you want; most regression perks are currently pure placebo with no real impact on the match. They only serve to make a completely one-sided victory to feel even more crushing for survivors, but when the killer is losing they won't help at all.
-15 -
Well, behaviour really doesn't like to shake up the killer meta. Unbound was buffed to be good then it got nerfed to be just okay-ish, save the best for last was nerfed, call of brine went from terrible to barely useable, pentimento was nerfed and it was carrying hex builds, leverage duration is too short and can be outwaited in most cases, all of the anti-healing perks got nerfed after the mangled changes and the newest killer meta perk is scourge hook jagged compass and that's only becouse scourge hooks placements are rng based and even then you don't see this perk too often.
Top all of this with the fact that no other replacement arrived after best killer gen regression perks got nerfed on the 8th anniversary patch and you can see how we are where we are.

I'm not even lying when I say I see way more variety in survivor perks than killer perks, even just bringing fun perks like scene partner and the guitar one are so common, aura builds, speed builds etc there is way more variety than the killer builds in all of my games. Killers ALWAYS bring DMS and pain res it's like a nice rare surprise when they don't

there's plenty of meta builds for killers, If i'm playing nurse I'll bring an aura reading build, if i'm playing chucky I find it fun to bring a stealth build to complement his size. The issue is the vast majority of killers play to get a 4k every single time as opposed to playing for fun which makes the games dull for everyone. It's always the blights, ghouls, weskers, nurses who dont need a meta build that bring it and makes playing survivor feel like a chore and unplayable
-12 -
We won't mention off the record into a decisive strike into a dead hard or the new conviction into a plot twist. Acting like it only happens to survivors is a joke.
6 -
DMS is the larger problem. 50 seconds of blocking a gen, especially when there is 1 gen left, is ridiculous. Pain Res also shouldn't count as "letting go of the gen" for the purpose of activating DMS.

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted just like the others who said this, but the reason you always see these is because they’re the only viable slowdown perks. Everything else has been nerfed into uselessness because of complaints. If any of the downvoters want to offer up some viable alternative slowdown builds, please feel free to do so.

I get why killers do it but I was finding this incredibly tedious to verse, especially when I get hit with Surge followed by Pain Res and DMS. It is one reason I went on a break from DBD…. I was going to come back for 2v8 but Legion.
I would far prefer some alternative to slow gens, over being able to stack slowdowns as it really is depressingly boring to verse all the time
4 -
My very unpopular opinion is to play Characters with their personal perks. I will drop one of their perks if it's just trash and doesn't fit the rest of the build but generally I will run at least two of their Perks and try to build something around it with my other 1 or two perks.
I've found that it personally makes the builds more interesting and fun but, it's a personal preference.
2 -
Only this "plenty" in the case of the Nurse sounds very funny
Because her attack is now M2 and she is 3.85 ms killer, not M1 - playable builds for her are either auras, or kicking/slowing genes, or hexes but they will be cleaned in the first minutes of the game...
Oh yeah, you can sacrifice addons to make her 4.4 or 4.6 to get M1 perks, only then "plenty" will be available for "fun" builds
=====================================================================================================
People who write that there are no other alternatives are right
Either you take the meta and have a chance to win / play longer than 5 minutes , or they repair 5 gens faster than you can play with your fun build
When you playing with your "fun" build, you expect it to work, but it doesn't, far from it against normal survs
Convince me as much as you want, but with normal survs you have almost no chance, and with people who loot chests, clean totems, stealth in the corner or run around the map looking for something - everything will work out
I am more than sure that the creator of this topic is either a newbie himself, or plays solo, where the mathmaking is a real pain for both sides, and the teammates are to blame or mathmaking
If you or your teammate know(s) that the killer has DMS, then either do not get up from the gen, or what normal survs do - start (you or your teammate) repair the 0% generator and immediately stop it, DMS will block 0% gen
Even when I'm playing survs with coms, my (casual) teammates need to be reminded 200 times what each perk does and how to counter it, because they don't think about what they're doing
Or they run to unhook after a second when someone is hooked, instead of using the time of each stage to the maximum
If you want to get rid of this perk, you need to nerf it in exchange for something equally effective, and not just kill it because you don't know how / want to play against it
P.S.
For those who might be offended by the so-called "normal" - meaning survivors with a good amount of experience in the gamePost edited by Dem34888 on0 -
I remember trying to get friends into this game as a hangout and play together type thing. I quickly realised how much I needed to explain to them. It was exhausting honestly. Newbies don't understand the aura reading mechanics. How many times I heard "how did he find me", "He came right for me".
And it only gets worse. I took a break for several months and theirs Killers I dont even know how to play against. Imagine being a newb casusal, someone that doesn't know or learn all the powers and perks.

