Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Here is some feedback for one of your managers.

I stopped really caring a few weeks ago with the last PTB, but this won’t cost me much.
I know how companies work. It’s obvious that someone up there is just looking at raw numbers and complaint counts, with no understanding of the big picture or the fact that the game is asymmetric. Killing the project, collecting their check, and leaving the sinking ship: that’s what they do. But I digress.

This video popped up, and its reasoning matches mine exactly. So instead of wasting time explaining everything here only to be drowned out by the majority, I’ll just post the video and leave.

It explains why we already know the next PTB will be bad and why there’s no hope for the future.
This asymmetric game was a miracle. It had to fall sooner or later. All asymmetric games die for the same reasons.

Maybe we are all wrong. I don’t believe that, but I can accept the possibility.
Still, I know I’ll feel some schadenfreude when players start crying about queues and matches not happening anymore. But then it’ll probably be too late to go back.

And for the trolls out there: having no hope for this game isn’t a problem for me. I’ve got so many games I’ll probably never finish them all. I was just fond of this one for a while.

Signing of.

I've only watched for the first couple of minutes, admittedly.

That was still enough time to see that they have no idea what they are talking about, respectfully.

EDIT: Watched the rest, but I don't really feel that it needs a response. Whoever this is, doesn't really understand at all.

“I really don’t have enough information to form an educated opinion” should’ve been where this video stopped. While there are points I believe I can agree on, we need to remember THIS IS A TEST.

We have posts like this claiming no hope for the future when we haven’t even had a chance to play for ourselves yet. Are there changes that seem beneficial on paper? Yes. Are there changes that seem over-tuned or unnecessary on paper? Yes.

I get the worry, but can we give it a chance first? We can’t KNOW until we try.

That one dev didnt even told what is tunneling that they are against, what its it describtion of that tunneling just named two things and on second he sound that he wasnt even sure about it and third one he just said it exist but didnt name it.

So, I watched this video, and two things leapt out at me.

First, this person makes the argument that the anti-tunnel measures being discussed for the next PTB are a sledgehammer reaction to spreadsheet metrics, talking about survey results and such, but doesn't ever seem to acknowledge that tunnelling has been the game's biggest and most contentious problem basically since release, which seems like pretty vitally important context to me.

I mean, patch 6.1.0 was also a big swing towards addressing tunnelling, and that was pretty handily before BHVR started putting out the more consistent surveys, especially the ones specifically talking about tunnelling and why players leave, as far as I remember. This isn't a new problem and it's not new that BHVR are looking at fixing it, so trying to make out like it's a modern poison causing them to bury their nose in data seems suspect to me.

Second, the claim that BHVR are only ever looking at spreadsheet data seems suspect in general. It's not very well evidenced in this video, and it seems to ignore a lot of the more qualitative changes BHVR have made over the past few years, stuff like the survivor HUD and the killer FOV slider, not to mention the various killer changes that are very much responses to the feel of the killer rather than the raw numbers.

In fact, look at the way they talk about the slugging changes. They say outright that BHVR are only looking at the spreadsheet metrics showing player frustration and aren't paying attention to why killers slug, but… they are. They've talked about it at length. They've mentioned multiple times they want to make sure slugging situationally for pressure is maintained as an option and only aggressive slug-everyone strategies get weakened, that's the entire purpose of the proposed changes.

It's one thing to disagree with their reasoning and think it could be done better, but it's another to claim they don't have any reasoning at all regarding the whys of it. It feels a little disingenuous to me.

This is just proof that the devs do not actually play there own game.

Its obviously going to be only killer bots and only survivors playing the game. They say Tunneling is a problem but never digged in why Killers Tunnel.

The Changes only make Killers Tunnel harder or even just quit the game.

Most if the time the games Im in are just Gen Rush after Bully Squads and unfun games. I know its exaggerated on how much but it is most of my games.

If they want the game to thrive again then they need to Do QOL for both sides and not just focus on one side.
