1v4 is ranked mode at this point
I wish 2v8 was the new casual mode, while 1v4 would be the new ranked mode with ranked rewards. 2v8 is so silly and fast paced and I love that as a casual player. Sadly everyone here on the forums hate 2v8 ☹

BHVR is scared to make 2v8 permanent because they know most players would never touch 1v4 again.

I don't know how you can enjoy 2v8 for more than a few days when it's just legion, wesker, oni simulator and getting double teammed.

Forums are a big vocal minority. Majority of people playing enjoy it way more than the regular 1v4. Which is evident just by player stats when 2v8 rolls around & the game gets thousands of returning players. There is a reason BHVR asked in their recent survey whether people want it to be a 'come and go' type of event or actually be implemented permanently.

The big question is that if they made it permanent but took away the BP rewards, making it truly casual (since you don't need perks or items to play it so BP isn't needed for it) how many would still play?
Players are always drawn to the big BP incentives so of course 2v8 has a lot of players.

I remember RIOT actually officially confirming that the reason they weren't keen on returning certain gamemodes in League of Legends is because they noticed a steep playerbase drop-off whenever those gamemodes closed again.
So there's industry precedent, for sure.

I was gonna say this. The first couple iterations of 2v8 felt fun and balanced, but now it's as predictable and boring as 1v4. Boring Killer combos, unchecked camping and tunneling, weak comebacks, etc. I easily had an escape rate in the 50s when it started, but it dropped to 21% or so this last iteration if I recall. Absolutely miserable.

The numbers don't prove anything. The only reason I ever play 2v8 is the BP bonus and to play KWF. I would never touch survivor without that bonus. Let them do a 2v8 without the multiple and see how that goes.

It's something some people like to claim but in reality whenever 2v8 is out, OMG SURVIVOR IS MISERABLE, OMG LEGION MAKES ME RIP MY HAIR OUT, OMG ONI OP. I bet you if there wasn't a 5x bp going on, they wouldn't ask for 2v8. 2v8 peaked with RE then it's been downhill from there.

People are also drawn to it because it wrecks the normal 1v4 queue. You wanna sit and wait for a regular match for minutes or play a 2v8 match right now?

I stopped enjoying 2v8 as soon as after having 3 gen chase 6 people left me dying on hook in endgame. Only me and other dude died, and both of us had twice more points than half of those who escaped .
I had the game where two survivors found a key and waited for everyone to die.
Or when person cooped with killer only for them giving him hatch later.
I hate “e couple killer” thing as well. Don’t put me in sandwich, please…
Too much teammates were sandbagging, sams killers every time. I don’t know how people able to play survivor this mode more than few hours. When I play killer I also barely do matches. Even with friend. But maybe because my mains not there + ghostface is seems alien in this mode.
