Basement Trapper is dead
One of the strengths Trapper had was when he hooked a Survivor in basement he could go up and trap the upstairs however now with the Anti-Camp Changes Trapper can no longer trap the upstairs before the Survivor can self Unhook.

Thats a good thing. This strategy was very powerful and pretty much a death sentence once you were hooked down there

Yeah but it was one of the few things trapper was good at... now hes just borderline unusable...

when trapper gets nerfed while nurse and blight remain top tier theres something wrong lol

That shows that he himself needs a buff and a nerf to certain playstyles, not an outcry for unfair playstyles

Am I gonna stay crazy, but am I only person who loves idea of basement… and saves?
Personally, I never played it like myself — because I don’t play instadown killers beside Billy (and he doesn’t need it), and Trapper/Hag
Yet as survivor… it’s actually not that bad? It just makes a feeling team have to play as team and rescue and escape actually becomes something like a whole another game sequence. Like you have to rescue princess (sorry for cringe example) or be a princess yourself.I like Trapper’s personally more because it’s not instadown as Leatherface’s, so it’s actually playable. I like idea of basement have high reward high risk.
Finally, if you want to avoid basement trapper, avoid basement and area around itself
If only BHVR made more tools to play around it and more complex. I just love the idea of hook rescuing being an equal part of survivor objective and not generators only, while in current game it treats more like tool for killer and transitional stage for survivors rather than advanced engaging mechanic

No it wasn't a death sentence. Your teammates could still get you with a little brainpower and caution. This game dude... its doomed....

No it wasn't. Trapper could easily lock down the basement with double disarm or even blood coil. Either way, once he returns to the hook after getting the notif, he'll just trap again and you're now stuck in shack.

In game design sometimes there are mechanics or strategies that prevent better more meaningful changes from being designed into the game. By trapper's design you can't reasonably buff him, as in buffs would just make his camping more effective. If camping if off the menu, then you can buff trapper without having the worry about a bunch of people queueing up mcmillian to pitch tents.

How long are you taking to set traps, because it is sounding excessive.

Trapper isn't getting buffs anytime soon. It took BHVR a year to give us pity Skull Merchant buffs after they gutted her. Trickster is also still stuck waiting for a rework and it's been 2 years.
People are simply tired of devs making changes that nerf aspects of the game knowing it's going to be years waiting for the eventual buffs.

Leave the hook, problem solved for trapper and come back when someone is near the hook I guess, I don't see it being any weaker, that's the point of a trap no?

Not every killer is Trapper though.

It takes Survivors 20 seconds to unhook themselves now. By the time it takes to set a trap or two Survivor is already self unhooked.

Yes in my 5K hours playing DBD I haven't played Trapper. Clearly, even though the changes complained about in this post are not even Live I mistakenly underestimated the amount of time it requires to trap the entire basement. My mistake was clearly that it takes half the hook timer to fully setup and defend the basement.
Maybe just maybe I don't play Trapper like a castle defence game. Where I stake the entire outcome of the match on getting one survivor in the basement and hope survivor empathy catches the other three.

Ok, so why are the other killers hovering that close around shack after basement hooking if not to camp? The only killers who have any reason to remain there temporarily beyond camp purposes are Trapper and to a lesser extent Hag (since her trap placement is faster).
Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, Trapper and Hag are just camping at a distance. So not even beyond camp purposes - everything is just camp purposes.
