Why did you stop playing dbd as much?
I know a lot of people talk about how overly competitive dbd is. But out of all of the online multi-player games I've played, it's probably one of the least toxic, competitive games in my experience. The pvp and war players in New World Aeturnum make Dead By Daylight look like Monopoly Go by comparison. (And players in New World can switch on their mic whenever they want to and tell you off. They can also tell you off in the ingame chat that plays DURING the game.)
I think what makes dbd feel more toxic and more competitive than it really is is the simplicity of the game itself. There's killing and surviving in one particular scenario. And that's it. Unlike New World, there is no way to really avoid that highly competitive gameplay, so the competitive nature of dbd becomes unavoidable and relentless. I think that's why I mostly want to play dbd when a different game mode drops. I enjoy dbd, but it can get so monotonous to play.
I think when the devs created dbd, they envisioned it as a fun, spooky hide and go seek game. But somewhere along the way it got away from them and turned into Call of Duty with generators. I think the devs can't really "fix" dbd because in their mind it's still a casual, fun party game. Or at least they want it to be that. The simplicity of dbd, winning by killing or surviving, killer vs survivor, has created a completely different competitive game where people often feel frustrated, cheated, tired and angry. And sometimes I find myself gravitating to playing other things instead.

The s-tiers running rampant setting a precedent every killer should be their level of balance because BHVR won't fix them. If the likes of Unknown are the perfect balance of fun for both sides, why aren't we aiming for there?
Kaneki ruined the blood moon for me.
Now I'm worried Krasue is going to ruin the Halloween event.and when it's not those two, it's Blight normally also with the occasional nurse.
Now it's more probable than I get one of these killers and I'm just encouraged to slam gens and play a victim simulator, coz I play mainly on my own while I draw on the side, with friends also on evenings.
I just want more consistently fun games, if they won't get rid of the s-tiers, the hyper mobility is what is enabling tunneling to be so prevalent. the ability to catch up and anti loop whoever you want if you are remotely competent as those killers.
If that was fixed I'd play so much more, but the ignorance of that, not giving killers the incentives from the anti-tunnel (and discouraging tunneling), the go-next prevention flop, the recent rift being really bare bones, I just don't have much incentive to play.
Meanwhile on killer the anti-tunnel incentives were the kind of breathing room I needed to play more creatively with builds, the extra speed to leave the hook, bbq to see my next target, some gen regression if I needed it sounded a good place to start and work on it.
We just need more action, more quality of life like was promised, but we are still waiting and waiting.13 -
Just lack of enjoyment, i guess. I still play, because at least with killer if I get bored i simply play a different one. I don't really have it in me to play survivor for fun anymore. I generally let the survivor specific quests build up a bit and then I smash them out over an afternoon, but that's pretty much the extent of it for me.
6 -
It's never been my favorite game tbh. I tend to go in spurts of playing. I play until the game becomes more frustrating than fun then take a break. My longest break was two years.
4 -
Nothing really left for me.
I've pushed for better optimization, which fell on deaf ears. I've watched the company make the game more and more predatory in its monetization. @Orion was right to leave during the NFT debacle, but I had hope it was a one-off. It wasn't, that was the standard.
I've pushed my own gameplay to the absolute limit as Killer, but what's the point in being skilled if the role is being made easier? The challenging and inherently more difficult role got made into something you can do blindfolded.
Most of my friends who I used to spend hours playing with have quit. Getting one good game a session sucks. It feels like a huge waste of time, and they'd rather spend it doing something consistently fun instead of occasionally fun. Why would we spend 6 hours on DBD hoping for a good match, when we could just play BF6 and have a blast?
13 -
I've always been a play intensely for a week or two, take a break, then play intensely again type of player, primarily around events. I also tend to wait for promised updates, right now I'm waiting for the anti-tunnel, until then it will be occasional killer and the events.

I like this game but it can be hard at times and both sides can take you the fun.
If you play survivor and you get tunneld at five gens it feels kinda ######### but the worst thing in my opinion is a mate who dcs in the first moment something happens. I can understand that people dc against Ghoul or Karuse (I said understand not tollerate) but I won´t get people dcing over getting hit by a Deathslinger or getting stalked by a GhostFace.
As Killer its more the bugs for me.
I understand that the game isn´t perfect but if 3 Survivors are crouching in front of the hook to help the wiggling team mate out and the Game decides with auto aim that my target should be the hook I get frusttrated.

