This game is going to die not by balance or bugs but because of cheaters
I don't know why exactly cheaters are now suddenly coming out like weeds sprouting between cravices but the matchmaking has been incredibly abysmal as of late. This is happening across almost all of my games from fly hacking to speedhacking to heal hacking.
I had this cheating Dwight once forcing me to crouch, unable to move. I was stuck there until I disconnect neither the end game timer could stop me from dying.
Then the next match was a cheating Hillbilly who speedran everybody and caused us a grade reduction and it gave me a 15 minutes matchmaking penalty for being 'AFK'.
Your systems needs to be shutdown until you actually do something about the cheating problem. It's hurting innocent players.

Cheaters are currently running rampant again. I just had a game where two people with almost identical names were acting suspiciously. They were strangely fast, regularly disappeared without a trace, and after I killed them both, the game suddenly crashed.
I just can't understand how a game like DBD, which is run by people who only have to worry about a single game and have over 1,000 employees, is still unable to keep cheaters in check. The worst part is that I can't even say for sure whether someone is cheating or not. There are so many different perks that I don't even know them all, the game is full of bugs, and cheating is rarely obvious. Being constantly suspicious is not a good vibe for a game.

I’m not sure, but after watching one video, person was claiming that something broke with 9.3.0 patch and AC was brought to the state of one-two year old quality.
Meaning some players can abuse weakness that was resolved years ago again. I’m on my rest from this game, so not sure how actually trustful this information is. Even not sure is it some seasonal rant on cheaters or they actually became more active.
For some reasons, you tube occasionally recommend me videos of players who use them. It's few weeks old channels that gain a lot of views within days. I was impressed seeing that some 2 days old video for around 7k views with advertising this joke. Pretty sure they were banned soon, but how many people used this video for finding a new toy to exploit?
Even twitch became more lazy in terms of moderation of such players. Or they simply don’t have time to react…

I think this information is true. If you search for 'dbd cheaters' this week on YT you find a bunch of those losers ruining other peoples games and advertising hacking tools.

I can confirm cheaters are running more rampant. I just had this lovely experience this morning...
And I had this same hacker this past weekend. It was so disappointing to see this person again after I had reported them last time...

Cheating is very common in this game because there is no real protection. If they keep it subtle, they are perfectly safe. As a survivor, a bit of gen-repair boosting here and there; as a killer, a brief wall hack (very common on the killer side, since you can always search nearby and call it “gut feeling”)

BHVR has been able to get away with ineffective anti-cheat because the player count has been historically high. They would simply be spending a lot of resources for minimal to no revenue benefit. They won’t do anything unless they are forced to with a significant drop in player count/revenue.
I haven’t seen an obvious cheater in a long time, but subtle cheaters are fairly common. I don’t bother reporting anymore because it’s a huge consumption of time to report and usually gets no response from BHVR.

No, this game is not going to die while there is no competition on the market. This playerbase has endured worse things in the past, because players don't have any choice: there is no other game like this that is alive. How many cheaters do you need to encounter in order to uninstall for at least a year? Not to complain in anger, but to actually quit playing?

Things like the go next prevention should never of been added to the game when people are still facing hackers commonly that are able to give the go next prevention penalty like op got.
there is a hack I haven't personally got but seen a lot of people get since last update, just killer killing everyone in a few seconds not even having to move they do that because they know survivors will get penalized.1 -
Cheaters and hackers must be dependent on region I guess? Im in NA. I rarely see them…Once every 2 or 3 months? Give or take.

I've seen a total of 3 blatant cheaters. All survivors. I've had some suspiciously keen killers and fast repairers/healers/runners, but i never feel sure, and overall I don't think I get many at all. Crazy how some people encounter them multiple games in a session, or the same ones more than once.

if the normal gameplay is already screwed, i doubt ill be bothered by someone doing some quirky ######### ill just be afk for or i can afford to dc against.
which is also be minimized by just buying the full ######### anti-cheat.
(yes, they dont have full anti-cheat within their game that they force you to always use within the game's files)0 -
while i agree cheating is an issue, shouldnt be happening and needs to stop…. its interesting that people are not saying "we need to find out why people are cheating so we can address the issue".
This take has been thrown about regarding DCing and go next… "we need to address why people are going next and DCing, not give penalties for it".
lack of anti cheat = cheaters run rampant. lack of DC penalty = people DC and go next.

I'd be curious to hear your take. What are your ideas for reasons people cheat? Particularly in cases like mine.
As for my take? There is literally no reason to cheat. Absolutely none.

much like you, i think there is no valid reason to cheat. just like i think there is no valid reason to DC or go next. But there are some that claim that DCing and go next is a result of knowing whats to come (tunneling, slugging whatever else these people find boring). so first time downed = DC. The logic thats been used by others has been to not address the DCing by punishing the offenders but by looking into the reason why they do it. This logic can be applied to cheating too…. maybe people cheat because they feel the game is unbalanced and they want to tip the scales in their favour? maybe they know they will get steamrolled if they dont cheat? maybe they get fed up with loops, doing gens, being tunneled, tunneling themselves so they cheat instead, essentially taking matters into their own hands.
Just to clarify, i dont believe there is any justification for cheating no matter what the excuse may be. My view is exactly the same as DCing….no excuse for it and harsher measures are needed to stop it imo. i just thought i would highlight that neither issues can be solved by addressing the why or the reasons for people doing it.

