Did Milestones get nerfed?
Comments

I'll never understand why BHVR never goes for reasonable, gradual changes. They could have increased everything by 1.5x instead of 3x, and then adjust the next Rift based on those results. But no, we jumped straight to this absurdity. More grind, less reward. This is the first Rift since I started playing that I might not finish, because it's absurdly grindy and it makes me lose enthusiasm to play. They can't FOMO me into self-harm. Also most of the cosmetics are mid anyway, I want Detective Unknown and nothing else.
And can someone remind me, is it normal for there to be only three outfits on the free track? I could have sworn past Rifts weren't that barebones.

I think the secret is to be sure to get all the dailies done every day. And of course the temporary events that pop up, like chaos shuffle and 2v8. Get all those done and all the dailies and you should be able to still get to tier 100 easily enough.
0 -
Also weeklies. Those give you 3.75 Rift Levels each week. So assuming you just do the dailies AND weeklies you are getting 10.75 levels just from the quests. The rift has 11 weeks so that gets you to level 110 just from those. Add events and odd milestones and you are good.
That being said… those 230 hooks I need to finish step 5 will take a hwile

Someone let me know if there are any changes to the milestone quest in the new patch. The notes have no mention of any changes..but i can dream…🤞
1 -
Thank you.
Are you able to share why the devs felt the need to increase millstones by so much just after it's first iteration?
4 -
I will check at home, but if there are adjustments it will likely be from the next rift.
Doing it while the rift is ongoing would... Have interesting results and could break some things.
-1 -
you would hope that they can change the numbers without breaking the game hahah…but then…🤔

As the person who made the thread, I am glad to finally hear from you! I appreciate you taking the time to read and share the feedback.
While I do think the numbers were a bit low last rift, I think it's too mucj this time around. Also the rewards kinda.. suck.. I really liked how the rift fragments would scale with what Milestone yoj had reached. It made it feel more rewarding. That actually engaged me and made me feel like playing.
Now it's grindier and gives less rewards, the numbers become so high and makes me feel less inclined to play. My suggestion, if yoh guys felt like people completed them too fast; increase the grind a bit, but keep the rewards as they were last rift. Don't alienate your casual audience, who can't grind hours to get 1.5000 hooks (also hurts newer plays who may struggle getting hooks in the first place).
Make it reasonable.

It is NOT a simple number adjustment
Using my own milestones. I am on step 5 with 521 hooks. Assuming they change the numbers to 521 being on step 9 - the system has to do something it was never designed to and recalculate the rewards and steps.
I imagine it would much easier to adjust the rewards (with some blanket compensation) than decrease the numbers required for each milestone
-1 -
my thoughts exactly!
-1 -
I never said it was simple, but I can’t imagine it being rocket science. Can’t be any harder than fixing a bug that causes unlimited uses of items or the right side of a staircase causing you to run slower. Idk, I don’t see them unable to adjust the numbers and compensate those who reached X level…

Just completed the Step 10, 550 heal states. Such a grind for...2.5 rift levels. Sounds unbelievable but it's true. 3 days of just dailies which is 3 games is more than that.
4 -
still holding out hope for an update in the next chapter update.
0 -
how is everyone progressing? I only have 1,210 hooks to go 🤣
4 -
You gotta get over 2.5K hooks for step 10 in one of the milestones 💀
1 -
yup, that’s wild!!
2 -
Im only on step 8, and I have like 20 something days to do this. It's just not happening, thats way too much.
2 -
same also step 8, I’ll be lucky if I hit 9 before 2V8 ends…
2 -
I'm not past step 5 on any of my milestones yet. I think I managed to complete every single one except the escape milestone last time, but I'll be surprised if I complete even one for this rift. Definitely won't complete the Survivor ones when I go back on hiatus from the role when 2V8 is finished.
I'm not too bothered as long as I can still complete the free track of the rift. And I should with the remaining weekly challenges left (think I have about 10 levels to go). But surely we can reach a happy medium between the first rift milestones and this one? Are these milestones only for the players that play nothing else but this game?
6 -
seems like that, I have been grinding during 2V8…it helped a lot on the survivor side but for killer ir is dreadful. I still hope for some adjustments before the rift ends. Seems silly to have unachievable quests in your game.
4 -
Still no fix to that? Bhvr moment...
2 -
nope, and I have been politely asking on Twitter. Just keep getting ignored 🤔
3 -
I guess they won't change nothing till the new rift and even that is not guaranteed since all they care is killer mains tears and not challenges, look someone even downvoted my post above🤣
-1 -
I want to stay hopeful, I can’t see how they would not be able to adjust the numbers in the live servers. Either way I would love for an update on this discussion, even if they can’t or don’t plan on adjusting anything. Any sort of communication would be helpful.

