When are we going to see changes on the survivor side?
survivor lately has been no fun at all. You get tunnelers right off the rip at 5 gens - you get slugged for the 4k (still in 2025) killers complained about the anti tunnel update and now the tunneling is even worse now. Myers can tier up in no time- leading to instant downs and giving us nothing to work with. Survivors aren’t having fun and many are leaving the game. What happened to actually listening to your player base? Look at dbd players on stream charts- close to 9k have left the game. Idk about you all but as a company you want to keep as many clients/players as you can. But seems like killers only get the upper hand which they should to a certain extent. If you don’t want to update the game can we just get rid of these toxic players tunneling on purpose for no reason? Slugging for the 4k? Maybe you need to bring back hatch opening when there are two left. We really need some QOL changes on the survivor side. Takes more survivors to start a match than it does killers. Queue times right now are horrendous as well…..

The player count is fine and survivor role is fine too. I play solo queue and have no trouble escaping fairly regularly. The survivors I play against as killer seem to be doing fine too. I have to work pretty hard to have chance to win in most of my killer matches.
The player count always goes down in the months after new chapter releases, and there hasn’t been any new major content recently. So the player count means nothing. Where is your data to show that survivors are leaving the game? My evening time survivors queues have been getting longer and longer recently, so that would indicate an increasing deficit of killer players, not survivor players. I’d honestly be fine if some survivor players left because with the queue times right now if I don’t want to wait a long time to play, I have to choose the killer role every time.-8 -
ye survivor isnt that bad. the main issue with soloq survivor are the survivors themselves. as a soloq player its way more common to encounter a toxic team mate that throws the match or somone that goes next or DC's or afk from the start. And thats before we get into the personal challenges people might have like cleanse 5 totems so they refuse to touch gens or the people that only join the match to get chased and refuse to touch gens.
as soloq survivor these are the main issues not op killers or slugging or tunneling or camping. If anyone has any idea how to force players to actually play the game and do gens i would love to hear it but you cant make people do gens and play out a match that they dont want to do.

They need to announce their intentions regarding anti-tunnel (is it abandoned or will there be a v3?) and the Ghoul at the community stream on the 18th. Because my desire to play is hanging by a thread and I need a glimmer of hope that the devs aren't completely asleep at the wheel.

I still find it funny that fog vials got instantly butchered and we still know nothing about anything being fixed with them even at release they were still weak compared to other survivor items but BHVR seems deadset to screw survivor players over, at first I didn't think it was like that but it happens over and over again it's actually confirming that's what it is lol.

I think the matchmaking changes are the next planned update

I agree the survivor role does need some help. The devs have even said this themselves on a livestream, that survivors needed something to freshen up the role, and thats why the fog vials were born …and well… yeah they lasted like 9 days. Same story with the anti-tunnel stuff too.
I agree that survivors need some QOL improvements. But there’s a clear disconnect between the community about it. I’m sure better matchmaking would be generally considered a welcomed improvement but that’s not really specific to the survivor role, more of a general QOL update to the game as a whole. So when it comes to the survivor role specifically getting some kind of QOL..some think survivor is perfectly fine, some agree that something is needed..but the new item wasn’t okay, the base-kit protections weren’t okay, so I’m curious to know what would be okay. Just have to wait and see.

We really need more moderators1 -
flagged and reported it, hopefully it’ll be gone soon. What is wrong with some of you? Honestly. Sorry I’m not always on here as I actually touch grass lol

Unsurprisingly, not a single downvoter bothered to offer any response to why you or I are wrong about survivor role not being that bad. It’s much easier to anonymously lob bombs than to actually engage in productive discussion.

I hope you’re right, but I’m not optimistic. We’ve had this non-functional system for years despite the fact that it’s by far the biggest root cause for player frustration in the game.

I’d be happy to explain why I disagree with your post, and can try to further explain why others may have disagreed without commenting.
The overall tone of your post comes across that disagreements on the state of survivor are unnecessary because you, personally, are doing fine. I’ll try to explain.
You’re using your personal games as a way to imply that the balance is fine, which shuts down discussion. It’s fine to have opinions because of the experiences you have but others have opinions because of their experiences too, and it’s not right to put yours above theirs or theirs above yours. It’s about how common the same kind of experiences are that paints a broader picture. A mentality of ‘it’s fine for me so it’s fine for you’ is dismissive, and it isn’t an accurate representation of the overall state of anything. There are many things in life that individuals dont experience but it doesn’t mean that other individuals dont have those experiences, and it doesn’t mean it’s not a problem that they do.
On one hand you say there’s no data proving survivors are leaving but then use your own queue times as evidence that killers are in shorter supply.
And stating that you’re fine if survivor players leave feels antagonistic and dismissive, especially in a discussion about balance. Saying you don’t really care if survivors leave comes across that your perspective isn’t in good faith, the overall tone of your post sounds like disagreements on the state of survivor are unnecessary because, the survivor role is fine because you’re fine, and that they aren’t really leaving the game because in your games your queues don’t reflect that, and that even if survivors are leaving it wouldn’t bother you.
Hope I explained why I disagree with your points and hopefully shed some light on why some people may have felt like there wasn’t really any space to engage in a productive discussion.

Yeah I'm not optimistic either. I think complaints from content creators will influence how much it helps (or doesn't). And I'm not just saying that to be an ass, it's based on the way they behaved last time matchmaking was touched (just after Chucky's release). So I'm anticipating the same until proven otherwise.

Slugging for 4k can be elegantly fixed by just removing the hatch altogether. The hatch race is really annoying both for the survivor and the killer.
Alternatively, it can be replaced with an option for the killer to spare the last survivor or not, by pressing a button, without the race. This way the last survivor still can escape if they deserve it, without the need to do the remaining gens.

My killer ques have been 10-15 seconds since the last 2v8 ended and my survivor ques are 5-10 minutes.
