Matchmaking frustration
I play solo queue as survivor, and I enjoy it when I have competent, experience teammates. But man, I don’t know what is going on with matchmaking. Just using my matches today as an example. I’ve been doing pretty well lately, escaping about half the time. But even after multiple escapes, my “reward” for doing well is getting matched with literal brand new players (often less than 100 hours - sometimes even less than 20 hours).
To me, this is by far the biggest frustration with the game, at least on the survivor side. When I play as survivor, even in solo queue, I feel like I at least have a decent chance to escape when I have experienced teammates. But when I do well and then start getting matched with brand new players multiple times in a row, it’s incredibly demoralizing and makes me just want to turn the game off and play something else.
Why doesn’t BHVR prioritize matchmaking improvements rather than all the other failed initiatives they’ve been working on lately? Just my opinion, but I’d much rather have better matchmaking than new content, bug fixes, map changes, or anything else. I have to believe other players feel the same way. I don’t know why BHVR continues to ignore this glaring issue with their game.

yep thats soloq. useless team mates that are either new to the game or they have thousands of hours but decide to throw, or they decide to do challenges. and people wonder why i play selfishly and only care about my escape.

yeah it seems like the game loves matching you against all the S and A tier killers that are being piloted by good players but then makes no effort to actually put you on a team with competent survivors.
so you're just constantly in these non-competitive matches that feel like forced outcomes. like the game saw that you escaped too many times at some point and now you're just being punished over and over again until you die enough times that the matchmaking magically switches back on and the games become competitive again.
it's the main reason why i get burnt out playing and why i frequently take long breaks. i just feel like if dbd isn't going to respect my time by at least making some effort to create a playable match then it won't receive my time.

I agree, and the ping is an issue as well.

SoloQ is a nightmare difficulty for dbd. If you value your time and sanity, either find 3 friends, or switch to killer. The latter option can also be frustrating when being matched against SWF (which happens 90% of the time, since almost no soloQ survivors remain in this game), but can be circumvented by playing mobile killers, using lightborn or just giving up on hopeless games.

Just a bad day had one few weeks back. Usually SoloQ is totally fine of course playing event queue people horse around too long so give killer advantage so mostly lose because of it. I am on that mind in that mode if the killer messes around then I will mess around but until then I play normal and maybe do some minor event point farming on the side.

Yeah, SoloQ is rough. I play with 1 friend, but having two randoms is still A LOT of variance. And obviously people play to play in an SWF because then they either are just playing with friends and have fun regardless or they know that the other players are good and know what to do.
Just as an example what happened yesterday:
Me and Ada on a Gen next to Shack on Ormond. Two other Gens nearby, one Gen on the opposite site of the Map. Two Gens to go. Killer (Myers) hooks Nancy, who has Kindred. My SWF-Mate is not far away from the Hook, Ada and myself are full map away. And yet Ada decides to get up and goes for the Unhook, even if my SWF-Mate is nearby. And what happens? I cannot finish the Gen on my own (with Ada together it would have been finished), Myers kicks it with PGTW and never leaves his 3-Gen again. Game was lost, if Ada would have stayed at my Gen, we most likely would have won.
And this is not an issue of information, since Nancy had Kindred. So Ada had full information where everyone was and who should go for the Unhook. This was just a SoloQ-Teammate being bad. And people play SWF to minimize the chances to be paired with those players.

There are months when solo queue is legit unplayable and I stop playing the game to keep my sanity. Post 9.3 seems to be the case. It's too frustrating to lose games not because the killer is better but teammates decide to throw the most winnable games on average.

soloq is in terrible shape, im over 12k and i struggle in soloq due to map being so bad these days, not even randoms, yea randoms are bad and they do get 2tap, but damn those maps are insanely bad for survivors, even tho i manage to loop killers for a while, eventually either a bs hit or some bad tile +bloodlust etc allow me to get downed, even tho my skillgap is far superior to the killer i get downed, it makes no sense at all, the tiles needs to be reverted before pallet density since there is no way people gonna loop those 50-50, i even won against some blight 50-50 5 times in a row, guess how much time it bought me? 15sec or something, wow what a tile lol.
