The original Freddy design
Watching a lot of molded dbd content really makes me wish I could play old doctor, skull merchant (detectionnot gen defense), or even Freddy when you had to put the survivors asleep yourself. Just something about how the way their powers used to work just seems like a fun way to play.
With the new killer the Krause coming out and basically having old legion game play it made me really want to see these old killer powers come back in some way. They dint have to be a strong killer but just a thematic one that's fun to play like old Freddy. Maybe a stance switching stealth killer that plays like a combination of old Freddy, doctor, and skull merchant would be fun.
For example the killer could be completely invisible to survivors unless they're in the killer world then the killer could have a trap mode and detection mode. The trap mode let's the killer put down tracking traps and place the survivors in the killer world while the detection mode makes use of the survivors that are tracked and can also have a special attack that only works against tracked survivors.
So the rest of this will just be further details on the killer because I am desperate for old Freddy game play despite how bad he was.
So the survivors would start put in the normal world unable to see the killer but they can hear his lullaby. Once in the killers world weather by being dragged in by a trap like a dredge locker grab or by being put in by the killers ranged attack like singularly they will hear his terror radius.
Survivors in the killer world only have one way out and that's through special areas that serve as bridges to the normal world a survivor on the otherside must drag the survivor out of the killer world. If all survivors are in the killer world a gateway will open allowing the escape of all the survivors but during this time the killer will see the auras of all the survivors In his world.
The killer uses his traps to coat the survivors in a weird liquid which reacts violently with the beating heart the killer holds in their left hand. When survivors are in the killers world and affected by the traps liquid the heat will beat towards the afflicted and become faster the closer the killer is. When the killer is in range of the survivor they must aim the heart at the survivor long enough for it to jump out and explode the survivor making the survivor injured and rid of the liquid requiring another trap placement. Survivors cannot remove the liquid and it stays on them even once entering the real world.
Thematically I think this killer would be fun much like the unknown but I do believe they would be weak. Overall this is just something close to what these old killers were like and I just want these mechanics to return even if in another form.

I'd definitely go with bringing the old powers back to the old killers if I could. The old Freddy really went with the theme of Freddy Kreugar. The first rework took us away from that and the latest version took us even further away. I'll be the first to admit that some number changes were needed for old Freddy but he was a lot of fun, but difficult against decent survivors. I miss pallet Freddy too much not as much as "Freddy Kreugar Freddy" when he was like Freddy Kreugar.
I suspect that Myers will have lost his identity too. he'll probably still be too generic to make him feel like Myers.
I'd love them to put them back as they were and just keep tweaking until they feel good. I don't mind if they are both D tier as there are other killers with a gun/dash killers that I can use to scratch those particular itches.
I'm not a fan of reworks that change too much as they alienate the fans. Ask any Skull Merchant main. The original Legion fix was the most necessary rework, but it was early enough to not risk alienating too many people (and that really was broken)

Old Doctor was terrible, clunky garbage. The rework made his power much more fluid and easy to use.
Old Freddy was one of the most complained-about things in the game at the time and was reworked for a good reason.
And I don't need to point out why old Dully can never come back.

I do remember BHVR saying that OG Freddy was too weak for good players and too hard to deal with for new players. But from a personal perspective, I thought he was fine when I was new and felt "balanceable" when I had more experience. Probably a bit like GhostFace is now.