Timeline:
Mains hag playing her webs the right way, only camping basement sometimes= winning 80% of the time because survivors don't know how to deal with it
CoH gets released destroying hag web gameplay
Mains bubba for a while
Watches a hundred hours of otz and other gameplay = I am several times better at killer and already better than most killer players now(genuinely no ego as dumb as that sounds)
Mains neme and PH for months until I find lilith playing blight on haddonfield
Mains blight for a time
Every survivor running DH, IW, UB and CoH while I'm still being relatively new allows me to go all out without feeling bad or tunneling/camping.
Got bored of killer after 6.1.0. because I'm not mad at survivor builds anymore(I think?)
Survivors start trying to suicide sourcing me tunneling or camping when I haven't done either of those things since maining hag at least a year before, going out of my way to never chase a previously hooked survivor until they are healed for the most part. On top of that never going back to hook for a hit/trade.
Goes to learn survivor because it has an extremely high skill ceiling imo
Teamates give up in a winning position far too often.
Anything I do is irrelevant because my teamates can ruin anything I have accomplished with the communities support, AT A 30% RATE.
Realize a lesser player would just start ruining others games too, continuing the cycle.
Even with my want to get better at survivor and a friend who has wanted me to play survivor with him for a long time I can't stand losing due to my teamates giving up(especially when we are winning and they could still be safe).
My previously mained killer gets 1% of his power removed with the hug tech being deleted(survivors thought it was too hard to understand a blight shoving his face into something over .75 seconds and watching the floor for another .5 seconds is pretty easy to outplay), his collision being worse and his add-ons losing the title of best designed although far too OP, just to be still extremely strong relatively but boring as hell.
Play far less.
Can't want to master survivor because of the community and bubba, PH and neme are not fun enough to warrant repeat queueing.
Shouldn't have played the highest mastery killer so soon and shouldn't have expected even a 25% impact as survivor with a survivor stigma I already knew existed before picking up the role.
Play far less.
To be clear I never saw it as a party game until I joined the forum and saw people keep regurgitating that title. I joined in summer 2021 as a killer main and less than a week in every survivor was running hard meta for the most part. I started playing over 4 years ago and it has never been a party game in that time, people who think that way would have mained customs or swf, no other way to lead to that mentality at the time I joined.

Game focuses too much on FOMO, licenses and the battlepass. A lot of decisions indicate alot of(not all) the devs either rely on stats too much or don't even play their own game or both. Devs constantly make the same excuse over repeating the same very blatant problem where they seemingly ignore a lot of feedback. I personally feel like they don't necessarily ignore feedback but they hyper prioritize specific feedback.
This is also ignoring a lot of controversy where the devs occasionally say something out of pocket. I love when devs speak their mind and can even talk a little #########. I'm all for that as I think it can create a good bond from the devs and community when they can talk a little banter. I'm more referring to comments on stuff like accessibility support and then someone says something out of pocket and the devs prove that it's more so a priority issue than anything.
There's a lot of feedback that is widely supported and seemingly takes forever to be added to the game and there's a lot of common sense feedback I think a lot of us can agree on. It takes forever for anything to be addressed and I just feel this game has a lot of technical debt and a lot of new people working on the game to where each month the task of updating this game probably becomes too much for who ever is managing it and I feel like this game is about to quite literally explode at any given update.
I remember back in the day in 2016 when this game was only on PC and didn't need to validate on console and was owned by Starbreeze. BHVR would just send out updates every other week and it seemed to address things when needed. Now it feels like an entire diplomatic process they have to follow. There's a few active devs here I appreciate taking the time to comment even when people throw shade at them. That kind of perseverance and interaction is how you keep community trust up. I just wish both (Community / Devs) sides could really get down to this communication / feedback issue and I feel like everyone would be so much happier. Realistically I feel like the devs can never say what's going on or they'd get in trouble and I personally have grown tired of the same song and dance and the same excuse over and over when an update drops and it breaks the game or ruins balance.

