Long shot - GPU crash dump triggered

I played this game religiously for years.. only game I play. Now I play Risk.. Lol. Anyway, in dbd I Grinded solo que survivor way too much. It became my safe space, after 10k+ hours solo que survivor.

Anyways, after TWD update (the one where they did a pretty hefty game engine update) I launch game and it says my graphics card has know issues with Direct 12X, please update latest GPU patch. I've been updated to the latest gpu update. So, I try directx 11 by using -d3d11 in gameusersettings and the game launches, but 99% of the time the game crashes - gpu crash dump triggered. I've managed to play 3 games since TWD update, randomly my efforts to play work. 2 of the 3 games I play with very little lag, good fps for my computer.. no issues. But again 99% of the time, it is serious lag and crashing before I make it to the main screen. The obvious answer is to get a new computer but financially I'm not able to do that yet.

Do you have any ideas what I can do to give myself the best chance of playing smooth games again?IIve fooled around with settings for months now, but I'm not a tech person and I'm not sure what really to do anymore.. Stay well, and thank you for reading if you did so.

Ive had a similar issue as well with my old graphics card (RTX 3070ti) where if I tabbed out my performance would drop more and more until like the 4th-5th time and then it would just crash.

Eventually I did run into the issue of it just consistently crashing, and verifying game files did fix that but never fixed the performance issues.
