How to counter X
Hello everyone,
since we have to wait for the Anti Tunnel, Anti Slug and maybe an Anti Camp here are some good advices how to counter these playstyles.
Camping:
A tale as old as time and it had been a bigger Problems from the times when I did start to play DbD. To this Day i smell Bubbas breath on my chin. Okay enough nostalgia.
Camping is one of the easier mechanics to counter in Dead by Daylight. The simple solution is do Gens. (I know this would be easier if Kindred or a visible HUD was in the play but there are since that people are camped.
- Don´t sprint to the hook right after the survivor is put there and I can´t stress this enough. I think this behaviour has come a long way since most Player have no endurance to not play for a brief second. It was kinda normal that people who are camped try to off themself as fast as possible, which made this strategie strong as #########, but this isn´t possible anymore right? So if you see that all your mates are sitting on Gens and none gets chased its most likely that the Killer is sitting close to the hook. Take your time and do the Gen, its a huge difference if you unhook the survivor in the first 5 seconds of the hookstage or the last 5 seconds, this difference is the progress the killer is giving you for free.
- Go for the trade as late as possible but and i stretch it out commit to the unhook… I have seen this so many times that a survivor is just standing close to the unhook an is waiting till the survivor drops to phase two or even worse dying. If you go for the trade have the guts to go down for the trade.
- I beg you to follow the last advice please dont stand in the anti face camp feature or just stand there in a camping situation at all. I can´t count the times even with the AFC that a bubba drags me to the basement and stands direct in front of me. (no problem, i got ds in my perks) but than i turn my camera and someone is sitting on the basement stairs for 70 seconds and i swear it to god i could lost my marbles.
- Honorbale mention… if the AFC Bar if Full take your sweet time to unhook yourself, dont do it as fast as possible, waste the time of the killer as he wastes yours and please if you go for the unhook and you went down for what ever reason, crawl away from the hook you don´t want to give the killer the possibility to camp two survivors at once.
Tunneling:
The problem many survivors are facing in DbD and the solution is a little bit more tricky.
- First of all an advice for the teammates please consider doing gens if you notice that a killer want your mates butt. If you have a flashlight thats great and you can try to safe your mate but this doesnt consider to follow the whole chase for serveral tiles or your mate still at full health.
- Unhook as late as possible or when the killer is far away from the hook. If the killer gets his first down, there are 2 possible outcomes. First scenario the Killer starts camping (if that is the case read what to do against camping.) Second scenario the Killer is searching for a new target. If you become the new target go the **** away from the hooked survivor. Take the opposite of the map as your playground.
- If you see the Killer is chasing someone new go to the hook and think about the following. Can you heal the survivor fast enough. (This is a bit tricky cause you don´t know the perks your teammate has.) If the killer drops the chase with his new target and rushes to the hook there are two things you can do. Either go to a safe spot to heal your mate or do it like me and run straight into the Killer (note: don´t do this against an insta down killer) If the killer goes for you, great he won´t tunnel anymore. If he tries to ignore you go for the bodyblocks, try to buy your mate all the time you can till he reaches a safe spot or could hide.
Slugging:
Slugging is a problem I often think is the fault of survivors, it´s not fun but if the Killer can hit 8 healthstates while 3 others can´t pick up a full recoverd survivor, well I don´t know. But here are some tips I can give you on your way.
- Don´t recover on the spot all the time. Sometimes it is worth to crawl a bit away so the Killer has no clue where you get picked up.
- If two or more survivors are slugged on the same spot crawl appart from each other. Give the Killer the guessing game, where he has to be to find the last survivor.
- Please don´t crawl directly to the survivor which is trying to pick you up while the Killer is nearby, try to distract the killer by giving the "false" signs of you trying to come closer to your teammate.
At all I can say, these playstyles are legit to play, but against every playstyle you can still try to play the best.
I say sorry for my spelling, English isn´t my first language.

You know survivors don't really use the forums as much. So your list is great but your basically just telling a bunch of split play or killer mains that their tactics do have a counter. Except tunneling I hear so much claims how to stop it. Killers will say "it happens because you have bad team mates who are not intervening on your behalf." Or the opposite like your suggestion your dead but at least you helped your team do gens! If course if you were better you definitely wouldn't get tunneled is my fav. Or to clug your perks up with a bunch of anti tunnel. That only extends your torture.
Camping is low key not a problem just bring chalk pouch and struggle on hook some times you get off and can runnnnnn freeee!

I came up with my own counter about a year and a half ago that is far easier: I simply don't play survivor anymore.

The effort is admirable but people don't learn, I gave up trying in vain to get simple concepts like doing gens against campers into heads. Or trying to encourage more positive styles of play with the naïve belief that being a positive example will change behaviours.
Unfortunately the tunnelling with probably increase until actual disincentives are in place, as those who rely on this tactic are going to make the most of the time they have left getting easy wins from tunnels at 5 gens.