It's when the game started to feel more like a PvE experience. I've watched autonomy in solo q diminish more and more over the years to the point where it just feels like a total waste of time. At least when the Rift had stuff I was interested in, I was motivated to do challenges. But now? Not interested in it. Even modifiers like 2v8 went from being a ton of fun to somehow feeling worse than the main game (in my opinion). It just feels like there's nothing worthwhile anymore.
4 -
I have few drawbacks.
- Plenty of bugs - starting with houndmaster, deathslinger, general game bugs (I got stuck in a locker for entire game 2-3 weeks ago)
- S-tiers are not being nerfed for a long time of people asking
- I don't enjoy new killers to play as and against - krasue, kaneki mostly
- After few good rifts we are getting worse and worse ones - I didn't like the ones with flower skins, this one is bad
- Tunneling, slugging and camping are very strong, especially against solo queue
- pokos hits behind the windows, after stun ruin things for me aswell
- A lot of killers have ability to hit you behind the windows, pallets now - I don't enjoy it
- DC pandemics, people throwing the match
- FOMO became more frequent, monetization the most important - paid skins are much higher quality than what we get for free (if we ever do) - look at dredge ghost skin
Also my friends stopped playing as much as they were before, mostly because it's not enjoyable much anymore.
Europe goes against blights, kanekis and other s-tiers all the time.4 -
100% this. I didn't even want 500 pallets on every map. Literally just do something about the S tier and arguably the borderline S tier killers and things would be fine. It's hilarious to me that Behavior's "solution" to over tuned killers was to make the game terrible for killers who aren't strong instead of just using the common sense approach. Even biased content creators like Otz agree that killers like Blight, Ghoul, etc should be toned down a bit. How they keep evading meaningful changes is beyond me. It would make balancing maps, perks, etc so much easier and better for the rest of the roster if you didn't have these extremely powerful killers messing it up.
5 -
How can krasue ruin the hallowen? Sorry but I think nobody plays her and if they nerf her to balanced a-tier or lower the the same kind of people which play her for her leathality and simplicity will go for other simular killer so nothing changes in core they just switch coat as they will always do.
What I hate about this patch is devs wanted to make her strong (she had lower bonuses in unique hook rewards like other strong killers like billy, blight, ghoul, nutse, dracula) and the rework mayers and give him so many cooldowns and restrictions for no valid reason the release go live from ptb krasue is buffed go be more stronger and essier and mayers slaughtering strikes is changed and its even worse than ptb version which is something I always hate about DBD balance double standart like ghoul toke loss when breaking palett but ignoring blight who can do the same and even better he is just little bit harder to play or now I found new exsample taking freddy the ability to pass bodyblocking survivors while holding his ability button but vecna can do the same and has more tools to deal with bodyblocks thats something i hate about DBD balance that they know if they want to fix the game they must make more global changes that are healty and balanced but cant have so huge gab between killers and they still creating that gab like what is their plan then it looks like left doesnt know whats right doing and vice versa.
-6 -
Surv toxicity and a long line of patches that have made playing my main (Nemesis) considerably unfun
-5 -
Can't say ive stopped playing. But one thing that did kinda ruin the game for me was one of my favorite licenses coming to the game, and then they managed to make only the characters i really wanted more than anything in the roster - into just cosplays (Shanoa / Simon Belmont). And if it were just a character i liked it woulda been like "cool i can cosplay as them" but no. They were my absolute favorites and the cosplays did not do them justice, or make me feel like i was playing as them. And at the end of it all I even felt betrayed, as it was the first license to make cosplays without atleast legendaries first, while the developers obvious favorite got put in as the first outfit collection. Now that those cosplays exist, and that they arent talked about by anyone, i will likely never get my favorite characters from that franchise in the game now and it has kind of ruined my mood towards the content in this game everytime i see those cosplays. It would have been a dream come true to finally see those 2 come back to life in a new game for the first time in many years.
Ive also noticed they aren't affraid to start doing the same with other licenses given the witcher collab, which was not a chapter but im sure someone out there was hoping for some of those cosplays to be legendaries.

I'd play survivor, get wrecked by the "usual suspects" then play against a baby killer and feel bad for them. Repeat.
Playing killer, similar story. I'd play a few games and get absolutely humbled then slaughter a bunch of survivors who panic the second they hear the terror radius. Repeat.
I haven't had a truly close game in a long time, it's just constant "stomp or be stomped" and that's exhausting, at least for me.
5 -
Yup. The most enjoyable games for me are the ones where it could go either way. Those games are sadly rare.
4 -
Ruin has become so strong that it is impossible to beat S-tier killers.
I only play killer now.

