Have You Noticed, DEVS? We Still Have a Cheater Problem that You’re Ignoring
What was that stream just now? Players are telling you there are cheaters for months. Your streamers are telling you there are cheaters for months. And yet, you guys did nothing the entire time. And this was the outcome.
If you won’t take action and dont know how to handle it, at least listen to your most respected creators to overcome situations like this rahter being tone deaf.
OHTofu was well aware of this issue while hosting his own tournament he and his friends knew about the DDOS threat from day one. They took it seriously, filled every spectator slot for the entire weekend, and made sure cheaters couldn’t interfere. That’s how professionals handle problems.
But BHVR releases updates that feel like it's mocking us, broken, sloppy, and frustrating. Your recent streams haven’t been any better: one has audio issues, the next gets hit with DDOS attacks. And after all that, instead of addressing the mess and making an apology, BHVR promotes the Darly skin on Twitter. At this point, are you trying to fix the game or just cash in?
Just embarrassing

Just today, I played against an invisible survivor and another one who started self-healing while he was intangible… And those are the ones who don't even bother to hide it. This is probably the only games where a cheater is allowed to directly kidnap you until you DC and nothing is done about it for years.
The situation is even more absurd when a large proportion of players inject items and skins into their accounts, causing BHVR to lose money, and it is seen as the most normal thing.

To be fair, I haven’t seen a blatant cheater for a very long time. I play in US eastern time zone, typically 8-11ish in the evenings. Maybe there just aren’t many cheaters in my region or they tend to play other times? 🤷♂️
-10 -
If they wer ignoring it, there would be no option to report it or any anit cheat systems put into place at all.
They are not ignoring it. We just need better systems.

Cheaters are in dbd like politicians in corrupted country they dont get same treatment as others do and if they are caught their punishment is ridicilous only thing they loose is just another few minutes and they are back in the game, now they laugh in players face when caught cheating and they can because report system is just joke or you can spend another 20+ minutes to file report (with some evidence) and make them waste few minutes.
7 -
Like last year they dont bother to hide it they dont even think about it now and I have noticed this right after fnaf chapter droped, why should they they dont get punished only messege with ban and waste few minutes to switch to new accaunt.
1 -
Just another proof that these devs live in a bubble.
3 -
There aren't and not around that time. I'm in the same region and I typically see them after midnight. Now, I can still go weeks without seeing one but a few weeks ago I had ran into at least 2 teleporting, instahealing, and speed hacker lobbies just days apart.
Overall I think it's timing, and probably what you said, not that many in the region. Plus, most of them target popular streamers or ones who have a reaction to them.
I don't stream, plus when I go against them, I just play normally even if I have to lose. But yeah, you have a slightly better chance of running into them in our region after midnight, but they are still few and far in-between.
2 -
I play after midnight sometimes and the amount of cheaters I've met after the walking dead update has skyrocketed. I'm not sure if it's because they tightened matchmaking or my MMR has gone up closer to the hard cap or what but they're not a rare find anymore, I find some in almost every game session if a play enough matches. I'm talking completely preventing unhooks by blocking the hook prompt, lagswitching so you can't pick them up, ragehacking their speed so you can't catch them even when you have haste and they have nothing…
I don't even blame the devs for not being able to fix auto dead hard and wallhacks and info cheats where you can see where everyone in the match is and stuff, that stuff is almost impossible to prevent these days with how advanced cheats have become in all online games. But why on earth does this game not have more server side validation? Why can a survivor just suddenly speed up and the server goes "Yeah that makes sense" without even validating anything? Teleport across the map for a flashlight save, things like that, that just shouldn't be possible in any way shape or form. And I mention teleport because I specifically had Infectious Fright equipped, got a down, but hey, no scream, pick up, boom, player with flashlight appears without a single perk to prevent screaming. It's ridiculous.
Why can you give yourself BP, cosmetics, anything you want to your account and join in a match with these items in the first place? You can'd to that in any other large online game, like Fortnite or League. Do they not keep a database for each player and validate that what the player is bringing is something they actually own? This goes for BP as well, this game is always online from the moment you start it to the moment you close it and you're booted to the main menu if you lose connection, but somehow, someone's BP, items, addons, etc, can't be validated and checked against what the server has stored to prevent people from giving themselves any items or addons or cosmetics they want?
It just baffles me how these things are possible in a game of this size and with such a large team behind it. I get that anti cheat isn't easy but cheating at this level being possible in a game this big is not defensible. I just wish they would take it seriously and create a team that could look at DBDs network code from the ground up and figure out how to implement proper server side validation to prevent at least the nastiest, strongest cheats. Hire someone if needed. Maybe it doesn't affect enough players for them to care and the code is too old and complicated to fix. It just feels so hopeless to play against this stuff regularly.