The thing is I think cheaters were omipresent but just subtle.
As some of you will know the rare times I play Killer I play as Clown.
When the "buff" with the yellow bottles dropped I played some games and to be fair I have never face so many cheaters before which felt in the right to cheat because speedy clown was unfun.
Cheats like insta heals mid chase, Survivors which were somehow still faster than me or window vaults which felt faster than finesse and stuff like this.
I am no pro Killer but even I can see that if Clown takes 5 seconds to catch up when the chase starts it gets really confusing if you need 20+ seconds until you are barely in range to hit in a straight line.
What I want to say is the following. I don´t know why so many cheaters are deciding now to show themselfs but I think they have always been around subtle.

If it was going to die of hackers and cheaters it would have a long time ago…Still no excuse for them to not crack down on this. Its really awful to deal with for sure.

Just had a match as Dracula where an Ace knew exactly where I am behind a wall, and no matter what kind of mindgame fakes I did with Wolf Form, he always made the right choice. I couldn't even initiate the chase with because no line of sight LOL.
But on other moments this Ace ran into walls for no particular reasons against me, who looks extremely newbie.
After match he had SINGLE Hyperfocus with 1234, and that's why match gens were done with extreme efficiency. And he hid his name as well.
Easy report, and let's see if he got banned later.
Honestly subtle cheats like this are extremely common, and you might not even know it if the player is any good in hiding it.

This is a big problem I face so often myself only on the other side because i mostly play Survivor.
From time to time I see the Killer mirroring my exact movements and my first reaction is "Well he must wallhacking" but the thing is it still could be possible that he is moving exact this way without wallhacks, by skill or comeplte randomness.
A friend of mine gets reported regulary because he uses hyperfocus and most of the time hits the skill checks. (some people are just that cracked in the reaction time) But he gets called hacker.
It is hard so see the subtle cheaters and BHVR needs to do something against them or every missplay can be blamed on cheats of the other side. Lost chase? Must have teleported. Can´t hook? Must be sabo cheat and not the survivor crouching behind me. and so on you get the drill.

Cheaters have always happened in cycles. A new hack comes out, a wave of cheaters come in, the hack gets patched, the devs do a mass ban, things seem normal again until a new hack bypasses the system yet again. Rinse and repeat.

Even good survivors have to watch and react to Killer's movement, and they're bound to make mistake.
But not for this guy. I can tell every single time he moved exactly the opposite of where I'm heading, and I can't even see the backside of him unless I brute-force the loop 3 circles. Then, he ran into the walls for no reason, and that's how I actually got him.
An extremely good survivor who can predict every single moves of killer won't ran into walls. And add to the fact he hide his name, it's really suspicious.

All those suspicions could easily be confirmed or denied by reviewing a demo of the game. Too bad we lost the technology of 1990s and can't record demos in a multiplayer game anymore. Basic server validation, which could make most of the hacks completely impossible forever, is also lost somewhere there.

yeah its rampant since the last update, the begining of the winter events. Just before choy made his video i was thinking theres alot more suspicious stuff going on. then after his video its like it triggered alot of people to go out and get cheats. YA KILLIN ME BHVR!!!! please consider TPM 2.0

I would like to add i've met TONS of subtle cheaters even thought i barely started playing this game since June 2025.I've met also in total around 4 blatant cheaters (teleporting & going under the map) and around ~50 subtle cheaters (speeding mid chase, tp behind walls, esp, etc.)
I already got like 6 cheaters banned and that's still just a drop of water in the ocean.
The game is completely client-sided therefore cheaters can do whatever they want and the crappy Easy-Anticheat has absolutely no idea what the client does wrong and it cannot see the difference between a normal survivors VS perma 8% (legit speed) cheater just always being completely uncatchable and there is far more.
I had 2 really weird situations this week.
First it was some Bill that made my game freeze for 15 secs and i couldn't move or anything and he got hatch and said 'ez'
I'm 99% confident he could do that with cheats because i am VERY aware this is possible however there is minimum chance of lag so i'll keep this as it is and yes i reported him anyway.
And the secound weird situation i've played against 2 subtle cheaters it was Lara and Cheryl (anonymous)
And funny enough when i was about to down the Cheryl she just disconnected me from the match, it said like internet connection or something but when i checked it it was perfectly fine and i've played like 15 games before and i never even lagged so that is completely impossible.
I did not get penalty but it was like my game froze for 15 secs and i just got disconnected with a really weird delay i feel like that was a cheater.
This month alone i've met like 10 subtle cheaters that is just WILD.
