Playing Optimally = You’re Evil??
As you can tell from the title and my profile picture I’m very against BHVR pushing this narrative that killers wanting to win games and complete their objective makes them bad people.
I understand they probably didn’t mean anything by what they said but all this does is give more people reason to hate and say ‘I told you so, the devs agree that slugging and tunneling are evil’.
Also I understand that Skull Merchant is the one receiving most of the changes in this patch but why….. why did you have to use her model for the graphics? She’s not even the face of the game??? Use trapper or something! Anything besides giving people reasons to send slurs and threats just because I enjoy the slighty edgy lady with drones.
We’re only in this mess because instead of giving time for people to learn and adapt we just threw our hands up and said we give up. I understand the hate for skull merchant was very loud and the data was not great, dc rates through the roof, people wanting her just plain removed from the game, but these people will never be happy, she the worst killer in the game right now and with these buffs she’s maybe C tier, but people will still complain and DC and say L killer player you’re evil.
So this is plead. Instead of trying to appeal to people who never be happy and just want everything given to them on a platter. Appeal to the people who will actually enjoy what is put out. I’m tired boss.
Kinda rant over if you’re a low tier killer player or just someone who wants to vent, feel free to do in the comments.

What is it that BHVR said to push the narrative that trying to win makes you a bad person…? I'm not sure I'm following.

It's very clear the devs hate Skull Merchant and her mains. You had the anniversary event loading scene where a dev made a comment about skull merchant that wasn't well received. She's being used to describe "evil killer behavior". And during the initial Skull Merchant rework previews they led off about how they weren't focused on making it a killer for her mains.

I´d say it´s quite the opposite. I mean, look at how many times they are willing to rework her and she´s not even lisenced. If anything it just shows that skull merchant mains are just a bunch of miserable people, always seeing the glass half empty.

- Well, Devs really put a lot of time into this killer. I don't think any other killer in the game has been modified/nerfed/reworked as much as she has. Except for a very few people, no one really likes her. It was a failure in every way. Aesthetics (a sexy woman with a glitter mask), lore (a girl who becomes a financial genius after reading manuals, gets rich, emulates a manga, and kills her business rivals...LOL), gameplay, a truly a disaster.

As otz said in one of his videos (its like month or two old)something like "if survivors hate you as killer you are doing well as killer" which is kinda true but they will hate you even if you stay in corner and wont chase them or ignore them and fucus on injured person you are chasing for some time when they try to get your atention whle being healty or fresh hook on 1 gen left etc. no matter what you will do there will someone still hate you and mock you which is sad but cruel reality we live in and nothing will change that.
For merchant I believe if they dont want to invest resources into her now best option is massive buffs to current version (not the few super low buffs with stealth nerf they are suggesting) or bring her second version back but its hard because her mains want something (more of what she was and not drone homecoming missile killer) and survivors (bigger chest drone throwing or dash killer) want something different so they dont want to do her rework to change it again like ptb twins and have something more like now mayers rework that is just two changes and I believe they wont push live slaughtering strike with mause sensitivity turn rate but that limit whats there will stay and he will be ok.

To be frank, I'd want her removed from the game not merely because of the immense damage she has caused, but because her lore is, quite frankly, some of the most insufferable writing I have ever encountered. A manga wannabe who tries too hard to appear edgy feels completely out of place in a horror-themed game. At least killers like the Trickster have lore that is coherent and decently written.
Truly, by all accounts, she stands as the greatest failure in the game’s history, one best left forgotten and certainly not worth investing further resources into.

I love her.
I’ve loved everything about her since her release.
As a woman, I really admire strong female characters.
That’s why I get so tired of seeing all the hate toward SM in threads like these.
She’s criticized far more harshly than other characters—people even attack aspects of her identity that have nothing to do with gameplay.And then people say things like, “It’s only natural she’s kill-switched because even the devs don’t love her.”
After Chess Merchant was removed, SM 2.0 was judged unfairly, purely out of hate.
Now she’s been kill-switched for a whole year, and even the recent adjustments had no real impact.1
