PTB Anti-Tunnel Changes That Are Good, and Should Be in the Game.
BHVR had some good ideas with the PTB anti-tunnel changes, but they also had a lot of bad ones. There is no need for BHVR to rework a bunch of the games perks and completely change how the game functions just for anti-tunnel QoL for example. However, by modifying some of their ideas, we can get a reasonable system.
These changes with the following modifications should have been enough to reduce the worst aspects of tunneling without completely changing the game or unfairly punishing killers:
- When a Survivor dies to a hook action or Mori before
6 total hook states4 total hook states, the remaining Survivors gain a 25% repair speed bonus. (Reduced the number of hook states required for activation)- (NEW) Disables after 3 generators are completed.
- When a Survivor that was previously hooked is Killed or Sacrificed, with the hook action directly resulting in them dying, the Killer loses the ability to block, damage, or regress generators by any means.
- (NEW) Disables after 3 survivors are hooked.
BHVR, you don't need to reinvent the wheel with highly controversial changes when you can just go with simple small QoL changes. Start small with changes like these, and then see if more action needs to be taken.
I really hope the anti-tunnel changes won't be another case of having to wait years now for any updates because BHVR tried to do too much all at once instead of simple solutions.

Absolutely, though I do wish we also had help for killers like they wanted to do. The gen kick buff they planned seemed interesting, but it not being passive slowdown (ie being a pop goes instead of a deadlock) made it really mostly help the already good killers that didn't need it.

Exactly! I have no idea why they thought Pop was the way to go for killer rewards. Passive help like Pain Res or Deadlock is definitely the way to go since it helps all killers equally unlike Pop like you mentioned. I'd be perfectly fine with either of those, but I'm against rewards like passive BBQ and changing the existing BBQ.
I feel like BHVR didn't really think through the implications the anti-tunnel changes would have. So much of it went way too far. I'm glad they waited on it but I also don't want them to wait 2 years to try it again which seems to be what they generally do.

You've nailed it exactly on the head. I don't understand why BHVR wastes development time on these sweeping, overwrought ideas when ones like yours are much easier to implement and smooth over the pain points they're trying to address.