whats worse is these loser scumbags can come in instant kill your team and cause you to depip because of the go next prevention system.
4 -
There's no depiping system anymore, except when you make something really special, like DCing a number of times
-3 -
thats not even true because i never go next and i never dc but i had a hacking killer instant kill the team and i lost an entire grade, i watched it happen to a streamer live too.
3 -
Look, it was done into the 7.7.0
https://x.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1782454487845609769
Here is the official account from dead by daylight with a video saying that, it was into the mid chapter update 7.7.0
here's, the screenshot from steamSo… Or Behavior are really bad at codding and can't even do that correctly, or your killer can depip you, or, again, you face one of the possibility that, you get so quickly kill, that you lose the pip
-3 -
depiping like that was removed yes, but the new go next prevention takes a whole grade away. So depipping is back. Its supposed to be a punishment for killing yourself on purpose but it can be triggered by getting tunneled too quickly or in my case a hacker ending a game in 30 seconds.
Here is it happening to aroz at 17:20 for example, seen it happen to others nd have had it happen to me like i said.

Yup. In the last few days, I've had teammates cheat twice. One of them could not only move at lightning speed and heal instantly (the usual cheats), but they could also cheat themselfes INTO the gens while repairing, so the killer had no chance to down them and stop the repair process.
The moment I realized they were cheating, I stopped playing and tried to alert the other teammates. Luckily, after noticing they also immediately stopped doing gens, and we all went to the killer and farmed with him while the filthy cheater continued cheating his gens. In the end, we other 3 voluntarily sacrificed ourselves to the killer.
In the second match, I saw the clown down a teammate (I had the perk that lets me see the killer's aura when they injure a teammate in any way), and I could see that when the killer picked them up, the survivor cheated by launching themself into the air from the killer's shoulder, preventing the killer from hooking them. At that moment, the killer disconnected and apologized in chat afterwards. Logically, no one was mad at the killer.
To be honest, there are killers in the game that I absolutely hate, but as soon as I notice that I have a cheating teammate, I instantly side with the killer, no matter how much I actually hate the character. I HATE cheating , it´s going on for years and EAC is a joke.

I don't see it either. I've only ever gone against one Killer that was cheating like those comps you see online in the last 6 years. But as you know, DBD is the king of anecdotal evidence. I'm sure people are experiencing it and we should count our blessings that we're not.
2 -
its honestly crazy you can go through stretches where you never see them, then they come in droves.
5 -
It's the same for me with camping/tunneling/slugging. I'm sure I experience it more than a lot of people, but that doesn't mean it's not there. It varies enough to maintain the 40% but man is it miserable.
1 -
I'm in EST zone and I just had my third cheater in about a month (it's currently 4am tho). Before these three, I'd never noticed one before. The subtle stuff might have bypassed my notice but these were blatant.