I honestly don’t get why everyone’s so upset about the changes. Sure, the previous rifts went a lot faster, but this one doesn’t really feel bad either. Since the rift released I’ve only been playing around 3 matches a day (so about 30–45 minutes), and I’m already at Rift level 88 with still 30 days left to go.The milestones also dont give anything besides a few bloodpoints. So I’m just wondering, why are people so annoyed by this?
-5 -
personally, I would just like to complete them. I don’t see any reason to put a challenge/quest in a game where 95% of your player base can’t even complete them. I understand why they increased the numbers in comparison to the previous milestones. However they went too high in my opinion. My issue is only with the milestone increase. ✌️
6 -
I know what you mean. I'm right now on step 9 of survivors quests and barely on step 4 on killers. It's too much grinding and it feels exhausting. I don't think I'm gonna make it to step 5 on killers since the queues are so long to play on them.
4 -
yup, I am at step 8 on hooking and still have over 1000 to go…..2V8 helped a lot and without it I’d be much lower. Very frustrating indeed!
2 -
I do get why some people would want to fully complete the rift, and honestly if there were rewards locked behind it, like a banner, charm, or skin. I’d probably be annoyed too since that would feel almost impossible to finish. But right now, it just disappear after 30 days and there’s not even an achievement or scoreboard to show how well you did in past rifts.
At the moment, the milestones mostly feel like filler to keep you engaged. Personally, I think they’re kind of pointless and not really worth the hassle. That said, good luck to everyone grinding them. I hope Behaviour adds some more meaningful rewards in the future so there’s actually something worth playing the milestones for. :)