- I've been playing DBD regularly for 5 years. The only time I take a break is when a new game comes out that I want to try (most recently, Silent Hill F). I'll never understand those people who complain about everything all the time but keep playing... is it masochism? It's obvious that some things are "crazy" (think of the newly released Krasue), that there are bugs (all online games have them, even the richest and most famous ones), but I always find a reason to have fun. If DBD makes me angry one day (it happens every now and then)... I close DBD and do something else, it's that simple.🤣

kaneki, krasue, crap servers, vpn'ing killers, every game being s tiers, crap mmr ..

Comp dbd is the worst thing that happened in this game. It makes the games more frustrating, sweaty and boring.

Over the last few months I've definitely gone from playing dozens of games every night to getting on maybe twice a week to play a couple of games—if my friends aren't playing to party up with, then I rarely last more than 3 survivor games in Solo Queue, occasionally I play a handful of killer games, but nowhere near as many as when 2v8 was running. Truthfully, the only reason I've played at all this week was because I'm a diehard AOT fan and was really happy to see the skins come back.
There's a lot of reasons I've been playing less, which all have contributed to some degree.
- The AFK crow situation a few patches back really left a sour taste in my mouth as a player who relies on stealth more than aggressive chase gameplay.
- The inability to take my chances on hook when I'm very clearly being left for dead in solo queue also definitely isn't helping. It feels like another way in which survivor player autonomy and agency is being totally stripped away.
- As soon as the devs even mentioned that anti-tunnelling and anti-slugging measures were being tested on the PTB, there was a sharp uptake in both behaviours in my games that is still ongoing and making the game really unpleasant to borderline unplayable.
- The devs walking back several changes or additions that were predominantly benefitting survivor players basically immediately (the anti-tunnel, anti-slugging, fog vials, etc) really kind of destroyed any faith I had in any ongoing problems improving.
- TWD chapter being an absolute disaster. Not only the bugs, but also just…the Fallen Refuge map was such a slap in the face. I didn't even buy the chapter and I felt wronged by all of that, I cannot imagine how angry people who purchased those characters were with the bugs, the map, and the fact that almost immediately the new perks they got were either nerfed or kill switched.
- This Rift is an absolute disgrace and a cashgrab in every sense of the word. The price remaining the same meanwhile providing us with substantially less rewards, on top of the fact that one of only two free skins is such a bastardisation of the design we were promised? Appalling.
- The devs response to the outrage about this Rift is somehow even worse. "Sorry we're totally ***ing you over with this Rift, no we won't do anything to fix it. Maybe on the next one in four months."
- New Tome with no little quests? Terrible.
- Michael Myers was one of my favourite killers to go up against before his recent rework, even though I died against him more often than not. The rework, in my opinion, kind of took away everything that made him fun—and genuinely scary—to face as a survivor.
- While not directly part of the game, the general attitude I've seen from a lot of players on this forum in response to others—usually survivor mains—expressing their concerns and problems they're having with the game has definitely soured my opinion of the community and the game in general.
- The last one is petty and probably just a personal preference thing but I really goddamn hate Springtrap. Everything about him I dislike immensely. If I never saw that goddamn rabbit again, it would be too soon. The only thing he has going for him is the Matthew Lillard skin.
I probably missed some things in this absolute essay I just wrote but I've been thinking about this a lot. Mostly because I went from playing so much to playing very little, and as a lifelong horror fan and an academic who specialises in the horror genre, it makes me kinda sad.

Stop playing as much?
I've been back on that DBD grind like never before!0 -
I still play this game here and there, but the more matches I play as Killer, the more I want to switch playing Survivor instead.
I hate playing sweaty with S tier Killers using meta builds, but if I don't, I get taunted and mocked for playing M1 Killers, especially since they added so many pallets to most maps. It's extremely discouraging.
1 -
It's been a mix of recent crap patches and other games coming out that interest me more then DBD
I doubt I'll ever fully quit until the servers are shut down, since I still do have fun with it and have faith the game will turn itself around as it always does, but between Silksong, Hades 2, my recent reinterest in modded Minecraft, and BHVR making a string of recent bad decisions have just given me a feeling of "Why bother"
If the Halloween event's fun though, I'll definitely play more0 -
i used the play alot of dbd back in 2018 - 2020 but nowadays i only really play a few matches a month. elements from all my friends stopped playing so i 100% play solo q as survivor and more so killer as my usual preferred role. the game hasn't actually really changed at all in the span of 9 years. repair generators and escape, or chase survivors around a loop. after some time it gets boring as i know what ill get when i log on. MMR added so alot of the usual "unknown factor" like not knowing the killer you'd get, ranks etc are gone most of the killers you will face are top 4 killers, and same survivor perks. the maps have gotten pretty dull due to the realm beyond in my opinion. Overall there isn't really anything incentivizing me to come back really besides a new killer release but even those are getting kinda dull due to recycled powers. that's it really for me personally.