Same problem! When we had a slugging killer at 5 gens (randoms with flashies camped killer) and he downed us all, system detected that I tried to go next lol, depiped me and plus dc penalty, btw in your video you can't see ur dc penalty because you didn't dc-ed last matches, in my case I had 2 dcs before cuz my game crashed and then on 3rd match we faced slugging killer that lead to my new dc penalty with grade loss

I had a game with a cheating trapper and their name was the website link where you could buy the cheats….. and this was earlier this week….

also forgot to say we all died so fast we all had a little above 3k bps….how is this still a thing…
2 -
EU is a swamp of cheaters lately. And due to the anti go next prevention systems we also get depip and a match ban due to these cheaters (cause we die too fast).
2 -
Supposedly they use the free version of EAC, which would be a good place to start if it's true, maybe having the payed for updated version would keep it more ahead of the curve, it's not really a small game anymore.
emphasis on supposedly tho.1 -
You can never be free of cheaters. That said, bhvr can do better against ddos and server side validation.
2 -
There are definitely numerous cheaters around there with various types of programs. I even once saw the one who uses cheat that prevents you to press report button.
0 -
I mostly gave up on this, talking about it can and will get you banned on Steam if you link to videos about the subject and Google seem to have no issue with cheat sellers peddling their wares on their sites. I tried reporting but Google completely ignores reports.
All you can do is report them in game and hope they get banned and don't ruin too many of your matches.
It is actually becoming a plague in gaming in general though, anyone who played something like Rust recently (also EAC lol) knows how out of control the cheater infestation is
4 -
Problem is that in dbd cheating is more beneficial and almost non punishing because of their anticheat being joke for cheaters and their huge mistake in history with epic games this lead to cheaters creating with bots so many accounts that are sold for less than a dollar and lastly reporting cheaters takes more time than playing two games which is huge problem too. Now Im seeing more and more cheaters not just that subtle ones that just pick few more perks they dont have equiped and give them selfs mft all the time in chase trying to hide their cheats all the times not just mehs running to gen while being chased to repair it infront of the killer with invurability (you cant injure them or grab them as killer just sit there and wait till they finish the gen or move on to other survivors very enjoyable to play game with this kind of cheater) or survivors just on stranger things map running throught walls, teleporting and flashlight saving others through walls which plays like this was comp match siding with cheater is very poor state of this game. Dont get me wrong there are killer cheaters too but ususaly they are bots which kill you in first minute of the game or loading screen so you go next fast and they are way more rare than survivor cheaters, there are even teams, sfw teams which are all on coms and play with cheater as their friend this is sick too.
-3 -
Crazy these types of cheats even work, like honestly compare any other game and the cheaters in there they have NOWHERE near the power of cheaters in this game its actually insanity.
0 -
I totally agree with the creator of the post. Hackers are becoming more common than developers expected, and they urgently need to improve their anti-cheat systems; otherwise, it will be impossible to play this game. On top of that, there are also a lot of issues with the servers getting hit by DDoS attacks.
Behavior… you have to stop this!
2 -
The Epic Game give away was long ago and wouldn't contribute to a rise in cheaters now compared to then. Any anti-cheat be it Easy Anti-cheat or any other can be and has been bypassed by cheaters. A lot of the cheats we see today should be caught by the server but too much trust is still given to the client.
1 -
That epic game give away is the problem that still effects cheaters till this day it gives them basicaly free accaunts in few minutes it may not effect the rise but it only supports it.
0 -
I don't think it's them because that giveaway was long time ago and probably most account are already banned, it's mostly msstore users with gamepass share its almost free I heard, so I believe epic accs are kinda expensive

