New Rift [Reverence] is embarrassing
I am writing this post to express my dissatisfaction with the new Reverence Rift.
It's incredible how the quality of the Rift has declined so noticeably, and it's disrespectful to all players. We're paying the same amount for less content and lower quality. I think of Tome 20, “Mythic,” or Tome 21, “Dominus,” and it's sad to see the latest rifts compared to those mentioned. Poorly executed designs, themes that are uninteresting to the vast majority of players, little variety of characters, excessive recolors, removal of lore, charms, and banners that aren't even centered on the characters who are supposed to be the main characters of the Rift... Where is the value? Why is it becoming another Fortnite (but worse)?
Also, why does this rift last 4 MONTHS? I understand that the Christmas and New Year's break is coming, but that's no excuse to keep that bad and lame content for 4 months! The Overwatch battle pass is similar to DBD in terms of quality/variety, and they release a new one every 2 months. DBD should do the same in my opinion. It's not right to have the same rift for more than 3 months when there's no new fun to keep the hype going.
The only decent thing about the Rift right now is that they give you back the same amount of Auric Cells (they should give at least 300-500 more if they want to be like Fortnite, at least that would compensate a little better for the poor quality of the entire Rift).

Also the Dredge skin in-game model hurts your screen since its too large. Nobody. Quality. Tested. This. Rift. I can't. Maybe stop pushing DLC every month if you can't handle it.
23 -
Yes it’s insane. I can’t believe this company is real lol…
16 -
The free rift has 2 skins.
The PAID rift is 6 skins and bunch of recolors.
Milestones are gone, not sure if it's good or bad.
All in all, not really worth anything, is it?
25 -
the dredge skin looks like used toiletpaper compared to the referenced design
15 -
Laziest premium rift yet, 3 of 4 survivor outfits are just terrible looking for the survivors, a 'ok' spirit one and a good trick one that looks like some effort went into it, then we get a full set of recolours before level 70… sad state of this game.
7 -
And the laziest free rift too.
They really couldn't put some glitter and refletive stuff on a base cosmetic for idk, Plague for example?
13 -
I'm pretty happy with the length tbh. It makes it a lot easier to grind out since they'll be more events which means less of a need for dailies. This last one was awful as a more casual player. I had to do dailies almost everyday in order to finish it. No idea why milestones are gone though; assuming it's a bug.
I like some of the skins but wish there was more of them. The recolors and the bare bones free side leaves quite a bit to be desired.
Pretty meh rift overall though. I think my favorite thing is the cat badge.1 -
The worst rift ever made by BHVR. Not bying the premium.
16 -
Yes, I think the best thing we can do is not buy the Premium.
12 -
wonder if they just ai generated the whole rift.
Regardless, the drop in quality and the push towards more monetization has been evident this last year.
23 -
They've the chance to make better cosmetics and more recolours after Krasue justified complains being OP but they blew the chance to make players grind for the cosmetics like they did it on purpose.
Such a disappointed Rift.
4 -
personally i like the moving eye banner and badge lol
1 -
I mean, critic is fair and I agree on most, but it's definately not worst rift ever, like many people said. There is cool stuff as well.
-11 -
Nevermind. They didn't even test these skins once.
20 -
They haven't put an item in the premium track of the rift that made me think "Wow, I can't wait to get that" (in a non-sarcastic way) since the rift with the Bill outfit, and all I wanted from that was his hat. If I didn't get my currency back every time I'd have no reason to buy any of them since then. I made one purchase whatever year that was and been getting them for "free" since then. They rarely include characters I play, and when they do, it's unappealing stuff I would never use. Next survey they do should include questions about the rift and cosmetics in general.
3 -
Why aren't any of the stained glass skins…shiny? like, even the ascended versions are just regular skins lmao.
They're so basic compared to the hippie flower skins we got a couple rifts ago.
5 -
I've said this a lot, but I'm going to go gloves off this time. Again, all of this is my opinion.
Cosmetics are getting uglier in general, and the Rift is the epicenter of a lot of that. Just talking heads alone, the styles are so cosplay-wig adjacent with that Playdough-y Fortnite look to it. We're getting ugly glasses and ugly piercings on top of that too. Then when it comes to the outfits, they're real hit or miss. That top for Jake with the denim jacket was cute, but the sports bra was absolutely not. If we wanted to go Sleepaway Camp, there was a much better way of doing so. And David's outfit from the metal Rift was borderline offensive, how HIDEOUS it was. I use the top sometimes, but even that is hard to match with his existing cosmetics. The game has always had issues with encouraging play with the cosmetics, but it's getting worse as time goes on. Sets that don't match anything but themselves. Vittorio is a fantastic example of that with his tattoos. Why would you make a set that changes them red when most of them are blue?