I just don't enjoy it as I use to and I don't even pay many other games.
- DBD is more stressful than the others i play.
- Toxic player base
- Lack of progres. 5 million or 8000 million it doesn't make a difference.
- Only thing there is to unlock are cosmetics which does nothing for you.
- 4 perks only with the game becoming more bloated.
HellDivers, Satisfactory, Sonic CWR, I find more chill and far more enjoyable.

This is my experience as well. I just want to be on an equal playing field. But I either feel like I'm massacring a playground or like I'm the child in the playground massacre. There's little inbetween.

Go to Eldenring,Go to BF6.

there is no ranked mode so after playing years of this game im just apathethic to it, just checking out some new changes once in few months

I've definitely scaled back how much DBD I play. The MMR system changes a few years back were a huge disappointment for me. Prioritizing queue times over anything else when creating a lobby was the start of a slow decline in the quality of this game. It made for matches where some survivors or killers were waaaaaaaay outside of their skill level… all to shave off a few minutes to start a match.
What happens in these matches are survivors are either outplayed by the killer, or the killer can't end chases and hook a survivor in a comfortable timeframe. This leads to people crying that the sky is falling, and that we need to implement x, y, and z changes to the game.
I honestly think BHVR could create an overall better player experience if they had a much tighter MMR system in place. I'd gladly wait an extra 5-10 minutes to start a match if it meant that the other players I was paired with or going against had a similar experience level with the game as I do.
But creating lobbies where some players have 500 hours in the game and others have 5,000 hours in the game… that's just going to lead to frustrations for everybody.
3 -
I have many reasons why I stopped playing.
1(the MMR sucks and its the main reason why players complain about stuff which i dont blame them one bit)
2(constantly complaining and demanding nerfs to builds and strategies so making it impossible to play as anything)
3(Unnecessary changes to Killers or even perks that never needed changes like Franklin's Demise)
4(Devs Never really listening to feedback on anything regardless on how much should know who gives them money)
5(bugs and Cheaters are ruining the game and I barely can enjoy the game)
6(players DCing in the middle of the match for simple reasons. Like going down when they lost the mind gaming)
7(constantly 4man DCs for most of the killers in the game like, Ghoul, Chucky and other new killer that releases. I feel like I wasted my money getting them at all because I cant play them at all)
8(stale contant. Just reused crap that gets slapped with a new color and called new. Its getting old fast)
Most the reasons of it is the devs feel like they lost care in dbd so why give feedback when they don't listen.
2 -
That's where most people find enjoyment in pvp games and them being extremely rare in this game is really sad. It's why I find end game matches where "every survivor gets out or no one does" so fun on either side. It's also why I'm not a fan of one shot killer's as they deter both sides from playing that scenarios out.
1 -
I know this is a slightly different take on the question but lately I find I still love DBD a ton but I've been finding prolonged playing has a weird effect on me. I find if I play too many matches in one session that it sours it somehow. I really don't know how to describe it but it just feels like I played for too long. I'm finding a 2-3 round session is perfect for me. Usually 2 killer and one survivor or 3 killer if I'm in the mood to play as certain characters.
1 -
In the context of dbd is otz really that biased though? He considers balanced killers high b low A. The only time he seems baised to me is when he's frustrated.
Even if we tone down S and high A killers down I have 0 faith bhvr will balance maps properly, they are already going into a higher pallet density, less safe mentality without realizing that's hurting lower tier killers more than anyone. Like genuinely other than nurse I don't think they are balancing for S tier killers period.
Even then they don't know how to properly nerf killers, blight got nerfed in the worst ways and is still too strong because of it and instead of reworking nurse straight up they just made her add-ons mid. They also don't understand the nuance of their own statistics that they are balancing around.
1 -
They really need to stop buffing/nerfing killers based on numbers and nerf/buff killers based on what the community says more. Trapper has over 60% in terms of killrate but he is tied with Shape,Merchant in being the worst in the game right now. If the tutorial was overhauled and taught new players how to properly counter trapper his kill rate would be in the dumps.
0 -
Absolutely. I hate bringing up league so much but their statistics are sound and public along with a ton of devs streaming their thoughts on balancing. DBD is the opposite, the statistics they share are poor, they rarely balance off of perceived power and real power of the killers that is so completely obvious. I'll give it to them, they do have to play around an odd game and a playbase that isn't very good at their own game or who play for fun or legally quit the game, that's rough to deal with. BUT, they have had a ton high level content creators posting the essentially the same tier list except for new additions for over half a decade.
We know nurse is too strong, they know nurse is too strong but they can excuse her because half of her play rate is people first timing her and giving up.
On a personal note as someone who intrinsically understood the killer, blight was busted for a long time. Instead of nerfing him down to A tier the right way they remove the hug tech because of a loud minority who didn't even try to understand it at all, changed all his add-ons in boring ways without taking out enough power and didn't touch his the forgiving part of his kit being rush duration and recharge time. They could have kept hug tech nerfed most of his greens and purples besides alch ring which did need a rework, and his iris that needed a rework. Instead they end up reworking most of his add-ons in boring ways several time including weak or unproblematic add-ons. Now even though I doubt he'll be nerfed, if he does it'll just mean he's weaker in the worst ways while only getting more boring gameplay and add-ons in compensation.
Other than that they may have the idea that some killer's are strictly for low mmr/beginners like trapper and keep him weak on purpose instead of soft reworking them, although I highly doubt they think that way in any regard and use kill rate to leave him in an abysmal state. Same with a ton of the older low B tier and lower killers. The reason I mentioned soft reworking is because I don't think many of the older low tier have the capacity to be buffed to low A tier which imo is the community standard for killer strength. Maybe they don't deem it worth the effort when the people who main those killers will continue to do so.