as a killer player i would love to not see 2+vigil and sprintburst every single game, not to mention 2-4 decisives

All survivor "meta" perks are counterable by not doing something unfun for the survivor such as tunnelling and slugging, whereas the killer meta perks are uncounterable you just have to accept your gen is blocked for ages or it's losing an insane amount of progress so u have to sit and hold M1 for another 30 seconds
-3 -
DMS needs nerfing or changing. I just hate running from gen to gen.
-1 -
Killers don't really have any meaningful regression perks left. Even PR is fairly weak considering it can get reduced or even zero value put of its limited 4 tokens if the top gen is low or not worked on (happens a lot if a generator gets completed just before a hook). If you want to see variety, then regression perks need buffs or perks need to be added that make regression less mandatory. We are in the age where gens can literally be completed in under 30 seconds with organized SWFs.
9 -
fr 50 seconds to wait is just way too long it's more than half an extra gen its an insane amount of time and ruins the flow of the match
-2 -
Stats alone show survs are way more likely to bring meta.
At least with DMS the killer has to earn it (being more of a win more perk) while survs just get things like windows, deja for FREE or get things like DH and DS for losing.
The investment requirement for these perks is just not even close.
4 -
I'm just generally tired of both roles having about 10 perks that everyone uses.
9 -
Killers have to bring slowdown perks to cover for basekit gen speeds not being addressed.
7 -
There are less meta killer perks then survivors and killer perks matter more than survivors because that perks are against 4 players not one so ofcourse killers run stronger perks on avarage. Tell me who has better chance to win with trash perks or none survivor or killer? If we dont say nur, blight and look at other killers then ansver is clear its easier to win as survivor with bad perks or none than as killer especialy if the killers is weaker than a-tier and has bad or none mobility then he is lossing more than he should.
1 -
If DS is really a consistent thorn in your side, that's kind of a self-report, tbh. I get DS'd like once every few weeks. If the killer isn't tunneling, it's a wasted perks slot.
For the first couple years I played killer, every match you were staring down at least three of the survs running some combination of old DH/DS/UB/BT/IW/Adren. Guaranteed. There was as little perk variance as you'd ever see.
It's relatively wide open now compared to that mess.
But to echo others, seeing the same regression perks now is largely a result of a lack of options. Most of the other alternatives have been nerfed to the ground. And I'm talking about the reasonable ones, not garbage like old Eruption.
1 -
They do need looking at, but in order for this to work then other perks need to be changed in what they can give, or the game is rebalanced to ensure that there is a viable alternative or the game doesn't necessarily need such perks.
There does need to be some give and take. The reality is not everyone will fully support whatever happens.
1 -
Well, there are not many good alternatives to use right now.
Surge is basically M1 killer onlyEruption is eating through regression stacks like crazy and basically viable only with Nowhere to hide
Corrupt is good, but most players prefer slowdown that last during mid/end game.
Deadlock is not good unless you want to use it for camping, which is not good overall. It has very low synergies with other perks.
Pop has quite low value right now in my opinion.
CoB/Overcharge are jokes instead of perksOppression is decent perk with Surveilance, but wouldn't even count it as slowdown perk.
Ruin is very slow and hex, wouldn't use it outside of full hex build.Last good regression perk killers have got is Pain res and you are surprised you don't see anything else?
13 -
Killer needs to hook, killer can't hook too soon (DMS currently activated) and effect can be fully denied by survivors. It's not that hard to simply tap gen with no progress…
It can also help you "protect" gen from the killer. Just make sure to not let Pain res trigger while you are on gen, not that hard imo. Then keep working on it and what exactly DMS does if killer pushes you from the gen? You wouldn't work on it anyway during the chase and killer can't kick the gen…0 -
im a killer and I'd love to see gen regression perks nerfed and I don't mean a love tap I mean full reworks or cutting efficiency by half
-6 -
The problem is DMS. Should definitely not block for 50s. Pain Res should also deactivate as soon as someone dies by any means and lose all of its remaining tokens in exchange for going back to -25% regression per usage.
Survivors overall have a wider variety of good perks to choose from so you're more likely to face different perks from them especially when there's four. Yes, there is of course builds that stand out more from the others, but the odds of actually facing a team all using those same builds is quite unlikely.
-1 -
killer perk variety only looks terrible because obnoxiously annoying perks like these are around. but OG Pain Res was the "problematic" perk lol..
gen blocking is just a different flavour of Eruption...
1 -
CoB/Overcharge is a great example of a combo that needed to be nerfed but got nuked instead. Why make perks fair when you can reduce them to ashes? It's BHVR special.
8 -
One of the many reasons why stacking had to be removed from the game. To prevent two perks from being used together, we now have two useless perks, which will remain useless to prevent the situation from repeating. If only the highest value were taken into account, these problems would never arise and we would have two perks to choose from, plus 3 other slots for different uses.
1 -
You can't just ask people to think and be strategic. That's crazy.
2 -
The devs made kicking gens faster, eliminated one tap and increased the completion time so that The Killer could use other perks, but it didn't do anything. If the devs made generators take two hours, it still wouldn't be enough for some people.
-5 -
Cause other gen perks got murdered. Rebuff gen perks, revert franklins, and revert sloppy/hemmorage and mangled and then you'll see some meta shift
5 -
Of course it didn't do any thing. You extend gen speeds by 10 seconds then add 27 perks that improve gen speed and expect it to be a balance move? The gen kick speed wasn't enough to even notice and they completely abolished gen strategy by only allowing 10 kicks no matter the regression amount of those kicks. So nope, can't be happy about much there.
4 -
Give us back old eruption please. It died for your sins, but it was right all along.
-1 -
Every time Killers get something viable other than gen regression, Survivors shriek about it until it gets rendered useless. Just take a look at a few months ago: hex builds suddenly became a viable alternative with a simple Thrill of the Hunt buff because they weren't getting cleansed right out of the gate and would finally last long enough to provide value and be defensible. So what happened?
People cried and threw tantrums about it until it got nerfed about 2 weeks later and now hex builds suck again. Then the Pentimento nerf came around which utterly destroyed them for the foreseeable future (because now the hex builds 'last resort' is garbage).
1 -
Fog vials got the same treatment. Instanerfs go both ways.
6 -
TotH wasn't 'viable', it was busted as hell. It's still viable, just not able to create scenarios without counterplay anymore.
2 -
The killer win con is turning 3/4 survivors into victims any way you can manage to do so.

