Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Please add a rank mode.

Please consider adding a solo queue–only ranked mode.

Some people enjoy playing casually, while others, like myself, want to play with a sense of purpose.

At the moment, DBD lacks a clear goal

I doubt the game’s player base is big enough to add yet another separate queue. Depending on what server you are on it’s already hard sometimes to play a few rounds and not encounter the same players again and again.

The default mode is already ranked, it has MMR, even though hidden.

Solo queue ranked mode isn´t a good idea.

First of all everyone would play for themself which would lead to no gen would be touched at all.

Everyone would rat out others and it would mutate into a hide and seek.

Why take a hit for the others? Why go in if the Killer proxxy camps.

Why try to break the 3 gen if I can hope that my mates die and I get hatch?

    This wouldn´t work at all.

As others have mentioned, most likely DBD doesn't have the player size for permanent split queues. Wait times always worsen whenever even temporary modes & events are up.

Also what would stop the sweats from going into the casual area intent on pillaging and stomping?

Queue splitting has already been tested in various events, and it has proven to be successful.

All that’s needed is to add a ranked mode when there are no events.

Is there any problem with that?

Then why don’t players of the same skill level as me get matched together?

The problem isn’t ranked mode—it’s the rating system

Because it's not Skill Based Matchmaking, but rather Escape Based Matchmaking. As soon as they make it actually Skill Based, things should start working better.

There was an error displaying this embed.

Casual matches are casual in the literal sense.

All kinds of matchups can happen—beginners vs. beginners, experienced players vs. beginners, and so on.

You’re meant to play casually without worrying too much about winning or losing. That’s why it’s called a ‘casual match.’

If new players don’t want to be bullied by experienced players, they can simply go to ranked mode and choose beginner-vs-beginner matches

Therefore, a ‘ranked mode’ with skill-based matchmaking should be implemented as soon as possible to improve the situation.

I would love a ranked mode. Make it solo/duo and I am fine with it.

First of all, the game is already like that. Furthermore, there is a wide mix of personal goals (solo escapes, team escapes, points, tome challenges, bullying the killer…), which makes playing solo queue a strange and oftentimes miserable experience. There are many different motivations for playing, and most of them are not beneficial to the team. With a unified objective and a ranked system that pairs you with players who have proven to play toward that same goal, match quality would improve significantly.

Ranked mode should therefore be based on team outcomes, not solo escapes, similar to Identity V. Basing it on individual escapes would either kill the mode instantly or lead to the same frustrations that already exist in solo queue.

I used to not be favourable about the idea but at this point I'm inclined to believe that a ranked mode would fix a lot of perpetual issues.

I think the normal / snowman ques are alredy a prime example of why it wouldnt work. The competitive killer players are using the event's fun nee mechanics as an extra slowdown in order to mow down entire solo que teams in less than 1-2 generators done, avoiding the event's points system entirely until everyone is slugged or dieing. In this example the event que would be your casual que while normal is the ranked/competitive que. You simply end up with people abusing casual for easy wins, while casuals would avoid the competitive que like a plague making only one side of it work while the other is a mess.

I think as an on and off seasonal game mode if we be fine, I don’t think it should be active simultaneously with event game modes(like 2v8 or bone chill). 3 separate modes active at the same time seems like too many for the playerbase size.

feels like ranked dbd is inevitable

Im thinking bhvr might eventually implenet an official ranked queue within dbd to keep the comp players and game alive

Although my post has received many downvotes, the lack of any counterarguments speaks for itself.

In the end, it shows that people aren’t really thinking about this.

It’s a simple matter: in this game, there are players who want to play casually and players who want to play seriously. To allow both types of players to enjoy the game, you need both casual matches and ranked matches. What matters most is having the freedom to choose.

If players can choose, then everyone—regardless of their mindset—can enjoy the game.

I don’t understand why people dislike having options and instead support an opinion that only allows players with one particular mindset to enjoy the game.