Matchmaking is way too broad and prioritizes speed over accuracy to an extreme degree, and you flip flop between meeting super high skilled opponents that obliterate you and meeting pretty average players that aren't much of a challenge. Cheaters are on the rise again both subtle and blatant, but there doesn't seem to be any plans to implement even the most basic of server side authentication to prevent the most blatant, obvious cheats that would be considered absolutely ridiculous in any other big multiplayer game. Because matchmaking is so unreliable, playing anything other than very strong killers feels hopeless because you may end up against a reasonably decent team and have a good match, or you may end up against extremely strong survivors and get obliterated.
Same goes for survivor. Some games it's clear we're a bunch of experienced survivors against a relatively new killer and they can barely get a few hooks before everyone is out, while other times matches are just hopeless and it's clear that you're outmatched from the very start, and if you want any fun at all you just have to accept "Yep, at least 3 or 4 people are dying this match for sure, but maybe we can get a couple gens done. Maybe 3 gens done, that'd be great" because there's no real hope of actually escaping, and that's not a fun feeling. And again, the constant flip flopping between easy and hard matches just makes it worse.
Playing seriously feels hopeless because I've ran into several blatant, and some very clear subtle cheaters, but of course without any form of replay system you can never tell so you're just left feeling like "But that didn't make any sense. In my several thousand hours, that just felt off, but I can't prove it". It sucks. And inbetween decent but extemely tough high level matches, you'll still be matched against average players and just crush them which feels pointless. Playing casually doesn't work not only because maps are extremely rough for many mid tier killers, but also because if you reach a certain MMR threshold you'll still be matchmade against the top players and cheaters anyway, even if you barely get hooks or kills against them.
Content is sparse and while they say it's to fix bugs, we've had some incredibly buggy, seemingly rushed releases regardless. It feels like the game is in a state of maintenance rather than growth or even stable improvement which is crazy to say when there's so much that could still be improved and BHVR is such a big company.
Of course I still love this game and there's no game out there that scratches the same itch, but there's just not too much to be excited about right now. I play a match or two every few days, but can't bring myself to play any more than that. It just isn't enjoyable enough of an experience to bother.