I could rant for days about it. But if they want us to play dress up, give us SOMETHING. Ugly stuff that doesn't match anything is encouraging me not to spend money.
17 -
Yeah this is easily the worst rift. I do not really like anything in it. I was hoping maybe a sable recolour at least but nope… recolours for nobody!
8 -
lol all my money goes to Overwatch now. Both my kids play for fun and epsorts so they NEED the battle pass and someone’s skin. I have the Auric Cells saved up but I haven’t purchased the rift from three ones ago. There really isn’t anything worthwhile and it’s really bad. If you care about cosmetics then yeah but other than that they are pretty dull.

I really don't enjoy how the last few Rifts have been so heavily themed. I want clothing, not cosplays or high fashion. You used to get a variety of outfits with maybe a broad idea uniting them that still allowed for variety. Now everything is a single specific idea that everything adheres to and I don't think any of them look good outside of one or two exceptions. I don't want to wear this junk on my characters.
10 -
I agree completely. I think it can be fun at times, but it's almost like a bunch of cosplays like you said. It's getting to the point where I'll spend 10 bucks on maybe 2 outfits and only 1 piece from each is worthwhile. That's a really crappy deal.
For instance, Felix's suits from the last Rift caught my eye. I hated the heads, but the bodies were nice. The problem is that only one of them were really great to me and of course it was the last one. That is so much time, effort, and ultimately money for two pieces of one set. I'd rather just play with what I already have.
3 -
Agreed. Trying to mix and match with the high-concept outfits they keep giving us is a nightmare. I appreciate they base the Rifts around themes, but they also need to make sure the outfits are wearable! Yun-Jin's is probably the only outfit this Rift that strikes a good balance between fitting the theme and being wearable. The hairstyle, at least, pairs well with a lot of her stuff. Most of the others are too overboard.
They need to remember that this game is not Fortnite, and practicality also needs to be considered. Long, flowy dresses whose physics regularly break and obscure the game are not practical. Outfits so white that they're practicaly luminous are not practical. And neither are weapons that are so big they block the screen.
I've long been a huge defender of the art team in this game. For years they were the only part of this game to consistently deliver quality content. But in the past few years things have gotten kind of messy…
5 -
The only thing i liked in the last rift was thalitas booty pants lol. Not even 1 thing to look forword to in this one, and the one before dominus.. i almost didnt buy it for once.
1 -
So true. They're just going too overboard with the concepts. Like you can make a Rift themed around "growth" without having literal flowers stuck to every part of the outfit. A Rift a few years ago with the same theme would've just given us a selection of wearable outfits with some floral print or. Or a united green/brown colour scheme or something. Now though they're being way too literal with the theme.
Same with the "tomb" themed Rift we just had. You can convey the idea of a bones without having to stick actual bones to a pair of trousers (they did Thalita dirty with that lol).
And now we have… stained glass… It's such an incredibly niche concept that I'm baffled who approved it. 🤣
2 -
Definitely. If something is silver and gold and it clashes, it's whatever. But a pair of pants with 5 colors is not going to match very much at all. A gigantic black and bright blue mullet is going right into the junk pile.
I think back to the older collections and while they weren't perfect either, they at least gave me lots of room for play. I still get so much mileage out of the Mean Streets collection to this day.
It's a tragedy. I liked Thalita's skirt and boots combo from the metal rift in addition to David's tops. But other than that, it was a big waste of money.
2 -
Mean Streets collection to this day
True! Mean Streets is a real treasure trove.
I also personally miss getting good base-outfit recolours. Vee is the first character in a while that I feel had good ones. We've had a few years where the recolours have had kind of weird colour schemes or patterns.
2 -
Absolutely. Not to get all fashion critic, but it feels borderline sinful some of the stuff we get. I'm not going to match a pattern with a pattern. 😭 Sometimes we need denim and solid colors to balance some of the crazier stuff. Why can't we have a cute brown leather bomber jacket or a black button up? A great example of that is that citrus shirt for Dwight years ago. It's loud, but that's fine because it's still practical and can mesh with lots of things. I'm constantly finding myself stuck where I think one piece would be fantastic with the right top or bottom, but it doesn't exist. Instead we're getting more and more stuff that can't be mixed or matched.

Seeing this up close has me wondering how on earth the scissors in the original concept art got translated as two knives (?) stuck together in one arm and a saw (?) in the other. I actually don't understand what either of the things he's holding are supposed to be. Like, it was very clearly a pair of fabric scissors in the original artwork and now its a pair of nondescript blades.
