With so many survivors leaving the game, what would bring you back?

iv played for 8 years on and off with my friends. We now don’t play anymore, due to the games state. What would bring you back?

I think more killers are leaving the game than survivors. It's become so extremely unfun to play as killer.

Maybe revert all of the gameplay mechanics and systems they've done over the past year (minus the actual content updates, i.e. characters, cosmetics, etc.).

Blight's old Alchemist's Ring + insta-down, Nurse's range + recharge add-ons were fun too. I don’t get the fun in pressing two buttons, but oh well.

If we are talking about anything, regardless of how busted it was, I would probably remove the last couple of nerfs to DH. No DH for distance, but I'd get rid of the hook requirement. It was a very strong perk (still is), but it feels like the last nerfs it received ushered in the current gen meta. Where survivors try to avoid engaging with the killer and just focus on gens instead.

The game feels more interesting when survivors are prepared to take risks, and nowadays it feels like survivors are focused on playing it safe. and just hammering gens. The game is more balanced now, but it feels less interactive than it did.

I play both sides, but I've definitely stopped playing as much as before. The only thing that would make me come back is a Terrifier chapter adding Art the clown.

I am in Germany and almost exclusively play in the evenings. My killer queue is usually a few seconds while my Survivor queue is multiple minutes.

It feels like they're running different games for each region. Playing Killer on the Canadian server means waiting five minutes before a match starts, only for half the Survivors to get annoyed by something and disconnect. Playing Killer on the Asian server means finding a lobby in five seconds, but you're constantly matched with aggressive Survivors who use DH, OtR, and DS offensively every single game.

The survivor experience isn't great and it's been relatively the same since the beginning. The tunneling, slugging and camping is obviously a big factor but also just the gameplay. I think everyone agrees that the chases are the most interesting part of the game, but a lot of the match is just survivors on a gen holding down one button or on a hook waiting… not very engaging in the long run and especially when those things are prolonged because of things like tunneling, slugging and camping or with perks destroying generator progress (Which is of course are often necessary perks but obviously that means survivors need to spend even longer just doing a gen.

But idk what could realistically rectify this, it's just inherent with how the gameplay has been set up. I enjoyed the aspect of texas chainsaw massacre that you could attempt to escape using different types of exits, but that probably only works in a 3v4 and not a 1v4 as that seems like a lot for one person to manage. Survivors just need something, anything, that is engaging. Perhaps the game should be more centered around survivor and killer interaction rather than do gen and get out.

Also perks contribute a lot to enjoyment of the game. They're meant to allow you to have more fun options in gameplay but survivors are stuck with perks that help with tunneling, or slugging, or camping if they realistically want to escape their matches as much as possible/not have a miserable time. Same with killer having to run gen perks to keep up with survivors doing gens too fast. We're all just running perks so that we can win rather than whats fun or interesting or that we enjoy because of how the game has been set up. These perks are just bandaids for the problems in the game that haven't been fixed.

My most honest answer, if BHVR were to dangle in front of me any shiny new content that's on my wishlist, then I will come back to playing Survivor once again. If we get Robin with the upcoming Stranger Things 2 chapter, I won't really care too much about the state of my Solo Q games (at least for a while until the usual frustrations begin to bite again).

If they were to revert the Fog Vial nerfs and/or give us a slither of a crumb of an atom of the anti-tunnel and anti-slugging systems they developed, that would probably get me to return to playing Survivor as well.

But since we've all been lead to believe that Killers would quit the game en masse if some kind of functional anti-tunnel/anti-slugging system was added to prevent trials from becoming a boring mopping up operation after an early tunnel out, that ain't gonna happen any time soon. So yeah, I'm not likely to be a Survivor main for the foreseeable.

Its the Map showchase. Most of the players go there to explore the new map. Im sure its going to go back to normal after the Show cases are done.

So do we actually have proof survivors are leaving on mass? Because at least queue times don't reflect this saying going around where "survivors are leaving"

Where are you seeing any evidence of “so many survivors leaving the game”, others than a few complaints on a forum? Every night I’ve played recently, I’ve had around 5 minute queues for survivors, while my killer queues have been instant. Sure doesn’t seem like survivor players are leaving from what I can see with queue times.

just ask Ai, it said more survivors are leaving to me. Plus I was going off my experience and of people I know too who don’t play anymore.. my friends list used to be booming now no one is ever online.

When are you seeing long killer times and what region are you in? I’m in US and every night I’ve played recently, my killer queue times have been instant while my survivor queues have been around 5 minutes. I don’t get to play during the daytime very often, but I’m sure killer queues are longer during the day. That’s nothing new though - it’s been that way for years because there are fewer survivors playing with friends during the day.

I would love to see anyone upvoting this show evidence of abnormally long killer queue times outside of the daytime when historical killer queues have always been long. There’s just no evidence of the preferred narrative of some survivor-only players that people are leaving the game in droves because they don’t like playing survivor.

I'm on a extended break but i would come back to the game quicker if they just fixed all the bugs for both killer and survivor role's. But being realistic its unlikely that even 25% of the problems will be fixed by next March.

Most people I know have dropped killer more than survivor.

Lowkey they straight up just need to chill out on new content and actually fix the ENDLESS bugs and focus on their older content, we should never have bugs that exist for more than 2-3 major patches and we have some that have been around for literal years

I want this game to feel enjoyable again, and I don’t want booting the game up to feel like penance

I wasn't sure if it was true that Survivor Queue takes longer during North American server nighttime hours, so I tried playing via VPN at a different time than usual. Sure enough, it took 7 or 8 minutes. And that was solo. After waiting this long for the game to start, it's truly incomprehensible that someone always disconnects and leaves right away.

I always get confused of these mass exodus an game is dying posts.

Both sides are spreading them and its always these arguments which are contradicting each other.

    Example:

All X mains leave the game because BHVR listens to the other side which is crying louder.

But… your side leaves so… you are on the side which is crying louder? Because the other side seems fine because they are playing.

That'd be dope, but I think Art relies way too much in gore, idk how BHVR would make justice to the character without backlash. But I'd buy him 100%.

My killer que isn't long. About 90% kill rate killer on most. 100% the game is not fun for either side right now but in my opinion caters much more to survivors. Id rather have the return of 2 shack windows as opposed to the incredible amount of 2nd chance and gen rushing perks given out now.

Armsrace made this game way to fast paced like a game for speedrunners.

    Efficenty at all cost.

Got hit by the second pallet this game? Better start a new round.

Got found in an unlucky spot? Better start a new round.

There is no room for much skill show off. Make one great play and it is most likely that the other side gets stomped.

neither survivors nor killers seem to be leaving the game so you can stop that fallacy unless you got proof

And the game is in a good state for both survivor and killer even though there’s so many complaints, usually about the tunneling/camping/slugging boogeyman

A few changes here and there on the most pressing issues and it’s really fine. That’s my opinion and I know many will disagree with it but for me this game has only been getting better and better overtime

    • The game isn't dying, but it's true that management this year has been disastrous. DBD will be in full health whether I leave or you leave. Player patience has a limit, and BHVR is exceeding it.

I've been playing since late 2017, and this year has seen my least amount of hrs put into DBD. I know for a fact if they were able to bring in the IT Chapter (Been waiting since 2017) that I would be running to log in.

You were hindered while the Clown was under haste and already well within lunge range. What did you think would happen?
