Kill Switch update: Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

In the October community stream they mentioned Chaos being a core principle to the game

And used that as reasoning to remove various parts of the anti-tunnel system they're working on.

Fair enough, but they didn't need to say that.

If Chaos is important, which I think we know it is.

Where is the Chaos in playing against a coordinated 4 man SWF?

Imagine you're a killer using undetectable, what's the use in that when the team is constantly making callouts for your position on the map?

Imagine you're running a perk that only gets value one time because the moment a single person on the team knows about it they all know about it.

If Chaos really is a guiding principle, imagine if there was consistency.

There's a practical reason they can't do anything about voice comms and that's because they can't actually do anything about voice comms. They have no way of knowing if someone is coordinating via voice.

I'm sure if they could then they would discourage it (at least back in the beginning) but there's no practical way of doing that. It's like turning on your monitor's crosshair - it's not encouraged but how could anyone possibly prove someone did it.

so the devs want chaos which comms negate, they know that cant stop comms but still pushing for chaos? i think there is where the issue of the game is…. the devs pushing for an unattainable goal while acknowledging its unattainable. maybe it would be best if they just not go with the chaos thing?

It's a poor excuse, in my opinion, after years of trying to limit random events in-game. I think they just didn't want to commit to what they said they would and quickly put the brakes on it.

I'm not them so I can't speak for what they definitely meant but my personal interpretation of what they were getting at wasn't that they want all aspects of the game to be completely random and chaotic. They just want some level of randomization and dynamicism in some aspects of the game so it doesn't play like a flow chart or state machine where there's only one correct answer and everything else just loses you the match.

It feels like they want everyone to play in one specific way and how they want them to. Every alternative play style or strategy is slowly removed. This runs counter intuitive to a design philosophy of "chaos". Most all changes they've made over the years have run contradictory to this philosophy. It makes matches more and more stale.