3 -
Honestly took the words out of my mouth. Me and my duo joke often that we spend more time dressing up our characters than actually playing 🤣
It's definitely getting harder to cook up good outfits though. There's not enough "neutrals". All of their original Survivors should have a store option for a plain shirt and pair of jeans in a couple of standard colours (like black or navy or something) IMO. They already have the meshes because the Twitch/Iron Maiden shirts exist. They'd just need to recolour them.
When I saw the Axekick shirts that came with the latest Chapter I was so excited thinking I could have a plain(ish) black t-shirt to mix and match with on all the Survivors but it turns out they only added it for like four Survivors 😭
A great example of that is that citrus shirt for Dwight years ago. It's loud, but that's fine because it's still practical and can mesh with lots of things
True. A lot of the older cosmetics in this game are great for combo-ing. I wish we'd see more in that style: fun but relatively simple.
3 -
I even miss old cosmetic flavor text. They had more personality to them. Now every cosmetic goes for a serious and grim mini "story" but it rarely lands and just feels bland to read. And then there was the time where every cosmetic only had a single short sentence without any detail or color.
3 -
I totally agree!
I've always enjoyed the more down to earth cosmetics, but I feel like we've been getting less and less of those. This recent rift especially is the worst I've seen in awhile. Does anyone actually enjoy this "theme"? The stained glass doesn't even look like glass, lol. And the Dredge skin not only blocks most of your screen but also looks significantly worse compared to the amazing concept art.
Overall this is just so disappointing.
7 -
Very disappointed in the cosmetics from the current Rift as well. Most of which looks half-baked, as compared to the quality of past rifts.
Really not worth it, if you ask me.7 -
No kidding. I opened the game to see the new Rift, decided I only liked Ace's blonde head (which is saying A LOT because Vittorio is obviously one of my mains), and played dress up for like 30 minutes. Figured I'd play one trial while it was open, experienced yet another steamroll, and closed the game again. 😵
We really do need them. If every piece is competing to be the most special and amazing, we just end up with something that looks like a trash heap. Maximalist clutter is a thing to be fair, but none of it is quite that either.
I wanna say I see the vision. Couture Spanish cathedral, or something along those lines. But unless you plan on wearing each outfit as an entire set, what do you do with it? Never mind the fact that the colors are very bright and/or saturated and highly visible. It's like they're designing cosmetics for a different game.
3 -
It's baffling that they decided to skip outfits and recolors of previous pieces while creating the ugliest pieces with multiple recolors that match nothing. I see no reason to purchase this Rift until I know I'd get all my auric cells back. At least in previous Rifts, I could look into recolors that may interest me if I didn't care for the theme, but this has to be the weakest Rift by a landslide.
6 -
Yeah, you can't mix and match these skins with like anything, lol. I love to create good looking outfits, but these recent rift cosmetics can't be combined with anything! They all look so over the top and needlessly gaudy to me.
4 -
Definitely. Even the blonde Ace head I like is very waxy and Ken doll.
4 -
At least he released with his head cosmetic 😂
(looks at Claudette)
3 -
I don't even wanna know what it's gonna look like. 😭
1 -
You can see what it looks like in the trailer, and personally speaking I think it might be for the best that it was left out 😅
2 -
Absolutely!
There's a je ne sais quoi missing from the descriptions these days. I used to always go through and read the little lore tidbits that came with new cosmetics but I rarely do these days. Only for characters I'm particularly invested in. Even then, they don't quite land the same, as you say. Although exactly what's off about them I'm not sure. The tone I think? They almost feel like they exist sort of as jusitifications for the gaudy cosmetics. It's like the developers are aware the concepts of some of these fits are getting a bit silly so they try and reel it back in with a gritty flavour text, but it doesn't quite work.
Like "Rin lost everything, and in her last moments she swore revenge on her murderous father" doesn't really feel tonally appropriate for a cosmetic where she's made of stained glass and has purple spikes everywhere lol. It's a little goofy.
It's still better than the era of this though I suppose🤣
3 -
The devs just don't care anymore. Well, neither do I. Bye, 💩 by Daylight.
6 -
"Without his armor he could be stabbed."
3 -
It's certainly one of the sentences of all time 🤣
2 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one that adlibs the title. Except mine aren't as nice. 😵
1 -
The ugliest and worst rift and its gonna last the longest
4 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 -
protesting this awful downslope this game has gone with my wallet. its the only way they'll notice.