theres no incentive to actually play the game, especially in its current state
no p100 rewards, no devotion rewards, and with the removal of the tome challenges theres just nothing to work towards- which makes the game stale for me
1 -
I think it preys on people with unhealthy attachment styles. Another place I was active that ran things similarly openly targeted gambling addicts for a similar reason.
3 -
personal matters, i miss being able to play videogames for longer actually
1 -
As others have said the MMR flip flop feels awful both sides. They had tighter restrictions before but changed it because streamers who play the game for a job were taking too long to find people at their skill level, so they changed it and we all get thrown to the wolves.
The quest system change affected my playtime as well. With the Tomes I always hated how they make you throw the game for some challenges, but with the new quest system I sometimes just log on to finish dailies then play something else. Having a long session without something to work towards feels kinda bad once the weeklies are done, and the crazy numbers on milestones is too much and feels un achievable - which I did not manage to do last rift.
3 -
I largely stopped playing a little over a year ago.
Survivor: When nearly every game was someone rage quitting, because you could bypass the d/c penalty with hook suicide it just made trying to play out games pointless. The whole abandon system doesn't feel like it's really helped the issue either as people just keep asking for more ways to abandon.Killer: The role as a whole keeps getting weaker with useful perks being nerfed and basekit changes to the game. All so behavior can not nerf the strongest killers in the game who are much stronger than the rest of the cast. Games on killers I like to play either are stomps because matchmaking is a joke or you get the swf squad you can't do anything about since I don't play killers like Nurse or Blight. Felt like my own skill level didn't matter and the game stopped being enjoyable.
Then survivors are just so toxic whether they win or lose. Which was another reason games stopped being enjoyable.

Game's old and they haven't done the bare minimum to bring it up to modern standards (like proper controller settings).

I started playing back in 2018 and loved the game and would only play dbd. Then the downward spiral came maybe in 2020. It was when got a little to competitive and would get mad if I lost but then slowly stopped and just enjoyed the game then once cross-platform and the mmr system came then it became worse. Not that cross-platform was bad but the spiral showed up again around that time. Basically mmr being well mmr it would put me with players that either were way to out of my skill level(aka a killer that was way to hard for me to face) or survivors that were also same thing out of my skill level. After a while I slowly stopped playing dbd because MMR being annoying and also people ruining the game aka constant slugging and tunneling currently but also just to toxic for my own enjoyment. So I play off and on currently just wanting to enjoy the event but of course slugging and tunneling are present even in a event that shouldn't be taken seriously. I found other horror games that involve team work mostly Outlast Trials but dbd isn't what I remember it does suck I know BHVR said they were making a new matchmaking system that was in their words "controversial" I mean not everyone is going to like it and for those who basically tunnel and slug they'll realize that doesn't get them to far in the end. But anyways yeah dbd isn't the same anymore so I don't play it 24/7 instead your looking at maybe...3 or 2 days out of the week I'll play.

Well, after facing one Wesker and two Ghouls was enough for me to log off for the day.

The game just become so sweaty, and it’s so over bloated that the killers I play are just forgotten about and completely power creeped. And I play alone soloQ is the most miserable thing in gaming I haven’t played in months despite playing since release.

As the game has become genuinely unplayable unless you are playing with friends in either a SWF, custom match, or two Killers event. The game just overall sucks now. The lack of actual MMR makes my matches in SoloQ a complete miserable nightmare, Survivor is not the name it should be, more like prisoner victim. Mostly it's people who are playing like it's their first match or once in a while I get a 3man SWF that trolls the Killer and the Killer DC's, which is another thing, the majority of what little games are going in our favor, the Killers DC.
Then I play Killer and it's sweaty SWF's nonstop, even though everyone loves to state how apparently most Surv players aren't in a SWF, yet almost every match I play as Killer they are in a party, bringing all their meta perks, and bringing top tier items. Then when I do get a SoloQ match for Killer, the game is unsatisfying and feels like slaughtering lambs.
The game has outgrown the mechanics it was based upon and BHVR is uninterested in actually developing anything aside from paid DLC content.

Survivor is trash since 2022 and now Myers is dead to me too, barely any reason left for me to play these days.
I still play once in a blue moon/check what's new out of habit but it's not often.

SBMM & "Hockey" is why I play less. This should be priority number one to fix.

They aim for the short matches, so the result is that either side steamrolls the other. The game currently is basically a lobby waiting simulator, you almost wait as much as you play.
Fortunately, the free skins have dropped so much in quality that you no longer feel the urge to log in to complete the daily missions.