I hadn't noticed that the milestone quests got significantly worse until a few days ago.
I've only missed like a week so far but I'll have to do increasing amounts every day if I have any hope of reaching level 100. Might not be worth the time anymore. Even with 2v8 these challenges are not giving enough and having to login every single day is strenuous.
6 -
I thought I was imagining the the difference in the grind, and it doesn't help when matchmaking gets screwed up because 2v8 is back
This is starting to feel like a job, and that is making me want to play less not more.
6 -
Late to the party, but my thoughts exactly. The only motivator for me are Felix's suits which are nice, but they're not enough for me to bust my butt to grind out. Plus they have the same common issue the game has had for years—a set that matches itself and nothing else. Absolutely kills the potential for mixing and matching.
I skipped last rift despite completing it because none of my characters were in it. This one is the opposite, but I'll likely skip it as well because the effort isn't worth it.
3 -
So this rift will remain with such terrible rewards with signs of fomo?!
0 -
I dislike that you now have to rely so heavily on dailies to max out your rift. The milestones used to give 10 scaling up to 100 fragments per tier, 38 levels total. Now they give 17 total if you even manage to max them out, making you rely heavily on the dailies to complete the rift. It's a big difference for players that don't want to play every single day but instead play the game in bursts at a time, it feels pretty FOMO to make the dailies so crucial to level up.
The improved dailies are welcome, but they nerfed both the fragment gain and requirements to the milestones so hard that completing the rift at your own pace feels impossible, especially with how harsh the new requirements are for the milestones. The only reason I was able to get to max tier is by ensuring I played every single day to get the overimportant dailies in, otherwise I probably wouldn't make it.
I'm really hoping they both fix the milestone requirements to be more reasonable and make the rift fragment rewards scale properly with these milestones next rift.
Also needing to complete every single weekly challenge to get the final weekly challenge reward is frustrating, though I managed.
5 -
100% agree
I have finished all quests and event quests, but failed to finish rift simply because I usually can play only over weekends, but longer sessions. Issue is this approach was just heavily nerfed and you are forced to doing daily quests.
6 -
- I don't want to defend the Devs, but if you do the challenges, both the daily ones and the "special" ones (like 2Vs8 challenges), progressing in the rift is quite easy. In my opinion, according to the Devs' philosophy, the ideal is to play "a few games" (like 2-3 a day) but every day. Obviously, if you play 1 day a week (maybe playing 10 games), you will still progress very little in the rift.
-8 -
Not everyone can, or wants to, play every day. People have work, social, kids, and sports commitments, plus all the other fun things that come with running a household. Not to mention when people do have time for a few games one night they might feel like playing a different game and not DBD. The devs can absolutely make it so you need to play daily to make it through the Rift, it's their game afterall. But in all likelihood a lot of people who can't play every day will just stop buying the Rift Pass because they don't feel it's worth it if they can't finish it. That's the case with me anyway.
6 -
That's the exact thing people are not happy with.
Before, you could afford not to do daily challenges every day if you played a bit more when you could to do the other challenges and milestones. Most people who have jobs and other things taking time outside of DBD were satisfied with this (even if it's still inferior to tome challenges overall in my opinion) since even if they could only play a few days a week, playing longer to power through the challenges and maybe advance a few milestones in the process could make up for the lost daily challenges.
Now, the milestones numbers are insane to reach. Every challenges overall give less and/or demands more time except the daily challenges who, if done every single day, can do most of the work as they grant more and can usually be done in 1-2 games.
But that's the problem, someone who doesn't have that kind of time is now forced to make time to at least do dailies, which makes the game feel like a chore more than a game. It frankly demotivates to play further than necessary for the rift.
8 -
THIS
Lemme grind this in a week-end like i used to do
Now they just demotivated me. The Milestones are useless
I now have to play the dailies everyday before going to work (and my soloq is surprisingly much better than when I play the week-end but that's not my point)
4 -
This grind in this rift is insane. Worst rift so far.
5 -
curious to see if they listened to our feedback and adjusted the milestones for this new rift…
0 -
II Don't know, but when I logged in, there wasn't even a Milestone section in the quests. Just DbD Day, Weekly and Daily. Hopefully it's a bug, or they heard us complain about Milestones and just removed them lmao
6 -
The ultimate nerf: they're just gone entirely 😁
10 -
seriously? 😳 😂
0 -
I have no milestones on PS5
3 -
Yeah, they're not part of the Quests right now.
3 -
Nerf: removed milestones quest
Reason: We didn't want our empty as hell 16 weeks long rift to be completed too qwickly
9 -
I’ve only been playing about 30 minutes a day since the last rift released, basically just doing my dailies. Let’s be honest, one killer match and one survivor match is usually enough to finish them. Even with that small amount of time, I still reached level 100 with 21 days left, and I hadn’t even finished all my milestones. It really just comes down to consistency, not grinding nonstop.
What a lot of people seem to forget is that the Rift technically ends at level 70. That’s when you’ve completed it. Everything after that just adds extra rewards for players who rushed through and still have 30–40 days left to play. Levels beyond 70 are meant for people who really focus on the game or just have more time to invest.
I keep seeing people say it’s unfair to those with jobs or families, but I have a family and a kid myself, and I work 12-hour shifts. The difference is just prioritizing this game a little more over others, it’s not that hard, just takes a bit of dedication.
-3 -
Would be cool if someone from dev team confirmed if the removal of milestones was intentional or not
3 -
My guess is that by focusing on licensed content, they feel like they can cut their losses here. In fact a lot of the game feels like that right now. Like they're phasing things out that shouldn't be phased out.
