Did the hatch get nerfed to being silent

It was hidden in the grass on swamp and it was so dark I couldn't see it and it was completely silent. The doors spawned by eachother and I saw a totem light up meaning noed.
Yes my fellow survivors decided to kill themselves on hook and dc and I was left to get the last couple gens out the way to escape.

Also why do all random claudettes think they can claim the hatch and not do anything.

Its about as silent as footsteps now. You cannot hear it unless you see it....