At least in Rust, they have a bunch of active admins who patrol the servers. You should look up camomo10 on Youtube, who is one such admin. His videos are hilarious, in the ways he punishes cheaters.
But yes, I have been actively playing a lot of games like Call of Duty and Counter-Strike in the past, where cheating was almost a daily sight. Especially in Counter-Strike on the European servers. VAC did absolutely nothing to prevent cheaters at the time, and the higher you climbed the ranks in that game, the more intense the cheating got, even up to a point where you got into one of these HvH (hack vs hack) lobbies, where there was at least one cheater per team, duking it out over who's paid more for their cheat. It was anything but fun for anyone who played normally.
Not to go off topic here, but it's actually been a few weeks or so since the last time I saw a cheater in DBD. So the cheating problem do exist, but not to a great extent. Like this example where I was playing with @cogsturning and we had a random Sable on our team who was cheating, making one of the survivors stuck in the ground, while completely disabling the killer. This was on the US East server.
I had another game a week prior where a David was noclipping behind a locker, to the point where he appeared inside, but was actually stuck behind it, where the killer could not get to him.

Yeah I am familiar with Camomo and like his vids @THE_Crazy_Hyena
But servers without active admins are unplayable due to cheaters, even ones with admins have active cheaters and Camomo proves this. They still cause misery before they get banned and they only get server banned, so they move onto the next server while EAC does nothing lol
I cant really comment on DBD recently as I took a break before 2v8 and didn't come back because Legion was back in 2v8. But it seems cheaters are still ruining the game…. sigh.
2 -
ive seen two cheaters in about two months and both were doing it obviously and for the memes. One was in 2v8 and they were invisbile and spammed the heal power so it looked like a black hole was spawning in the map. Most of the lobby stayed to die for in game collapse for the killers which was nice. The other was a month or two prior and it was a duo with speed hacks while i was killer. they were honestly hilarious and i held drag races with them. Both got disconnected mid match so I assume they were banned mid match.
I dont think DBD has a serious cheater problem, people cheat yes, but its not super common in my experience.
However I do think DBD has a salt problem. I cannot tell you how many times ive been reported for cheating because…believe it or not….i can infact see your roblox esque tails on yui when you're hiding. And here your footsteps while creeping around. Other times its just bad luck or prediction.
personally i would like to see an official statistic of genuine cases of cheating and people just being salty and reporting.
That being said. one cheater is too many and they should be hardware, software, IP, and whatever other ban you can think of. they're the scum of the video game community….unless theyre funny about then i forgive em.

Well, MOST cheaters are not blatant cheaters. Most don't want to be noticed. The first time I ever encountered a cheater (that I know of) was actually when I was playing survivor and I stayed around to spectate. The Meg it turned out was a cheater, but the killer never would have known if I had not told them. You see, she was slugged at end game, the gates were open and he was off hooking someone else. Two things showed me she was a cheater.
1. First, she left her generator repair script on, so she was getting constant great skill check notifications…
2. She crawled super fast out the exit gate while the killer wasn't looking. Like definite speed hacks.
I definitely made sure to tell the killer she was cheating and to report her, and that I would be also. Speed and generator repair hacks.
But like I said, there was no way whatsoever for the killer or even me to have noticed if I had not been spectating her.0 -
I think these accounts are still working and arent that much expensive through time but now looks anticheat is bigger issue because before subtle ones which are in higher numbers from cheaters tried to hide their teleports, speed increase or perks but now they just going more into your face with teleports, invunerability or insane speed hacks, being invisiable or sabottaging hooks while you carry them or other survivor (met this on midwitch and if it wasnt when pyramidhead was buffed then I would have been lucky to kill even one survivor downed couldnt been picked up someone was healing them but no one was there and invisiable cheater was doing it all time but saddly for him cages exist).
0 -
I took a break from DbD for a couple of weeks, then hopped back on. First match, survivor, we do a good job against a Clown and I escape first out the gates because he caught me opening them at the last second.
I decide to spectate and I notice that a Feng Min is healing herself but her skill checks are an entire "great" zone and she has the medkit add-ons that boost your healing on greats. Another teammate, an Orela, is instantaneously teleporting items into her hand without Dramaturgy. Both were teabagging and clicking at the exit gates.
First game back and I'm reminded why I should leave again.

I just hooked the same surv four times in one match and they got unhooked after the fourth one and escaped. So yeah.
