How am I supposed to learn new killers with this match making system
Why am I getting 4 man SWF's and sweats when I'm literally playing a new killer for the VERY first time? Please sort out your match making system because it's really difficult to learn new killers powers in itself without having to contend with the most toxic sweaty 4 man SWF t bagging you and constantly blinding you. I now don't want to play nor learn this killer because I've had such a bad experience he feels clunky and weak it's ruined the idea of playing him in its entirety. Please just make MMR medium-low when starting a new killer to make the learning experience more pleasant, especially for new players who might have just spent money on the killer then regret it.

And I know they were a SWF because of the harassment and toxicity from all 4 of them I got in end game chat despite playing fair and not tunnelling or camping, this games community is awful.

Give each killer a player uses, a separate MMR. Of course I am better playing my main, but Inused to enjoy switching between killer. But I can't pöay against the same MMR. I think it'sboring, that I am stuck to one killer.

I have this problem every time I play new killer, my opponents are atleast one duo and it doesnt matter they are p100 but they are sweaty and toxic which is great combination to get something like this on new killer I not experienced with and not used to his power. Only time I got potatoes was on my first ghostface game and adept straight unlocked because they were kinda new (no more than 500 hours against 2k hours killer) and I didnt even need to use stalk to get fast downs or any hadrer mindgames just faking directions on paletts and vaults then going around and getting hit almost for free but that happens when you get very unexperienced survivors against solid killer its just slaughter same goes for good survivors against new killer (when there was no mmr the blue eyes wraiths or nurses which didnt know how to blink and chased you as m1 what a guarantee win but that was like 4-5 years ago when mmr wasnt a thing).

well just because you're playing a new killer doesn't mean you're new to the role itself so it doesn't make sense for it to give you less skilled survivors so you can stomp easily just because you're learning a new power.
all killers pretty much share the same mechanics and gameplay loop except nurse if you wanted to practice a certain killer then you have bots which should to an extent teach you how to be comfortable with the power and how it works before you get into real matches.

You have custom games with bots if you want to get familiar with a killer's power. If you say that's not the same you'll be right. So would playing against survivors that don't know how to play in order for you to practice.

I use custom games to familiarize myself with the controls before hopping on live. Most killers have a degree of skill transfer so I don't expect the game to throw me less experienced players. It really doesn't take long to build muscle memory imo.

I believe that each killer DOES have its own separate MMR, but when you purchase a new killer, it takes the current average* of all your existing killers and uses that to assign an "MMR" to that new one. I agree that this is an actual example of being "too punishing for killer" and they should give you some breathing room when you're first learning a new power.
*It may not be an actual "average" but they use some algorithm or something…

As many have said above, killers have the ability to practice with bots. It’s an incredible resource and you can decide everything from your own perks to survivor perks to maps and items. I would absolutely use it.

I get the same experience whenever I try a new Killer, too. Equip some anti bully squad perks (Iron Grasp, Agi, Lightborn and maybe Mad Grit too because it's funny) and decide you don't care about winning or losing for your first 10 trials. That's what I do.

Like others have said, try afew matches in custom against bots to get the feel of it.

I dont talk about lowering my MMR. I mean a complete different MMR for every killer. For example, I am realy bad at playing the Huntress and pretty good with Doctor, so it doesn't cut it for me to just lower my main MMR from Doctor. I am worlds apart comparing my skills as these killer. (I am also one of the really bad Nurses.)

The idea that you can practice against bots beforehand in custom games is completely off the mark and utterly ridiculous. What the original poster is highlighting is that new players with zero or near-zero PvP playtime are being matched against survivors who already have hundreds or thousands of hours under their belts.
This is just one example of how, even when new users start playing DBD for various reasons, matchmaking and player population issues make it difficult for them to stick around.

I think the bots in Custom Match are sometimes more difficult than a lot of players you actually face (wall hacks and such), especially if you give them items (like auto-lock beamers) and great synergistic perks which I love doing because making it too easy wont prepare you for the actual difficult matches you have. But it's great practice when trying out new Killers and Perk combinations.

OP is not a new player

You can't seriously compare playing a new survivor to playing a new killer. Sorry, but no sorry...survivors are just skins, unlike killers.
-2 -
Lmao the "mmr". There is no MMR. You're seeing SWF's because that's all the game is now, unless you play SoloQ Surv then you are the outlier here. Most matches are against SWF's at every "mmr" rank because BHVR ruined SoloQ into almost nonexistence. Maybe after 10 SWF you'll get a rando match that feels like taking food from a baby, but otherwise, no.

How is playing a new survivor even remotely close to the same thing as playing a new killer?
1 -
Thats actually what already happens. The game already does assign and track a different MMR to each killer character, it just doesnt assign you the MMR of a brand new player when you start a brand new killer. The devs understand that game sense and game knowledge puts you above a brand new player, even if you've never touched a particular character.

With the new grind system where perks from other survivors that you’ve leveled up transfer to new survivors, yes you pretty much do have everything you need. Spend a few blood points for a the items that you want and you’re good to go. Playing a new killer, even with all the perks and add-ons that you want, is a totally different and way more challenging thing than playing a new survivor.

@BHVR Time to speed up the MMR rework please , thanks! <3
This is not just a new killer thing though, DBD's MMR algoritm is just very bad to non-existent. Personally I can't wait for the MMR rework, literally anything else would be an improvement at this point. I wish for an MMR where Solo lobbies might actually get lower tier killers more often and SWF will be more pushed towards higher tier killers.
From my experience, as a 2016 veteran with a stupendous amount of hours, I feel like the matchmaking is just trying to keep up with ppl in Q. Like if you go 1 second over a specific time frame then the matchmaking will give you literally anything, which is usually a highly coordinated SWF in the majority of my cases. (I check steam profiles to confirm this, so don't even attempt to gaslight me on this)
I often try to analyse my DBD experience and try to imagine myself as a hypothetical low MMR killer, as in maybe I'm not as good as I think I am. But then the main question arises: why am I not pushed towards all the solo Q survivors complaining? It literally doesn't make any sense. The majority of the matches I win (3 or 4k) is due to survivors giving up at the start, afk, dc or going next. I am actually convinced the kill rates are masively inflated due to these reasons.