I'm more surprised that more people doesn't hate on Friends till the End (don't know if I can word my true expression about it without facing the banhammer). But I am really tired of seeing that god-forsaken perk almost every single game.
Had it not picked obsessions randomly, and instead prioritized people that hasn't yet been hooked, I wouldn't have been that cross about it. But when you are in the middle of getting unhooked, only for that damn perk to light up on you, knowing that there is going to be a tunnel off the hook.. I don't think I can let that one slide.3 -
It is boring but I honestly don't know if I care that much. For me, the issue isn't regression so much as what regression typically means in a trial. The Killer will block a bunch of gens and/or regress them quickly, only to then use their extra time to blatantly camp/tunnel/slug. It's the same thing we've seen for the last 3 years now. If the perks added some tension to the game, that might be fun. Otherwise, it's just fighting an uphill battle and I can't always bring myself to care. I'd rather run around and cleanse totems instead.
Dead Hard got kneecapped pretty hard. The main reason you see it all the time regardless (in my opinion) is because it's one of the only skill perks in the game. Hyperfocus is up there too but players that want to increase their skill don't typically like to sit on gens all trial.
The issue often lies in good Killer perks aiding in camping/tunneling/slugging and accelerating kill rates (again, in my opinion). The biggest Killer perk nerfs the last 3 years all came with some sort of side-effect of stopping the trial completely. Whereas a lot of the Survivor ones I can think of were things that were limited to the endgame and/or allowed them to escape chases easier. You can correct me if I'm wrong there.
I used to love doing this, but it became too unbearable over time. Especially when the new Survivors have perks that don't even sound interesting or don't have any practical use. For instance, I genuinely can't think of a way to use any of Vittorio's perks that would be fun for me. But I love Vittorio and want to play him too.
To be fair, those changes were the kinds of things that are incredibly painful to solos and mostly negligible to coordinated SWFs. There's always this thing where what, 10-20% of players are somehow the face of the remaining majority.
-1 -
That was equally stupid. Fog vials were fine. They just didn't need to be infinite use.
