Pinhead's new original pain
Im really sorry, but someone has to point this out.
Is this the extend of our creativity?
Are we ok with this?

its not very creative but it seems decently strong, no?

Where have you been? This IS them using their max potential. It must be so lax up at there.

Im not sure im a friend of having that much aura read, potentially even more with lethal pursuer, on a power with a ~3-4 second cooldown.

The funny part is I think in most cases the new Original Pain is better than Greasy Black Lens, too. It lasts longer, and gives you the aura when you actually need it. When you first chain the survivor you already know where they are because you just had a first person view of them when controlling the chain, so the immediate aura read there from Greasy Black Lens isn't worth as much as getting a longer aura read a second or so later with Original Pain when they have had time to move a little. The only exception I can think of would be with Engineer's Fang specifically, Greasy Black Lens would be better (as Original Pain would never activate in that scenario).
Anyways yeah, one of those addons should be changed to do something else, they are way too similar and shouldn't both exist together

dont get me wrong, it seems stupid to have basically perm aura reading on a survivor, but to me only really the iridescent addons have been "unique" the rest are mostly flavor text and general stats. and debuffs.
tho I do perma run object of obsession

Just make Original Pain Sloppy Butcher if you hit a survivor who was bound. Does essentially the same thing without being as cheesy or broken.

Breaks free is important condition.
Cenobite M1 killer. The only possible advantage killer can get if survivor in construction and killer behind it. So TL/4wall probably.
Yet it will bring benefits only if survivor can’t checkspot killer. And don’t have pallet just to drop.
Since chain is breaked, no mindgames even. This add-on objectively bad0 -
That works, or it could just be with the current trigger condition of breaking free from a chain while injured, either would be fine

I mean, we have bff's on legion, trapper sack, scarred hand on hag, scratched mirror and Jenners / Campbells last breath on nurse. I think purple addons can be a bit more creative.

I would've preferred something that either makes breaking the chains harder/take longer, even if just by 0.25 seconds, or increases the hindered effect while chained if done so at more than 10 meters away to allow Pinhead a better chance to catch up when chaining a survivor from further away tbh.
However, Full aura tracking on a target that escapes the chains is not bad, pairing it with the Greasy Black Lens means full aura tracking for every part of getting a successful chain hit. Add Lethal, and you've got 8 seconds aura reveal when hit + 10 seconds after they break free, so, that's actually pretty decent. Not what I wanted, but not a terrible change.

My post is less about the strenght of the addon. Its undeniably good.
Its just incredibly … you know, similar to another addon. Makes you think how long it took to come up with the idea.
I like addons doing different things.

One of the issues with not adhering to your own design philosophy is that you need to fit things into place rather than having them fit naturally. After seeing so many failed attempts at what should be fairly simple effects/mechanics and the proliferation of dashslop, I'm convinced they might have internally realized they aren't prepared to handle creative and unique effects in ways that don't break the game (to their defense, this is just as much about limitations as it is about problem solving, so the end user will never truly know.) If thats actually the case, this failed health/QoL initiative actually looks even more dire.
They're leaning on homogenization more than normalization, making things the same rather than making them distinct yet equally viable. Its entirely antithesis to what the community actually wants: More variety in more facets of the game while maintaining a reasonable variable of fairness between both roles. Its also ironically a big part of why people generally want shakeups, they want more options, both to play and to play against, to give more variety to their gameplay. Not necessarily just different ones, but most importantly more variety. If time set aside specifically to fix foundational issues and even "QoL" are both squandered and don't please anyone while wasting resources, what hope does improvement have on the backburner to the usual resumed content schedule?
I don't mean this in the general way doomposting gets used around here. BHVR has every possibility to fix every single one of these concerns to some degree and I sincerely hope they do, but unfortunately until then things like taking "safe" options (even when essentially redundant) will probably be their focus before anything that can (and often will) have unforeseen consequences that break the game when trying to cram it in place.

I would have been less insulted if they just deleted the addon and didn't give me any hope whatsoever for an original replacement
